Everyone from my family and at Spring’s Haven send our thoughts and prayers to all those involved in the fertilizer explosion in West. Our hearts are greatly saddened by the loss of life, homes and the memories that were shared within those buildings.
We also remember those first responders who were taken too soon as they battled the fire before and after the explosion. Our world has lost a great deal of brightness and caring without them in it.
May the Great Spirits watch over those living through this tragedy. May the families and friends of those lost, find strength to endure. May all first responders be held in grace and protection. We share in the sorrow of all those lost,
and in the destruction of a lovely community. We pray that the Great Spirits provide healing and compassion for the coming months and years as the rebuilding takes place and new memories are forged.
We all go through times of negative self talk. Most of us are often our own worst critics. When we buy into these destructive self assessments we open a door that attracts more negativity into our world. And often times that begins a the snowball effect, rolling down hill getting larger and more overwhelming.
But it’s not enough to simply stop the negative thinking, or taking in the negativity from others. We often create a void that wants to be filled with something. If we let it be, it more often than not becomes filled with more or returning negativity.
The easiest way to correct this problem is to fill the void with beneficial energy that will help you heal from within and promote a sense of well being through your day, week, month and life.
In today’s world meditation is viewed from two perspectives, from the spiritual form of enlightenment and becoming one with spirit. Or through the eyes of mainstream medicine as a non-denominational practice that can relieve stress. If a non-denominational practice interests you, try the 5 Minute Meditation. Continue reading →
Reiki is an ancient art of healing. It is often referred to as a Zen art of hands on holistic healing, where the healer is a channel for the Divine Universal Life Force Energy.
I have been a practicing Reiki Healer since 1989. Over the past two decades of practice I have learned a few things and changed my view of some aspects of Reiki. As with everything in life, the more you learn and expand your knowledge, so too should your views and perspectives also change and grow.
In 1999 I wrote a section about Reiki on my original educational website. I outlined the general information about what Reiki is, its practices, the general information about the Reiki I and II levels of training. All from the perspective of a traditionally trained Reiki Master. I even included a page on the controversies surrounding the history, attunements and pricing of Reiki training. Continue reading →
Find Strength in the compassion and love around you. Allow healing to begin from within. Don’t push others away and try to walk this road alone. It’s too easy to become lost and give up. It’s to easy to fall into the darkness and become consumed by despair. It’s hard to remember that you’re not the only one hurting. But try to share the compassion you receive. Others need it too.
I’m surprised by this card today, yet it’s so appropriate on so many levels. There are many who are facing trials both great and small today. It’s easy to become overwhelmed and stressed out by hardships no matter what they are. What you think is a trivial thing could be the very last straw dropped on someone’s back and they can no longer carry all the weight that built up over the last few days, months or even years.
In those times of struggle we need to be there for each other. We need to listen and share in the compassion and love around us. There’s something to be said for sharing the tears of pain and helping each other through the darkness of sorrow.
Yes some struggles are more dire than others. Some run deeper and some hit the very essence of our soul. But all deserve kindness, support and consideration. Whither it be spending an extra moment of your time to help someone in need, giving a hug to lift someone up or reassuring someone close to you that you’re there by their side to lean on, all acts of compassion can ease someone’s spirit. And it can even help ease your own.
Let them cry, let them scream, hold their hand and endure or share the release of emotion. Could be they’ll be there for you one day. Helping you to stand and not runaway into the depths of the darkness and solitude.
“I’ve been worrying myself sick” an old wives tale that has a great deal of truth in its proverbial message. Sometimes we need to listen to the old wisdom of generations past. They didn’t have the medical achievements we have today and they had to pay a great deal of attention to what they did and said to keep from getting sick. And back then, getting a cold might mean the difference between living through it or dying.
From the Metaphysical perspective there are two potential approaches to understanding illness in the body. The first deals with karma and past life experiences that affect the current incarnation. Viewing an issue from a karmic perspective can sometimes answer the “why” did this have to happen question. But don’t assume that means negative karma is being worked out or that someone is being punished in some karmic fashion. We are all here to learn lessons and sometimes that means allowing someone to sacrifice their existence for the spiritual advancement of others. Continue reading →
In the wake of the Aurora, Colorado “Batman Rises” theater shooting on July 20th, many are asking the question “Why?”. “Why would a supposed benevolent creator allow such a thing to happen?” Good questions that of course are not easily answered.
From the pagan perspective we do not view the Divine as an outside omnipotent being, aka “God”. For us the Divine is a collective. You are not the God, I am not the Goddess, but you and I and all things, seen and unseen, make up the Divine Consciousness. As such, the Divine is not good or bad energy; it’s just energy. Good, bad or indifferent the Divine really is everything. How we (we the incarnated being) express that energy is what’s important and where we find the answer to how can bad things happen to good people. Continue reading →
Accept the gifts of spirit even if you don’t yet understand their purpose. The events in your life come to bring lessons of enlightenment, be they karmic or spiritual in nature. We may not always see what they bring to teach us, but when we accept their energy and make choices that break old negative patterns, we achieve a step forward toward our own spiritual wisdom and understanding.
We set the path that we walk in life. Either as a spiritual blue print, or through the choices we make in life. Our way forward or backward comes by our own hand. If you repeat your steps; consider looking at the situations you find yourself in from a higher spiritual perspective. What pattern are you repeating?
Take the situation into meditation and contemplate on the choices you’ve made in the past. Are they choices made out of anger or hurt? Are they decisions based on what someone else did to you in the past and you’re applying that same scenario to new situations with new players?
It’s time to set the old baggage down and leave it behind. You no longer need it and it’s only holding you back from moving forward freely. Forgive yourself for carrying it for so long. Allow your inner spirit to engulf you in compassionate loving light, soothing your spirit in green healing light. Then let it go and move on. Make an effort not to assume others will treat you the same way the foes of the past did. It’s not fair to the new actors in your life’s play and it’s not fair to you either.
Show compassion, caring and love to the child within. Don’t be so hard on yourself for your knee jerk reactions. They have been formed for years and take time, healing and effort to overturn and change. Don’t judge yourself or others too harshly and make sure you know all the facts, not just the headlines or the talking points.
Make sure you understand all sides of the issue before you start placing blame or judging others. This is especially true when reviewing your own actions and responses to daily situations and encounters. Sometimes things seem as though they’re an attack, when in reality they were simple issues that were made bigger because of your past experiences with others.
Don’t apply the actions of the past onto the relationships you have today. You’re not the same person within, and they may not even be the same person you’re dealing with today. So just because someone in your past hurt you deeply; doesn’t mean the person you’re with now is trying to do the same thing.
Sharing understanding, compassion and especially caring communication with yourself and those around you are the key to understanding. Take some time to calm down, and then talk it out. You’ll be better for it and so will they.
Prosperity comes in many forms, not only financial or material goods. Prosperity of love, friendship and soul are also elements of a balanced life. Today look at what is lacking in your life and take time to appreciate what you do have. Plan on lunch with friends, invite someone to dinner or spend some time in meditation to heal the emotions of the heart. Only you can change your own outlook and bring more abundance and prosperity into your life.
If you focus on what’s missing in your life and do nothing to change it, all you’re doing is creating more of the same lack. The Law of Attraction/Manifestationacts like a mirror, reflecting more of the same into our lives. Change the pattern of thinking by giving healing energy to that which you desire. If you want more spirituality in your life, then start by defining what you believe today and where you want to go. If you feel lonely then become your own best friend. If you don’t like you how are others going to like you?
The more you focus on what is lacking in your life, the more of it you create. Take time to meditate on the subject and try to discover the lesson it’s trying to teach you. Ask the GreatSpirits, your spirit guides and animal guides to help you bring healing to the issue. Above all else, forgive yourself and show compassion to your thinking. You’re only human and even you make mistakes. Through meditation allow your spiritual consciousness to tell your physical consciousness it’s ok, you’re forgiven and you are loved. Allow the healing to begin and the positive changes of abundance and prosperity to manifest in your life.
