Our Thoughts For Those At The Navy Yard, Washington, DC

Everyone from my family and at Spring’s Haven send our thoughts and prayers to all those involved in today’s tragic shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC.  We hold all those who work in and around the area, their families and friends in our hearts.

Washington DC is in our backyard. It’s a place that’s home to me as I grew up outside DC in Northern Virginia inside the Capital Beltway. One cannot live in this area without knowing someone who works for the Government, Government Contractors or who are in the Military. It makes our area feel like a small community and when something happens, it happens to us all.

May the Great Spirits watch over the victims and those injured,
May the families and friends of those lost, find strength to endure.
May all first responders remain safe and clear in their mission,
May everyone find compassion for those in this community,
including the disturbed young man, his family and friends.

We send our thoughts, prayers, healing and sympathies with compassion and kindness.

We hope today’s event will bring clarity to America and it’s citizens to open meaningful discussion about the gun violence in our country.

We believe in our Constitution and our 2nd Amendment rights. Gun laws alone will not stop these events, or keep them from happening again. But we must stop yelling at each other and start finding the common ground from which we can build meaningful solutions to end the senseless violence that plagues our wonderful and blessed country.

A NASCAR Legend Dies

If you’ve been around my blog or Facebook page you know my family and I are big fans of racing. Especially Nascar racing.

Nascar fans are a unique group of people. We’re not at all like the stereotypes the media in all it’s forms tries to paint us as. Our range of fans spans way beyond the boundaries of North America as a whole. It touches every part of the world and if some of these critics would go to a race and meet the people, they would learn that.

We’re not all uneducated southern rednecks either. You’ll find people from all walks of life at a race rooting for their favorite driver. Doctors, professors, lawyers, computer professionals, construction engineers and everything in between.

We’re a family; sometimes a dysfunctional family, but still a family. We may not like the same drivers, we may diss on your favorite driver. But at the end of a race, you won’t find any of us beating up or shooting another fan because they happen to like the driver who crashed our guy out of the race.  We come together like no other sport does when tragedy strikes in our midst. It’s a phenomenon that has been discussed and written about by sports reporters for decades. Continue reading

Our Thoughts For Yet Another Tragedy

Everyone from my family and at Spring’s Haven send our thoughts and prayers to all those involved in the fertilizer explosion in West. Our hearts are greatly saddened by the loss of life, homes and the memories that were shared within those buildings.

We also remember those first responders who were taken too soon as they battled the fire before and after the explosion. Our world has lost a great deal of brightness and caring without them in it.

May the Great Spirits watch over those living through this tragedy.
May the families and friends of those lost, find strength to endure.
May all first responders be held in grace and protection.
We share in the sorrow of all those lost,
and in the destruction of a lovely community
.
We pray that the Great Spirits provide healing and compassion for
the coming months and years as the rebuilding takes place and new
memories are forged.

Our Thoughts For Boston, Massachusetts

Everyone from my family and at Spring’s Haven send our thoughts and prayers to all those involved in today’s Boston Massachusetts bombings.  We hold all competitors in today’s Marathon, their families and friends; here and far away at home in our hearts.

May the Great Spirits watch over those hurt and injured,
May the families and friends of those lost, find strength to endure.
May all first responders pull together in clarity and mission,
providing help and healing where ever it’s needed before them.
We send our thoughts to the international community present
and we pray that compassion and forgiveness will find its way to all.

We also send out prayers to those angered by today’s event, that they find patience and tolerance. Please do not make this tragedy worse by harming any group of people or persons based on assumptions of bigotry and hate.

The community of the world can only find peace when compassion is shown to our neighbors. Only when we allow patience to thrive, allowing justice to flourish will those responsible be held accountable for their actions.

Sympathies and Prayers for Oak Creek, Wisconsin

The Alpha's

The Gift of Compassion

Everyone at Spring’s Haven wish to express our deepest sympathies, prayers and thoughts for the family, friends and community of the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

This world is large enough to accommodate all beliefs and to share our knowledge, wisdom and understanding in peace. We can allow others to believe as they choose without threatening our own spiritual path or compromising our own enlightenment.

Hate and intolerance have no place in our society or our country! This senseless violence harms everyone not only here in the U.S., but all souls around the world. By remaining silent when crimes of hate occur, one condones the act. By standing up and denouncing the hate out of tolerance and expressing compassion for the victimized we elevate the standards of morality and eliminate the screams of arrogance and overbearing dictatorship either formal or informal.

As my friend Rev. John E. Lewis Jr. said today:
Undermining the religious, political, moral or philosophical views of others in favor of elevating the religious, political, moral or philosophical views of self is arrogant, pathologically absurd and ultimately self-defeating. These dangerous tactics are on the increase by certain individuals and groups who actually believe they will convince others of their conceived supreme position. It may appear to be effective in the short-run, but in the long-run it will fail miserably, and in the process demean the common decency and civility of collective society. Never can any individual or group ultimately succeed by discrediting others in favor of self.

Our our hearts and prayers go out to everyone affected.
