“Celebrate the love of your soul mate” and variations of that always pop up around February 14th and Valentines Day. But it’s also a sentiment that people are drawn to when they want to celebrate their love with the one who is most dear to them. The idea however is one that has evolved over time and thanks to the greeting card companies has taken on a different meaning than its spiritual definition.
“Tell me the story about how the Sun loved the Moon so much he died every night to let her breathe.” It’s a beautiful line that pulls at the hearts of many to want to learn more. Storytellers and romantics alike want to know the origins of that line and where it comes from. They want to hear or read the whole story and share it with the ones they love. Continue reading →
I’m often asked what books I recommend for those getting started on their spiritual journey. You mean other than mine? 😉
I have two recommended reading list, one at Amazon and one at GoodReads. These lists are exactly the same, so don’t think you have to do a comparison here. It’s easier to keep a list of recommended books on these sites, because they change from time to time. This way I can add new books and share them with others who frequent two of the more popular book sites.
The more you learn about a topic, the more research you’ll want to do. Make sure you read about a subject from different authors to gain insight into the different perspectives and ideas. Pick and choose what feels right to you, when it comes to your beliefs. The more you read, the more you’ll be able to recognize what’s good source material from that which leaves something to be desired.
As a Pagan Minister I receive a lot of requests from people looking for spiritual insight and help during times of trials and challenges. Often times, these requests come from people who are out of state or even overseas. They can be people who live in areas that are highly saturated in a Christian community, or military people who want one of their own to talk to.
Imagine being in crisis and wanting someone to speak with in spiritual terms, but the only available help are Christian Ministers who don’t understand your pagan beliefs. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say the minister only wanted them to pray for salvation and to convert from their wicked pagan ways. If they would do that, their problems would disappear. For many, this isn’t the help they’re looking for and in fact, it causes some to feel even more helpless than they were prior to the “Spiritual Counseling” session. Continue reading →
Temper your confidence with compassion and nurturing of others. Don’t stick your nose in the air and act as if you’re better than anyone else. Others have gone through what you have, and they too have made it through with grace and dignity. Hold onto your strength and ability to survive. But remember, you still have healing to do within, and issues to face. A little humility goes a long way when you share your knowledge and what you’ve done to succeed.
Being confident in your abilities to face adversity and overcome what the world throws at you is important. But allowing that confidence to turn into over indulgence, or arrogance does a disservice to you and the work you have done to survive.
Remember others have gone through things that are much worse than you have and they too have survived. Instead of looking down on others who are still struggling, your humility will be better served by helping them get through their trials with encouragement, support and sharing what you have done to innovate, adapt and overcome. Be an inspiration to others and help them see what they can become in their own right.
This article assumes a person who is attempting divination knows how to clear energy and shield themselves and the area they’re working in. Anyone who doesn’t know how to do that is inviting any type of entity into their divination session.
Recently I have been asked about how spirits connect with a psychic or channel for purposes of communication. Not just for divination, but also for guidance and attaining insight into ones spiritual path and enlightenment.
To answer that question I decided to provide my understanding of the “technical” explanation of how spirit energy can connect to our higher consciousness and how spirit communication occurs once that connection is made.
The first thing I’d say here is that everyone is psychic to some degree and everyone has the potential to communicate with spirit. Some call it intuition, others call it gut feeling, but whatever label you’re assigning to the instinct, it’s an ability we all have. Being psychic doesn’t make you special, or unique. It’s a natural sixth sense that we all have. Some of us simply are more aware of it and have tapped into that sense to use it in our daily lives. But it’s something that can be learned. With routine meditation, study, practice and experience anyone can communicate with their own higher spiritual consciousness and with their own connection to the higher Universal Divine Consciousness. Simply put, karma is the result of an act or deed, either in the present, recent past or in past lives. Many people for some reason, think there is only ‘bad’ karma. But think about it, if you owe karma to someone, then someone is in a position to receive a karmic repayment. So there is both positive and negative aspects of karma. Karma however is not the same thing as what has become known as the law of return, or the 3fold law. In actuality, these are not laws of “return”, but rather accountability. To further confuse the issue, not all traditions of Witchcraft follow the 3fold law, or a law of return. Some adhere to a 9fold or even a 10fold law.
The best way to think of this is: Karma is the result of an action. 3fold, 9fold, 10fold is the action and your accountability to it. Continue reading →
A Basic Description of Paganism & Pagan Metaphysics
What is Paganism? What does Pagan mean? How is Pagan Metaphysics different from Witchcraft? With the growing popularity in Paganism, many people who have never heard the word before, or people who don’t know what it is are looking for some basic understanding and knowledge about the beliefs and practices. Many wonder if it’s a religion or something else. Is it evil or bad? What’s real and what’s made up in Hollywood?
Of course anyone could write an entire book on these subjects. Well, actually I have with Pagan Metaphysics 101, the first book in a series to explain these questions in more detail. But for those who are looking for a short general version for their own understanding, I offer the following brief explanation.
The Word ‘Pagan’
Many beginners confuse the translation of the word pagan with its meaning. Pagan translates to “country dweller”, but that’s not the definition of the word. It’s just the translation. In the old days a country dweller was someone who lived off the land and depended on nature to survive. They were typically practitioners of some form of nature or earth based religion.
