Sunday’s Homily: “All Paths Lead to the Same Destination”

Thoughts On: “All Paths Lead to the Same Destination”

The Divine WithinEarlier today that question was posed on an IMM forum that I’m a member of. My initial response was:

I think everyone has their own view about what that destination is, but I think it’s a true statement. I don’t believe in “God” or “heaven”. So when I say it’s the same destination I think of the Divine Universal Consciousness.

From a non-pagan perspective a Catholic friend of mine said to me once “If God is truly the All; than he/she/it has the ability to be all things to all people. God can be anything, anywhere, anytime and in anyplace.”

Perhaps we all believe in the same thing, but we simply have different names for it. But how it’s applied is still about your own personal perspective from belief and experience.

As the discussion emerged it was clear that there are many views on the phrase and each one seemed to have a strong individualistic perspective that, in some cases, didn’t allow for flexibility. In other words, if you didn’t hold the understanding behind the right path, you could not reach the ultimate destination. So does that mean that not all paths lead to same destination? Or does that mean only certain paths have the key through the Divine doorway? Continue reading

The History of Friday The 13th – A Good Day For Pagans

Friday the 13th“Black Friday” or “Black Cat Day”

Fear of Friday the 13th is known as triskaidekaphobes.

When fear of the day started is up for debate. Some suggest little can be found about the day being negative or filled with bad luck prior to the late 1800s. But others link the phobia to older historical events and occurrences which symbolize the link between the number thirteen and Friday to disastrous events.

One thing many seem to agree to is that both the number thirteen and the sixth day of the week (Friday) have been associated with negative connotations from patriarchal societies and most definitely western cultures. Where as matriarchal societies associate both these objects with positive aspects and connotations.

Pagans Honor The 13th
We should begin with a short explanation for the layman about who and what are Pagans.

By academic definition, Pagans are any religion or spiritual path that does not follow Abrahamic doctrine. It’s a category of religions that would include Buddhism, Hinduism, Shamanism and Pagan Metaphysics (Witchcraft). It’s these last two that are largely associated with modern Paganism. Todays Tarot Meditation Drawing: Justice – Inverted

Justice - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Some one around you is trying to tilt the balance and drowned out the other side of the story. It’s up to you to ensure the swords have been lowered and balance remains in tact before decisions are made. Remember Justice is blind for a reason. Get all the facts without prejudice and you will bring reason into the fight to resolve the conflict fairly.

Additional Insight:

There is always two sides to every story. You may not want to believe what you hear today, but it’s important that you don’t take sides. You’re being watched and judge by others for the manner in which you’re handling this issue. Don’t rush through your judgement and don’t take sides based on friendship or whither or not you like someone. Talk to both parties involved. Talk to those who work closely with them and may be involved in the conflict. Back the ‘story’ up with facts, check emails and time stamps against schedules and assignments. By late today, you’ll be able to fairly resolve the issue.

Hey..I hit a mile marker with this post. This is the 100th post on my new blog! Woohoo! Mini-celebration! Think I’ll have a cookie.

Divination & Spirit Communication

How Do Spirits Connect To You For Communication

This article assumes a person who is attempting divination knows how to clear energy and shield themselves and the area they’re working in. Anyone who doesn’t know how to do that is inviting any type of entity into their divination session.

Spirit CommunicationRecently I have been asked about how spirits connect with a psychic or channel for purposes of communication. Not just for divination, but also for guidance and attaining insight into ones spiritual path and enlightenment.

To answer that question I decided to provide my understanding of the “technical” explanation of how spirit energy can connect to our higher consciousness and how spirit communication occurs once that connection is made.

The first thing I’d say here is that everyone is psychic to some degree and everyone has the potential to communicate with spirit. Some call it intuition, others call it gut feeling, but whatever label you’re assigning to the instinct, it’s an ability we all have. Being psychic doesn’t make you special, or unique. It’s a natural sixth sense that we all have. Some of us simply are more aware of it and have tapped into that sense to use it in our daily lives. But it’s something that can be learned. With routine meditation, study, practice and experience anyone can communicate with their own higher spiritual consciousness and with their own connection to the higher Universal Divine Consciousness. Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Knight of Cups –

Knight Of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Chivalry is on your side, so ride your magik carpet over the fray. There are battles going on all around you today, none of them are yours to fight. Stay above it all, don’t give your input or get sucked into the negative games being played. Set some shields of protection, stay focused on your own mission and you can avoid being burned in the skirmish!

Additional Insight:

As usual many around you are fighting against the tide and trying to force things to happen to their will. Their selfishness will work against them, so be careful not to get pulled onto their sinking ship. Don’t offer advice, don’t provide information or insight. Simply walk away and let them fight their own battles. It’s very important that your name not be linked to theirs and you’ll be fine.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

It may seem there are tears all around you today. Remember the compassion and concern you have received in the last year. Now it’s time for you to give back some of that which you received. Sometimes a hug, and a simple comment of “It’s going to be ok” is all that someone needs to hear. If you are the one with the tears, remember to look beyond that which is on your plate and see the buffet before you. While one door may have closed, there is a bounty of blessings on your table to be shared.

Additional Insight:

Sometimes one door closes behind us in order for others to be opened before us. You’ve learned all you can from the past and it’s time to move on. So whither you’re the one with the tears, or the one giving comfort, take time to look at the blessings you do have in your life and what you have to give or what you receive from those around you. You may notice that things aren’t as bad as you think. And while you can take time to grieve, don’t wallow in self pity and create a deeper chasm of despair than there needs to be.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Three of Wands – Inverted

It’s ok to be unconventional. Some of the best ideas come from being upside down and a little different. Don’t let others push you into being what they want or think you should be. Live true to your own inner instincts, respect all things around you; including yourself, and allow your inspiration to flow and brighten the world.

Additional Insight:

Just because others are afraid to be a little different, doesn’t mean you have to live through their fear. In today’s competitive world looking at the world with a different perspective can help to think outside the box. Utilize your own intuition to inspire new solutions and exciting concepts.  Use your unconditional perspectives to imagine new innovations that others have never conceived. Be yourself! And others will come to appreciate your different perspectives.

Keep your eyes on the future and the plans you’ve already put in place. There will be a great deal of distraction today, but don’t let it get to you. They’re mostly good interruptions reminding you to enjoy life while you’re working along your path to achieve your goals.

Additional Insight:

Taking a few moments to stop and smell the roses isn’t going to derail your plans for the day. Sometimes we have to be reminded of the blessings we have along our path already. Make sure you take notice. Some of these things are the reason you’re working so hard. Don’t get so focused on the end goal and lose them along the way.

Sunday’s Homily: Emotional Manipulation

Sometimes people will go out of their way to bait you into an argument simply so they can feel superior. Don’t allow them to manipulate your emotions and control your reactions. ~ Springwolf

Passive Aggression

Control Your EmotionsBeing passive aggressive is a method of showing aggression in an indirect manner. Such as making negative comments in a general manner that is not specifically directed at someone, but is intended to put down or denounce what a specific person said. In other words, it a cowardly way of insulting someone and baiting them into an argument without doing so face to face.

This happened to me recently. In responding to a question on an IMM Ministers forum, I made mention of living in balance by implementing your spiritual beliefs upon your physical path. Walking Your Talk© so to speak. It’s not enough to believe you are spiritual if you don’t apply those beliefs in your every day life and respond to others accordingly. Another member responded to the same question and for some reason felt the need to say “it has nothing to do with balance” and continued to make his point which seemingly had nothing to do with what I had said.

So why add that statement to his response? Why put in a comment that was seemingly directed at my reply, since I was the only one who had, up to that moment, made a comment about balance? To me it had the purpose to bait me into a confrontation or to denounce my view because he doesn’t agree with anything I say on this forum. Being one of the very few, if not the only pagan minister on this forum, there are a few members who consistently attack my comments and perspectives. Not that this is unusual or uncommon in general. If you’re going to put your Pagan hat on and wear it in public, you’re going to get negative comments from time to time. I’m used to this. But it is disheartening to know that this kind of immediate bigotry toward  pagan perspectives can occur on a forum that’s designed for spiritual ministers and specifically fellow ministers in the same organization. To me, it’s a bit hypocritical. Continue reading
