Congratulations to Gabby Douglas, Native of Virginia!

All Round Gymnastics Gold

Our local news here is all a buzz over one of our own (a Virginian), Gabby Douglas, who won Olympic Gold in the all around Gymnastics competition. GYMNASTICS: Virginia Beach’s Douglas wins all-around gold

Congratulations to Gabby and all the competitors.

What struck me most as we watched all the local news coverage and perused the papers this morning, you know what the headlines didn’t say, at least here in our little world? They don’t say First “Black” American To Win Olympic Gold in Gymnastics! While that is a measurable achievement, and it was mentioned as it should be for young African American girls everywhere –  it’s a bigger compliment to simply say First American To Win Gold in Gymnastics since 1996.

Imagine a day when the color of your skin NEVER makes a news headline. She’s not a Black American. She’s an American! And we’re VERY PROUD OF OUR GABBY!
Congratulations also to all our American Athletes! Whither they brought home a medal or not, we’re proud of each and every one of them for the efforts, work and participation. Everything else is merely decoration on an already wonderful cake!

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Seven of Pentacles – Inverted

7 of Pentacles: Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Watch your finances today. Don’t spend more than you have and on things you don’t need. While you’re not the only one suffering right now, you can make things worse by going over budget or having no budget at all. “Things” don’t bring happiness. But financial accountability can bring security and peace for a worried mind. Plan your finances for the next week carefully. Don’t give it all away! What energy you set up today will carry through the next several years!

Additional Insight:

Today’s message carries through the weekend and underlies the energy of next week. So be cautious about your finances!

It’s ok to try to help others in need, but when you do so at the expense of yourself or your family, you’re not doing anyone any favors. You can’t give it all away and hope that when you have a need that others will be there for you. Sadly not everyone is as compassionate and generous as you.

Be careful who you talk to and who you share information with. Some that you may have thought were friends that you could trust, may selfishly try to take advantage of you out of greed. Don’t let them disappoint you by holding them up to your expectations. Many won’t meet the mark. But remember that sometimes it’s ok to be selfish (when you’re quiet about it), and when you’re faced with self preservation! If you don’t speak your mind today, if you don’t runaway and hide your worries in the purchase of ‘things’, you’ll be ok in the long run. This is a time to be patient and plan for the marathon, not the sprint.

Morning Work – Setting A Positive Flow

What’s On Your Desk?

Each morning I get a cup of coffee and settle in for my morning work. That starts with centering and trying to wake up a little. Though sometimes being half asleep actually helps when pulling the Daily Tarot Meditation card. This morning I was thinking about what’s on my little work desk. I like my desk. It makes me feel empowered at the start of the day, connected to the Divine Consciousness and the Faeries I talk to throughout the day, and I think it’s simply lovely covered in my favorite things. When your desk provides a connection to the Divine creative energy within your higher consciousness, it becomes easier to face challenges, solve problems or if you’re like me, it can inspire you to write a Reflection for your blog.  😉

If your desk holds things you don’t like or that you dread to look at and deal with, you’re setting that energy up for the entire day. That in turn will impact everything you have to deal with through out your day. Whither it’s on your desk or not. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Seven of Cups

7 of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

When you sit in the seat of love and compassion, the world around is filled with brightness and abundance. You can clearly see the events of the past, present and future. And understand why the occurred, what they are trying to teach you and how they will manifest with the present patterns in place. If you don’t like those outcomes, now is the time to change them. The dreams you planted in July are already manifesting in the spiritual winds. Take time to think things through, ensure your visions contain what you really need and take time to alter your plans for those details that may not fit your dream. Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

You cannot change others, all you can do is change yourself. If there’s something in your life you don’t like; it’s up to you to alter how you face that issue. Whither it’s something about yourself, or an issue you face; when you change the pattern of energy, you can change the thing causing stress and strife. In doing this, you change the pattern not only in your life, but in how others react to you as well.

If your dreams rely on how others deal with you, then you must change those patterns you have control over. The ones within yourself. Make sure you have thought things through and created alternative plans in case others do no react the way you hope they will. Rose colored glasses are great when used to change your view of the negativity around you. But they can be dangerous when you refuse to look at the negative patterns you yourself feed energy into.

Be careful what you wish for, be careful how you plan your dreams. Make sure you work out the details and are open to alternatives if things need to be tweaked along the way. Don’t feel as though you must compromise everything, or settle for something less. But don’t be so set in stone that you can not go with the flow of Divine energy as it tries to help you manifest your desires in the best possible pattern of energy for you in this time and space.

History Of Lughnasadh

The Fire Festival Of The Summer Sun

This is the first of the Pagan Harvest Festivals. This is a time where we celebrate the Sun God Lugh, honor the rain and thank the magikal folk of the Tuatha Dé Danann for their help in our own gardens.

As local clans migrated, they took with them their religious and spiritual traditions. Many people believe that during these migrations, names of holidays also changed and Lughnasadh became Lammas. That’s not quite accurate however.

Lammas comes from the Old English word hlafmæsse, which  literally means “loaf mass,”. It was first used in the 15th and 17th centuries by the early Catholic Churches to celebrate the grain provided by the first harvest. In other words, it was another attempt by the early church to co-opt a pagan holiday, make it their own, in order to convert pagans.

Many Anglo-Saxon pagan clans, adopted the name, but still observed the original celebrations of Lugh and the original intent of the holiday. Must pagan purests prefer to ignore the Christianized version of the festival and stick with the early Celtic name of Lughnasadh. As with most things in the world of spirituality, your preferred name should ring true with you. It’s your festival to honor the Sun, the warmth of the summer and their blessings upon the fields. Call it what you feel most connected to, Lughnasadh or Lammas.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Justice – Inverted

Justice - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Injustice resides behind the curtain, but you have the ability to balance the scales and lift it out of its bondage. Going with the flow can sometimes condone the actions of others that harm or become hurtful. Speak out against injustice and condemn those who support its measures. Unverified rumors, slander, bigotry, hate and intolerance grow and survive when others remain silent and allow their energy to infect others. Speak up and condemn the words of hate. Only then can the world begin to change for the better. Even if it’s just your small part of the world.

Additional Insight:

Inappropriate comments will continue and fester injustice when they go unchallenged and ignored. Whither it’s the guys at work making sexist comments, or the relative who discriminates against gays, Muslims or some other group, don’t let their ignorant hate go without challenge.

As long as people think others around them support their negativity they will continue to spread their bigotry, rumor and lies. Silence against those words gives the appearance of agreement and support. And even the littlest comments can take on energy and snowball into something much bigger and more harmful than one can imagine. Speak up, stand up for the “little” guy and stop the propagation of intolerance in your world.

The Spring’s Haven Divination House Journal #2

The Dream Continues

Planning The Divination House

The Inspiration For Our House

So today I started thinking about the practical approach to the house, traveling for Renfaires and other similar gatherings around the country. Or at the very least the east coast.

Now I know about a number of faires here on our side of the U.S. But what I was thinking about were the practical aspects of the house.

What if we need a place to stay. Do we pull the tree house behind an RV or our truck? If we use the truck do we rent a hotel room? Or do we expand the tree house to accommodate some modern facilities, such as a kitchen and bath. Continue reading
