One Win For The Pagan Side!

Back on August 20th I shared news about the Facebook name policy targeting Pagan names and causing havoc for those members.

Here’s a short recap:
Facebook has made a policy that allows any user to report another member because they do not like their name or think the name is being used to bullying others or is fake. However this policy is being used as a weapon by cyber bullies and religious terrorists to harass and intimidate minorities. This happened to me this week.

All it takes is for someone who doesn’t like you, your name or the content of your page to send Facebook a report about your displayed name making an accusation that it’s fake and your account is suspended. No double checking, no review of your page or content, no contacting you first. Your account is suspended until you can prove you are who you say you are.

According to the Facebook Name Confirmation policy:
Two different forms of ID from the list below. The names on your IDs must match each other. One of the IDs must include a photo OR date of birth that matches the information on your Facebook profile so that we can make sure you’re the rightful owner of your account.

The list includes about 15 or so forms of ID that can be provided. So you have a lot to choose from. You need to include a government issued ID. And I wasn’t about to give FB more private information about me than they already have. So an “official” ID wasn’t going to happen. It shouldn’t have to happen! Continue reading

Help Fight Discrimination on Facebook!

Update: 08.22 – 4:50pm Eastern
This afternoon FB responded to an email I submitted concerning this issue. They are asking for additional ID information. I’ve provided 3 forms of ID already. So I sent them an image of the cover of my book and demanded my page be reinstated.

In the meantime we have converted one of our FB administration accounts to serve as what we hope is a temporary FB page for Spring. You’ll find her at:  facebook.com/RevSpringwolf.

It drives me a little nuts when people send me an email, asking a question that I’m happy to answer, only to have the eMail response bounced back because of an invalid eMail.  Ugh! That happened today.

Folks, I love answering eMail and trying to share information about something I’m passionate about in my life. But I can’t respond if you don’t tell me the right eMail address.

I try to research the eMail address to see if I can figure out where the mistake is. Usually the cause is a typeo, a .om where the c has been left out. Or mgail, where letters have been transposed. I can fix those and reply. But sometimes, not even I can solve the problem.

So I try to answer those eMail questions here, while still hiding the specific identity of the person who sent me the note. I hope that eventually the person recognizes that I’m talking about them and still receive their reply. So let me try that today for Leon. Continue reading

We Celebrate Same-Sex-Marriage Equality

Everyone here at Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven celebrate with the LGBT community on the Court’s decision to enforce Marriage Equality for all American people. This is a profound moment in the history of our nation. Love is Love in all 50 states of the U.S.

“The first wedding I officiated was for a same-sex couple.” Spring explained. “It has always bothered me that the wedding wasn’t “Legal” here in Virginia at the time. Not only for the couple, but as a minister licensed in this Commonwealth there was something lacking in the celebration. Thank them for helping you in your garden, yard or even bringing you some magikal smiles into your life each and every day. They’ll appreciate the entertainment and the gratitude. A Solstice Conjunction for 2015

An Amazing Summer Solstice Event A sparkling triangle of Venus, Jupiter, and the crescent Moon will grace our night sky this Saturday June 20th. Our Online Services Ordering System Is Back Up And Running Properly!

Back in April we were notified of an issue with our online ordering for services.

When you order any of our services, you’re linked to PayPal’s secure transaction site. But the ordering window is adding a Shipping and Handling charge where it hadn’t been doing so before. Nor should it be doing that at all.

We contacted PayPal and reported the issue back in April. We’ve been exchanging emails, but we’re not getting anywhere with PayPal. I’m not exactly happy with their customer service right now.

Today I reviewed what we had learned and started doing my own search for a solution.  I went through their entire site, instructions, frequently occurring problems and update notifications and finally found an obscure notation from another seller having the same issue. They said an update to the system, duplicated the “selling price” into the “shipping price” and here’s where they fixed it. I followed what they did and tada…sure enough I found the same thing and was able to zero out the shipping and handling costs.

We’re doing a final test this evening and we should be ok for online ordering tomorrow.

Decoration Day
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. Waterloo N.Y. was officially declared the birthplace of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it’s difficult to prove conclusively the origins of the day.

Regardless of the exact date or location of its origins, one thing is clear – Memorial Day was borne out of the Civil War and a desire to honor our dead. It was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11. “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing with flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country during the late rebellion, and whose bodies now lie in almost every city, village and hamlet churchyard in the land,” he proclaimed.

The date of Decoration Day, as he called it, was chosen because it wasn’t the anniversary of any particular battle.
