Retrogrades : Venus & Mercury

Venus 15 May 2012 to 27 Jun 2012

Venus Love

Venus Love

This week Venus moved into its retrograde state. It’s affects will influence our emotions until the end of June.

How Retrogrades Impact Our Lives
Sometimes when we look out into space, other planets appear to be traveling backwards through the sky. Although planets are always moving forward, an optical illusion throughout the year causes the planets to appear to be traveling backwards. We call this motion a retrograde.

From an astrological perspective, these optical illusions impact the flow of energy here on Earth. Thus each planetary retrograde affects us as individuals and as a global society. How they affect us depends on the energy of the planet and it’s impact in the astrological charts. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Ace of Cups – Inverted

Ace of Cups - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Sometimes we can protect ourselves from the rain, by showing others love and compassion. When you walk the path of kindness, tolerance and acceptance you heal the world around you. In doing so, you’ll find that even if someone tries to turn your world upside down, your cup will still remain full and overflowing with blessings.

Additional Insight:

The real test of the day is walking the path of spirit in the real world. Putting your beliefs and perspectives into practice can be challenging at times. And you will face those challenges today. Take a moment to reflect on what you believe and how you want to live your life. When you’re confronted with a challenge today, consciously make the choice to Walk Your Talk©! A simple pat on the back, rub of a shoulder or kind word to someone who is filled with anxiety and anger can show your compassion and kindness. Even when their anger is directed squarely at you.

The Seven Point Guide to Self Fulfillment

Wisdom From The Dalai Lama

14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso

Last night (4/25/2012) on Piers Morgan Tonight, Piers interviewed the Dalai Lama. Just because I’m pagan doesn’t mean I can’t learn from and appreciate teachings and wisdom from those of other faiths. And everyone can learn much from the Dalai Lama. It was an excellent and fascinating interview, perhaps the best interview of the Dalai Lama I’ve ever seen.

His honesty is so refreshing in this time of “spin” and out right lies from political leaders, celebrities, and yes even from the spiritual community itself. His optimism is inspiring and by itself can give one hope for a better world. What struck me the most was that he isn’t so optimistic as to be delusional about what can be attainable. He’s much more of a realist than I had ever thought someone in his position could be. And that impressed the heck out of me!

At the end of the show, Piers tells his viewers that here in America we spend $11 billion on the self help and self improvement industry. We spend so much time looking outside ourselves to find happiness, that we forget to look within our own selves, in our actions and our practices. But the Dalai Lama has a cheaper way of finding happiness.

Here are the Dalai Lama’s words of wisdom in his 7 Point Guide to Self Fulfillment:  Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Nine of Pentacles – Inverted

9 of Pentacles - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Sometimes you have to turn things upside down and view them from a different perspective in order to see what’s really going on. You might even notice the abundance falling from above and prepare to catch them as they fall. Not everything is as it seems on the surface, so take the time to look beyond your normal vision. Stand on your head once in a while, shake things up, and you just might find some ‘loving’ care and kindness coming your way too!

Additional Insight:

Often times our physical eyes and emotions get in the way of seeing what’s really going on around us. Our fears and personal desires can cloud our judgement causing us to see through rose colored glasses, or through fear and trepidation. Because of this we can get ourselves into trouble, missing the signs that are clearly visible. Or we can miss opportunities that are being sent our way and only realize what we lost after it’s gone.

Stop for a moment and turn things upside down and you will have a totally different perspective today on what’s really happening around you. You’ll be able to see people and situations for what they truly are today. You’ll avoid the manipulations, and free your hands to catch the gifts from above that are coming YOUR way. Escaping the attempts of someone else who’s trying to cause you to miss the opportunity for their own selfish means, or take it from you for their own gratification.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing – Five of Cups

5 of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

You already have what you’re crying over, so why are you crying over what you have right in your lap? There’s no need to search, no need to alter who you are, no need to feel lost. Open your eyes and take another look at what you already have in your life. You might finally realize you had it all along and simply weren’t seeing the whole forest for the trees blocking your view.

Additional Insight:

Don’t let your emotions get the best of you and keep you from seeing that you already have the thing you want most today. You’re trying to create a perfect situation out of an imperfect world. Nothing in life is perfect. Everyone makes sacrifices and faces challenges. It’s how you face those issues that allow you to see the blessings that bring the real joy from life. So snap out of it. You have a lot more going for you than against you!

Should You Really Follow Your Heart?

Which Is The Better Guide: Emotions or Instincts?

Happy Valentines Day to one and all.

The Alpha'sToday many people will experience new love, others will rekindle old love, and some will find the strength to walk away from destructive love. It’s a day where people often allow their emotions and heart to get in the way of what they need and allow what they want to take over. But are your emotions the better guide to making the right choices?

The answer might be easier to figure out than you think. We often tell people to “Follow your Heart” when making important decisions. While that might sound like good advice, it’s often the wrong thing to say. Our heart or emotions are often clouded by a variety of psychological elements. Past hurts, nagging voices in our subconscious, fear and trepidation of a potential future of pain and distress all play a role in forming our emotions and emotional responses. Continue reading

Holding Respect With Love

Imitate Nature's RespectThe Key To Successful Relationships

It seems today that our society has created an environment that makes it near to impossible for people to find deep loving and long lasting relationships. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) tracks marriage and divorce rates in the U.S.

In 2002 Report 23, Number 22 they presented one of the last statistical reviews of American marriages. Among the findings in the report: unmarried co-habitations overall are less stable than marriages.  The probability of a first marriage ending in separation or divorce within 5 years is 20 percent, but the probability of a premarital cohabitation breaking up within 5 years is 49 percent. After 10 years, the probability of a first marriage ending is 33 percent, compared with 62 percent for co-habitations.

But they don’t explain what happens to second marriages or co-habitations. I personally fall in that category and I’d be interested in knowing what the statistics show. We’ve been together 10years and we have a son. We have no plans on changing our co-habitation into a legal marriage. We had that license in the first relationships and both of those failed. Maybe they’ll cover that in the next decade. Continue reading
