In 2008 I took on a personal quest to satisfy a desire for personal validation. I had decades of knowledge and experience in my spiritual path, but some how I felt that I didn’t have the right to call myself a teacher or spiritual minister. This was simply something I felt was lacking within my own confidence.

I was serious about my mission and what I wanted to accomplish with my teachings. I was often praised for my classes and lectures, consultations, healing and helping others. But those compliments didn’t satisfy my own inner perspective of my, let’s call it authority for lack of a better word. I did my research of universities, colleges, cost of enrollment and which programs would support my pagan beliefs and focus on the foundation of those beliefs from a metaphysical and shamanistic perspective. I settled on the degree programs of the 50+ year organization of the International Metaphysical Ministry (IMM) offered through one of their institutes of higher learning, the University of Sedona. Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

A Tale of Caution

Today’s 12/17 Tarot Meditation Message received a comment on Facebook that generated a bit of interest. So much so that I received a few emails and FB message about it. I acquired permission from the comment poster to share what she said and to give a little tale that I hope answers some of the messages and emails I received.

Let me first put this in context.

The Facebook Tarot Meditation Promo:
Being a spiritual being isn’t measured by who yells the loudest or who degrades other beliefs the most. It comes from living your life in the every day actions according to what you believe. What you express to others is what you will receive back. If you want respect for your beliefs, you must first give respect to others and their beliefs. ~ Click the link to read all of today’s message.

Myranda’s Comment to the Promo Post:
Perfect for me. A “Christian” in my office overheard me talking to one of my friends who is a new pagan about Yule. The Christian felt the need to interrupt us and tell my friend she’s too young to listen to a devil worshiper and she needed to come with her “right now” and pray to God for protection. Some people are amazingly ignorant. Continue reading

Another Friday the 13th

Thirteen On Springwolf ReflectionsOne Last Time For 2013

This week marks Friday December 13th, 2013 and many people are wondering what is it with Friday the 13th days anyway? What does it mean, where did this spooky tradition start and is it really a day for bad luck?

It’s known as “Black Friday” or “Black Cat Day” and fear of Friday the 13th is known as triskaidekaphobes. It may not surprise many people to know it’s not a world-wide thing. It’s pretty much an Anglo-European/American thing.

As with many evil and spooky occasions such as this, fear of Friday the 13th began with the vilification of pagan beliefs and practices from the early Christian Church. What a surprise! But this isn’t about them, it’s about Friday the 13th for December 2013! Continue reading

Sunday Homily: Mindfulness

mindfulbellBeing Aware

Mindfulness, which, among other things, is an attentive awareness of the reality of things (especially of the present moment). Living in the now and being cognizant of the events you are engaged in at this moment in time.

It’s important to take a moment throughout the day to be Mindful of what you’re thing, how you’re allowing those thoughts to impact what you’re doing and how it resonates with your soul, spiritual mission and mental outlook. Both for a state of being and for a sense of living your beliefs and putting them into practice.

The thoughts you wake up with in the morning create your day. How you think through out the day, create your week. The patterns you develop throughout the month, create your year.

How you think, creates your reality, your health and your life.

It is a state of being where balance and peace within the moment, within the self and being are the center of all things. It’s not just looking at your thoughts, but your present state of attitude and how that translates into the manifestation of actions and reactions.

If you are stressed, anxious or angry, those emotions will translate through you and into your actions. If you’re at peace and mindful of your thoughts, then the energy you create and express will be calm and enlightened. Do you want to yell at the person driving next to you on the highway? Or at the store clerk who’s taking to long to ring up your items? Or is there a way you can translate your spiritual awareness into calm peace and discover why you’re being held up in the first place? Continue reading

Picking Up On Global Events

packhowlImpacting Universal Consciousness

Last week on my facebook page, I asked a question;
“Have you experienced any unusual psychic feelings about something global in the past 2 months? If so, explain.”

Thank you to everyone who answered. We discussed the question and the answers on Monday night’s Ænigma Project, which you can listen to in the recorded podcast.

Because we humans can be easily influenced I wanted to ask a question, without giving too much information.  And I asked those who responded to refrain from reading the other replies until after they’ve posted their own answer, so as not to be influenced by someone else. The responses were all similar in nature with a feeling of foreboding, changes and sadness. Continue reading

Happy December!

yuleforest11 Days Till Yule Begins!

It seems like this year has gone by so quickly. But here in the northern hemisphere, the air has grown colder, the leaves have fallen, or are almost gone and our attention turns to the season of peace and joy.

For we Pagan Metaphysicians, that means it’s almost time for Yule. The 12 days of December where we honor the spirits of the Triple Goddess, the return of the God King and the enlightenment within ourselves and toward those around us.

Yule is a 12 day holiday, that begins on the evening of the Winter Solstice known as “Mother’s Night” (December 21st) and ends 12 days later on “Yule Night” (January 1st).

These festival celebrations are observed from sunset to sunset. In addition to honoring the Divine aspects of the Universe, this is also a time to go within and align one’s soul to the Divine and review the spiritual mission and lessons one has chosen for this lifetime. It’s not simply a time for reverent honor of the Divine, but for putting the gifts the Divine brings into practical manifestation in your life.

Yuletide is broken down into 4 observances.

  • Dec. 20 to Dec. 23. During the 1st 3 days –
The virgin Maiden Goddess is honored as your guide for moving forward into the new year, to set you on the right and positive path. For many this is a time to align with the Maiden Goddess and go within to discern where your soul “needs”you to be vs. where your physical brain/heart “wants” you to be.
  • Dec. 23 to Dec. 26. The 2nd set of 3 days –
The Mother Goddess is honored for fertility and all your coming endeavors. Again this is a reverent celebration that looks to align your soul with the greater Divine Creation of the Mother Goddess. To focus on what you “need” to create in your life to carry your soul forward on its spiritual mission.
  • Dec. 26 to Dec 29. The 3rd set of 3 days –
These 3 days are set aside for the rebirth of the God, and honoring his guidance through the physical world. For many this is making plans and putting the spiritual knowledge learned from Maiden and Mother Goddess into practical steps. To physically create the spiritual insight that was attained.
  • Dec. 29 to Jan. 1. –
The last 3 days are set aside for the Old Crone Goddess who is honored for wisdom and as your teacher into the cosmic lessons of life and spirit. In modern times, under the solar calendar, she might also be honored as the waning year giving way to the new year. Here many people align with the wise Old Crone to review their spiritual lessons and karmic mission. What have they cleared and what have they gained. What holds them back and how do they embrace the wisdom of the Divine and move forward into the coming year.

Festival celebrations vary greatly from one Pagan tradition (what we call our denominations) to the next. Even within the same tradition each individual group (coven, clan, grove etc) can implement different practices for celebration.

A Sunday Homily – Believe In Yourself

Believe In Yourself!

Believe In Yourself!

Learn To Handle The Pressure

It’s not just something ministers try to teach for spiritual enlightenment. It’s also a big part of any competitive sport or business management course. Believing in yourself is a practice that crosses all avenues of life and can provide strength, endurance and success over nearly every challenge we face.

Bob Rotella is a sports psychologist. I learned about him through a Nascar segment that looks at the inner workings of drivers and teams. Yeah, of all places? Yep..even Nascar teams face pressure and challenges to be successful. Bob helps people find their true potential in life, said many of these auto-sports professionals. Many people are “normal” and good at what they do. But many want to take it to the next level. Especially professional athletes. But they’re not the only people who are looking for the keys to success or to help them deal with the pressures of life and attaining the success of their dreams and goals. Continue reading

Please Vote Today!

Get Out And VOTE!

Being A Responsible Citizen

Here in the U.S. we are having mid-term elections. To some this is more important than the vote for President. Why? Because the mid-terms help to determine what happens in Congress and how our country is best served by its political leaders.

This isn’t an editorial about politics, so I won’t go into specific details about which party is better, or who needs to be ousted. What’s important today is that you get out and vote!

There are a huge many reasons people don’t get out and vote. They’re too busy. They aren’t excited about either candidate. The weather is too bad to get out in. Their vote doesn’t really matter. And nothing ever gets done, anyway.

In our current political environment, there’s the negative tone of campaign ads thrown at the electorate day and night. The majority of TV ads don’t try to persuade voters to support one candidate, but rather to convince them not to back the other guy.

So why should we be part of the process? Because we don’t want to be part of the problem. And keeping silent does that.

“Why is it important to vote? Continue reading

The Shield of Success

Carpe Diem Wolf Shield by Springwolf

Seize The Day

Visualizing and Creating A Shield of Success

Everyone has a dream, a desire or a goal for their life. Those that succeed and attain their goals work hard for them. Sometimes it may appear as if they’ve had everything handed to them. If their road has been made easier and their path  paved the way to their achievements, they may have earned that golden ticket. Karma is an interesting thing, but sometimes good karma does come back and reward you for your actions.

Simply because someone else had it easy, doesn’t mean their success diminishes or impacts your ability to achieve the same thing. There maybe underlying spiritual reasons that they’ve had it easy and you need to work a little harder. But your lessons are more important to you and your life, than what they have done or did to earn the golden ticket. It’s up to you to take some time and learn what you need to in order to keep the ball moving.

One thing I’ve learned about people who have achieved success is that they never give up. No matter what wall is set before them, they look for a way to climb it, break it down or even find another way around it. But they never let the wall stop them and say “Oh well, I guess this is as far as I go.”

Sometimes that means looking for solutions outside the norm, or thinking outside the box. When I started Spring’s Haven I took a few business classes to get a good understanding about what it takes to start a small business. Continue reading
