Merry Samhain

Samhain is a Gaelic word that literally translates to  “Summer’s End”. It’s pronounced as sow-en, sow-ween, and yes, for some the Americanized Sam-hain really is acceptable. The holiday reminds us that things change and that includes the words we use, how we use them and even how we say them.

For the Celts, it marks the new year and the renewal of the Wheel of Life. We remember that all things move and change through observances of the changing seasons in the explosion of color (in fall or spring). The only constant in the Divine Universe is that things change. How they change depends on you. For what you think, say and do create the world around you.

Samhain is seen as the night when the dead come through the veil of the Otherworld and visit their living relatives and friends to join in ritual celebrations. This makes Samhain one of the most perfect times to communicate with spirits and honor the loved ones lost during this past year. Continue reading

For some this holiday is a festival that is celebrated over a period of days. From 1 night, to 3 or even a full week of 7. Some even take 9 full days to recognize the Triple Goddess of Maiden, Mother and Crone to honor the transitions of the Wheel, Circle or Cycle of life. Continue reading

Happy Full Moon Friday the 13th!

The Full MoonMay The Day Bring You Blessings

It is said that wishing on a Full Moon is very magikal. Like any grand parent, she wants to spoil her daughter’s children.  While Mother Earth is asleep, Grand Mother Moon listens to our prayers and wishes to make our dreams come true.

And it is said that Friday the 13th is a day that brings good luck for transition and change. Breaking down barriers and overcoming struggle, it’s a day to let your magik shine.

Use the day, and especially the time after sunset to bring about Good Luck and positive energy that promotes the success for the change and transition you want most in your life.

Everyone here at Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven wish you and yours many blessings on this special day that only comes around once in a very rare occasion. Enjoy the day and night with this full moon blessing: Continue reading

Have A Spooktacular Day!!

Merry Samhain & Happy Halloween

Today is a day to let the child inside come out to play. Nothing wrong with having fun and letting yourself play a little.

Halloween has become a secular holiday for Trick or Treat and nothing else. It’s not a Pagan holiday and it’s no longer a Christian holiday. So let the children play and have some unencumbered fun!

Once the children have had their fill at play, you can focus on the spiritual aspects of the day. For Pagans that means honoring Samhain.

Whither you use the Gaelic pronunciation “Sow-en”, “Sow-ween”, Sah-ween” or the Americanized version “Sam-hain” (yes that is an acceptable pronunciation), it’s still the biggest holiday on the Pagan Calendar. We honor the Celtic New Year with ritual and reverence to honor the spirits of the past and the doorway that has been opened for this one night to communicate with those we’ve lost.

From everyone here at Spring’s Haven, we wish you a very Happy Halloween, a Merry Samhain and a Happy New Year!

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Fool –

The Fool

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Don’t be so serious. Have some fun and enjoy life. There’s a lot of reasons to smile and laugh. You don’t have to be the stick in the mud who can’t see through the struggle at the good things. Yes things are tough, yes you’ve been fighting hard to stay afloat. But you’ve also got some great blessings in your life that have nothing to do with money. Stop looking at what you don’t have! Start enjoying what you do have and you’ll find the smile and laughter again.

Additional Insight:

Everyone can get down from time to time. The more stress and anxiety you have on your shoulders the longer and farther down you can get. When you focus on all the negative things that have happened or might occur in the day to come, you pull more of that negative energy toward you. That makes it hard to smile and laugh at the things you used to have fun with. Nothing seems funny now, because of the weight of all the negative things that have happened.

But if you can focus on the good things, the possibilities and the potentials, you can pull more positive energy onto your path and help turn things around. You have a lot of blessings to connect with if you’ll simply take the time to look.

If you’re reading this post, you can be thankful for the resources that have provided you pc and internet connection to do that. Even if that resource is the local library. If you’re looking at this from your smart phone, you can be thankful you have the world at your fingertips and the resources to have the phone and the cell service. If you’re looking at this from a friends pc or phone; there’s nothing more valuable than that friendship.

There are many little things we take for granted everyday. Stop for a moment. Stand or sit still and look around you. What is by your side that you’re thankful to have in your life? Kids? A partner that loves you? Friends? What about the pet you give love to and get enjoyment or support from. Even fish have blessings they give to those who have them!  Count your blessings. You’ll probably find you have a lot to smile about.

If you’re feeling so down that you can’t shake the feeling, consider talking to your doctor, or a local medical care center about depression. People who appear to be functioning normally through every day life can be stricken with clinical depression and not realize it. Learn more about the seriousness of depression at the National Institute of Mental Health. There is help out there for all who need it. You don’t even have to have medical insurance to get it.
