The Spirituality Of The Tarot

An Increase In Interest

Over the past few weeks I’ve received an unusual number of emails asking for information about the tarot, their history and general overview. I’m not sure what has sparked this increased interest, but I’d like to know. Was it a TV show? A movie? A new popular book?

Whatever the reason, I thought it would be easier to reply to those notes in a post that hopefully folks can find through an online search. I hope this provides some quicker answers than waiting for me to get through my email.

A Basic Overview
They are called the messengers of the Divine, the window to Universal Law and the sacred symbols of the higher consciousness. Whatever their auspicious synonym, the Tarot has been mentioned in ancient texts for over 35,000 years.

One such text, from the Hermetic Kabbalah, tells of 108 stone tablets that lay beneath the ancient pyramids at Giza. 78 of these tablets are called the Exoteric Tarot, the remaining 30 are the Esoteric Tarot. This text goes on to say, that one day these tablets will be uncovered and will explain Universal Law and the soul’s path through the cycle of rebirth. Continue reading

Four of Swords - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

If you don’t respect yourself, how are you going to respect those around you? Your negative self talk is imprinting on those you care most about, causing them to feel inadequate and worthless. Stop trying to make up for your perceived inadequacy established by those in your past. They don’t define who you are. That’s your job. So create a positive and good definition of yourself and live to it. Walk your own talk!

Additional Insight:

Swords represent Strength & Weakness, Struggle & Endurance, Animosity & Respect.

You project how you feel, even how you feel about yourself. It can appear to others as if that projection is what you think of them. Don’t expect others to be able to read your thoughts or intentions. Even the best psychics have clouded vision when it comes to those they love or care about. Even if that’s not what you mean, could be that’s what they see when you look at them or speak to them.

What others have said to you in the past is only true and real if you take their words to heart. Why accept the hateful negative descriptions about you from someone who obviously didn’t respect you? That doesn’t even make sense.

Someone close to you has shutdown because they can’t take on any more negativity. Especially from your own projection. Show some compassion for yourself and stop using them as a reflection. It’s not their baggage to carry for you.

And if the one you’re with is the one trying to define you in a negative way, then maybe it’s time to address the problem and confront them. If they’re not willing to work with you to resolve the issue, then it might be time to move on. Clean the mirror, or buy a new one for a better and more clear impression of yourself.

You decide what reflections you hold in your life. If you want respect, you need to give it. If you want positive consideration, than look in the mirror with compassion and love. You’ll reflect that energy not only to yourself, but to those you love and care about too.
