GrandMother Moon In Perigee

The Full Moon

Full Moon Perigee – June 23, 2013
The Largest Full Moon Of The Year

The Energy Of The Moon

On Sunday June 23, 2013 the moon will enter its full moon phase and it’s point of perigee for the year. Perigee occurs once a year when the moon is at its closest point to Earth during its orbit around our world. This makes it appear larger from our perspective and thus its the largest Full Moon of 2013.

Perigee doesn’t always occur when the moon enters its full phase. So when that happens, it’s extra special to Pagans. When it does happen, the occurrence is referred to as a “SuperMoon“-Wikipedia.

If you’re pagan, you may want to schedule a special ritual for this SuperMoon which occurs tomorrow night. You can check for Moon rise in your area through the WorldClock – Moonrise and Moonset Calculator.

This full moon is known as the Strawberry Moon as the gardens are bursting with berries. Letting us know life is full of sweet flavor. Ages ago, cultures around the world kept track of the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full moon. Their names were applied to the entire month in which the full moon occurred. Today we have the advantage of aligning our energies with the cultures we’re drawn to, or to the perspective our tradition follows. So if you’re of a European tradition, or Norse or Native American tradition; you can pick and choose the name set that you feel most connected to. Learn more at Naming The Full Moon.

The Moon and Pagans
For early pagan cultures, the Moon was often referred to as Grand Mother Moon and she was seen as the Crone aspect of the Goddess. She rises in the sky to watch over Mother Earth and precedes Father Sun across the sky. Continue reading

The World - Inverted

The Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Take some time to care for your garden and add a little energy to nurture and feed it. Your dreams and plans will only realize manifestation if you work on them. They’re not going to appear out of thin air from thought and visualization alone. You will have to get your hands dirty too.

Additional Insight:

Simply dreaming about what you want or will do once your dream manifests will not bring your plans into reality. You must also put in the practical work to make them happen. So stop making excuses or talking yourself out of doing the worked needed.

Whether its writing things down, researching what’s needed and making notes, you need to get busy. Make the effort toward putting fingers to keyboards to complete documents, advertisements or start blogging about your venture, you need to get to work.

No one is going to hand you a prize, wrapped in a bow with a secret key inside that simply makes it all happen. If you want it, you’re going to have to do some work for it. While that includes the spiritual enhancement of guiding energy toward your goal, that energy can’t do it alone. Continue reading

Happy Summer Celebrations

Happy Solstice Celebrations

The Summer Solstice Beacons

Today is a day to take notice of Father Sun and honor his warmth and light as summer officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere. The Solstice is a time that many look forward to and it’s celebrated around the world both as a spiritual holiday and a scientific event. For Pagan’s it is a day to dance around the bonfires and celebrate the Mid-Summer Solstice Day.

Everyone here at Spring’s Haven and Springwolf Reflections would like to wish you all a wonderful, happy and safe Mid-Summer celebration!

In legend and lore the Solstice begins the great battle between the Oak King of Spring and Summer and the Holly King of Fall and Winter. In the Northern Hemisphere the battle favors the Oak King who fights to keep the Sun’s warmth upon the Earth over the next few months. In the Southern Hemisphere, the battle favors the Holly King who shades the Earth and brings on the cold of winter. Continue reading

High Holy Days: Southern Hemisphere

Howling Dingo

A subspecies of the wolf, our cousin the Dingo

The Pagan Sabbats In The Southern Hemisphere

The early pagans around the world were very balanced in the way they scheduled their lives. One of the places this is seen most clear are in the High Holy days.

Each festival celebration falls in between a solstice or equinox. But the holidays were also celebrations of the seasons and the change of energy throughout the year.

Additionally, Pagans are pretty big on using the right energy in concert with the right movement of time and space. In other words, we align our conscious thoughts and connections with the Divine in our lives based on the energy that surrounds us.

Simply put, how you relate to the world around you and how you feel connected to the “this or that” in your life, all depends on where you are and the beliefs you choose to follow. It doesn’t makes sense to align your energy with the warm summer sun when outside your window it’s snowing like a blizzard. Because of this, the Southern Hemisphere sees the holidays differently than we do here in the North. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Hermit – Inverted

The Hermit : Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Reach within and find your own light. Don’t try to be like someone else, it will only take you away from the path you’re meant to travel. You have your own light that’s meant to guide your way out of the darkness. Stop hiding it and pushing it down beneath the service. Reach within yourself and allow your light to shine with pride and glory.

Additional Insight:

It’s hard enough being yourself without trying to change everything on your plate to be like someone else’s table. They don’t have your past, both in this incarnation and the last…hundreds of lifetimes. They don’t carry your karmic rewards and they don’t hold your spiritual lessons.

Your table is equally as lovely. Even though it’s decorated with different items and flavors, it represents you and what you are drawn to. It’s not fake, or filled with show, because it has substance and meaning. Don’t discard it. You own it and it’s not on loan from someone else who can take it away from you on a whims notice.

You don’t always know what others have gone through to acquire their table settings. It may look great now, but the path to their party may be fraught with emotional scars and turmoil you never had to go through. Don’t aspire to be like someone else. You may regret what you asked for and the consequences of the trauma you might go through to get there. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: King of Swords

King of Swords

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Strength and fortitude will win the day. That doesn’t mean you must use brawn to exert your muscles. It takes a good deal of intelligence and wisdom to be the leader that solves conflict without a physical fight. But if you control your temper and work through the discord, you will be the victor in more ways than seem apparent today.

Additional Insight:

In today’s world survival of the fittest isn’t measured in brawn and who has the biggest weapons. That attitude no longer suits the energy within and around Mother Earth.

Survival of the most spiritual is the measuring stick that will hold up in conflict. Who lives by the convictions of their beliefs in a positive way, no matter what those beliefs are (even if there are no spiritual beliefs at all). You cannot spout scripture and “Love they neighbor”, then walk out the door and denounce the person in the news or down the street who chooses to live different beliefs than you.

You cannot condemn all people who hold beliefs simply because you see them as ignorant or irrelevant, yet hold yourself up as the higher intelligence. No one truly knows what is unseen or unknown in the Divine Universe.

Everyone is walking their own path in this incarnation and they are where they need to be at this time. Your journey may not be parallel to theirs, but it’s not better, or worse, than theirs is. It’s merely where you need to be at this point and time in your physical life. But with free will and choice you decide if your path goes down hill and faces struggles that put your lessons to the test. Or if you pass the quiz and move toward the fork in the road that leads you upward toward wisdom and enlightenment.

Accepting others for who and what they are is the road toward enlightenment. You don’t have to agree with them, you don’t have live as they do. And you don’t have to abandon your convictions, “if” they walk the positive road. You can disagree with an idea or a concept. But if you denounce others for who and what they are, all you are doing is living in hypocrisy. Don’t sit in judgement of others. In the end, the one you may be judging is yourself.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Four of Swords – Inverted

Four of Swords - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Relax, you’re not alone. Someone is always watching over you from spirit and trying to support you through your day. In times of stress and anxiety, all you need to do is clam down, close your eyes and talk to them. The hard part is trusting your instincts and being willing to listen to what they say with an open mind. Sometimes, the answer is “no” for a reason.

Additional Insight:

In times of turmoil and struggle it’s easy for people to feel alone. Even when they’re in a house filled with people. But you’re never truly alone when you have a connect to the Divine Consciousness in your life. There’s always someone watching over you.

Whether you believe in Angels, Spirit Guides or simply close relatives who have passed on, you always have someone you can relate to and talk to. Even if all you believe in is a Divine Spirit, that force is great enough to listen to you and provide insight into your troubles.

The hard part is being willing to make the connection to Spirit and being open enough to listen to the guidance and answers that come your way. Sometimes what you want isn’t what you need and it’s important to be open to the possibility of hearing “no” as a reply.

Even in times of sorrow there are reasons you hit blocks and challenges. Maybe it’s not the right road for you to take at this time. Maybe you’re not ready for what will cross that road up ahead. Or maybe there’s a much better path for you to follow that better supports your spiritual mission in this incarnation. Hear “no” might be hard, but it will be a lot easier to listen now than it will be 6 months down the road when you have invested much more of yourself, time and potentially money on the wrong choices.

As with everything in life; be careful what you ask for…you might get it and find out too late it’s not really what you needed.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Devil

The Devil

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

You’re being followed by someone who wants you all to themselves. Be cautious what invitations to accept. The diversion might be flattering, but the results can get you into some hot water and derail your plans. You’ve worked very hard recovering from past events that tried to bring you down. Don’t throw all that away for a simple smile or batting of the eyes. Their selfish desires might be your undoing.

Additional Insight:

When this little fairy appears, he’s usually warning you about paying attention to the details – “The Devil is in the details, so be cautious”. Today he’s warning about a shadow that’s following you around.

Either a person or an opportunity to fall back on old ways, the shadow behind you is one you left behind in the past. And it should stay there! Don’t let the negativity pull you back from all that you have achieved so far. You’ve come a long way from that struggling person you were and you’ve walked into a more positive present.

The “calling” may be strong and enticing. The stress and anxiety from today may seem overwhelming and you might wonder “well why not this one time”? But this one time will unravel ALL the work you have done to this point. Don’t give in to temptation today and you’ll be able to say “No” more easily for the rest of the week and month.

Don’t allow others to sweet talk you into something you’ll regret later. You have set your plans in place, put forth the effort to make them reality, worked hard to overcome the obstacles and have grown stronger through the self discipline. You don’t need someone else to validate who you have become. You don’t need their approval to be a better person who’s in control of their future. You have changed..and in a good way. Leave the old devils behind and keep moving forward to the place you are meant to be. You can do this! You are strong enough to walk forward. You are the one who approves and validates who you are. Believe in yourself. You will be the victor in the end!
