Watch for the underlying motives of the gifts you receive. They seem wonderful at first, until you’re asked to do a favor you normally wouldn’t do. It may all be innocent, but make sure you consider all the consequences before proceeding or saying yes simply out of guilt or a feeling of being indebted.

Additional Insight:

Sometimes gifts come with strings attached. It’s nice to get the attention, but the wrong attention can be worse than no attention at all. Don’t let your desperation fall into a trap. Not everyone is as kind and compassionate as you and they maybe trying to use you for their own self-centered reasons or cause.

It’s not always easy to say thank you, but you can’t accept this. But it maybe the best thing for you to do this week. Showing that you have the strength, confidence and respect for yourself will go a lot farther in attracting the right sort into your life. It will also put those who think of you as weak and vulnerable on notice to “back off”.

Before others can respect you, you must respect yourself. So give it a go and watch what happens when real positive people recognize what you have hidden beneath the surface.

Caution is required today. Someone is trying to stab you in the back while being your best friend to your face. Don’t take words at face value. Make sure you look beyond the talk and examine the actions behind the communication. Don’t let others zap your strength and take your focus on your goals. They’re really not worth it.

Additional Insight:

Actions speak louder than words. And they’re usually the real expression of how someone feels about you. Trust your instincts and listen to that inner voice telling you things aren’t what they seem to be.

Don’t look at things with rose colored glasses. You maybe trying to live on the positive path of a spiritual person, that doesn’t mean you have to set yourself up to be hurt or harmed out of desperation. You deserve better.

Being spiritual also means learning to use your own instincts and higher perceptions to keep you out of harms way. What you see today is only the surface of things to come. So don’t waste your time on someone who doesn’t deserve your attention. You may regret it in the end.

You can shine brightly in the day or night. Don’t leave your best characteristics for the dark where few see it. Be yourself during the day and you’ll be surprised at the positive reaction you receive. You’re worth knowing and many around you would like to get to know you better. So step out of the shadows and let your light shine.

Additional Insight:

Stop hiding behind the computer monitor, cell phone, text messages, twitter, facebook and every other way you communicate in secret. People want to get to know you and the walls you put up during the day keeps them away. It also keeps you secluded from the real you who is dying to get out and shine.

Trying to hide behind the walls does a disservice to you, your talents, knowledge and wisdom. Trying to be what others think you are or expect you to be, does a disservice to your spirit and your mission in this life.

Don’t come across as stand-offish, or arrogant and uppity. Simply be yourself day or night and let others get to know the real you. You can gain friends and influence more people than you think. That’s good for you, good for your social life, good for you career and ultimately good for your spirit.

Sharing Wisdom With Your Younger Self

What Would You Say?

All week I’ve heard about this letter that Dale Earnhardt Jr. professional Nascar driver, wrote to his 16 year old self. The letter was part of a CBS News project that aired September 12, 2012.

As reported by the media, other Nascar fans and friends who shared their thoughts on the letter, it’s a very moving insight from one of racing’s premier drivers. It reflects on relationships, worries, his career and it even has some humor tossed in for good measure.

It is indeed a very moving reflection from a man who is not comfortable with being in the limelight each and every time he steps through the door. And it made me wonder, if you wrote a letter to your 16 year old self, what would you say? Continue reading →

Celebrating The Fall Equinox

Mabon (May-bawn) is also known as the Feast of Avalon, the Festival of the Wine and the Festival of the Apple Harvest. Celebrated on the Fall Equinox.

To the Celts, Avalon is the mysterious place for the land of the dead and literally means the “land of apples”. Thus this is a holiday for celebrating the bounty of the harvest and the desire for the living to be reunited with their deceased loved ones. But the holiday is also named for the Welsh God Mabon.

Mabon translates to the “great son”, but some say it’s the “great sun” and relates to the waning reign of the Sun in the sky as summer fades and the season changes to beacon the darkness of fall and winter.

From mythology, Mabon the person was the son of Modred who was kidnapped at the age of 3 and later rescued by King Arthur. His life represents the innocence of youth, the strength of survival and the growing wisdom of the elderly. Continue reading →

Shake out the creativity and inspiration from beneath the surface and you’ll find a solution to the communication problems. No one is listening. It’s hard to hear what each other is saying when you’re being stubborn and have your ears closed. You can spend the day/weekend in silence, or act like adults and talk it out.

Additional Insight:

You might hear what’s being “yelled”, but you’re not listening to what’s being said. And neither are they. Yelling only makes things worse and causes people to say things they don’t mean in order to hurt each other. It’s a pointless use of energy.

Stop yelling and start listening. You’re the one who keeps saying you want to work on things and change them for the better. Yet you’re still facing each issue with the same chip on your shoulder. Knock it off; you’re not perfect and yet you’re expecting others to be infallible.

If you’re going to claim to walk a spiritual path and be a spiritual person then you must live up to your talk. Other wise you’re only spinning your wheels and fooling yourself. So shut up, sit down, and listen to what’s being said. There is fear and anxiety behind the words being spoken and you have the ability to help ease those emotions. Both in them and in yourself!

Don’t be blinded by rash judgements. Things aren’t as they appear to be, but they’re not what you think they are either. Your walls of skepticism are clouding your judgement and allowing your fear or anxiety to get the best of you. So before you toot your horn too loudly, make sure you have all the facts and have done a little investigation before you make a final decision.

Additional Insight:

Don’t claim more than you can prove or accomplish. Your reputation is respected and you’re being asked to do more than before. That’s great and brings new opportunities for success and recognition. But be careful what you take on. It’s ok to admit you’ve never done that, but you’re willing to give it a try. Others will respect you for admitting your lack of experience and your willingness to learn.

However, if you claim you’ve done something before and you’re “hired” for your experience in that matter, you better make sure you can deliver. Not doing so will harm your reputation not only for this position, but for many others to come. The word will get around and it will be hard to recover from.

If you’re the one making the offer, don’t assume the person you’re contacting can’t do the job simply because they don’t know the proper buzz words. If they’re willing to try and you like their gun-ho attitude and experience in other areas, consider giving them a chance. You may want to check in on them a little more often to see how they’re doing and to offer help. But don’t automatically assume they can’t do the task. They may be the best worker you’ve ever partnered with.

Stop the negative talk, and start the positive walk!

Things aren’t going to fall apart, even if you turn them upside down. You’ve got to stop worrying! Stop expecting the other shoe to drop and focus on what you can do, instead of what you can’t or don’t have. You must believe in yourself and focus on what has changed; because they have changed for the better. Don’t keep pulling the negative toward you, and allow the positive to do its magik!

Additional Insight:

You’ve been work so hard on making positive changes in your life, yet you’re still fighting against them. Why? Believe in yourself, even when no one else does!

You have already proven you can do this, so just get to it. Stop listening to the critics in your head, they don’t really know you or what you’ve been through. Stop listening to the past fears and worries, because they no longer have influence or meaning over your actions today. Stop replaying the negative scenarios in your mind’s eye, for they will never come to fruition unless you make them happen.

How you “think” will create how you feel, what you face and how you deal with it in the reality of the here and now. So “think” about what you have already changed for the better. Take note of the blessings that have already gotten the ball rolling for you and in the direction you want to go. Focus on the choices you’ve made to turn things around and upside down to shake out the negative influences and controls. You’ve done a great deal already and you should use those positive changes and the energy you’ve expended upon them to lift you up and move on.

Stay focused on your plans to move things forward and the projects you’re already working on. Some of them maybe tedious, but your efforts will pay off in the end! They’ve already started paying off now. So stop the negative talk and start the positive walk!

Stay warm and covered up. The blah feeling of a cold will subside soon enough. Don’t over do it today. Focus on the little things that need to get done. You’ll knock them out one after the other and have a much more productive day than you thought you might have. But don’t over do it. You’re already burning the candle at both ends. Exerting more energy than you have to could cause a mild discomfort to become a full blown cold or bigger issue. Take it easy today!

Additional Insight:

You don’t need to make more work for yourself, you already have enough on your plate. But you’re letting all the little things pile up and causing you to feel overwhelmed. There’s no need for that.

Today is a perfect day to prioritize your To Do list by size and then by due date. Start with tackling all the little things that will clear your desk and help to relieve some of the stress on your shoulders.

The more you knock off the little things the more time you’ll find for the big imperative projects. Like yesterday, sometimes you have to slow down in order to go fast and get things done.
