Happy Thanksgiving – 2018

It’s Thanksgiving Again

We would like to extend our thanks to all of you for visiting our blog throughout this past year.
And we send out A Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours for a wonderful and happy Celebration!

“In the 19th century, the modern Thanksgiving holiday started to take shape. In 1846, Sarah Josepha Hale, editor of a magazine called Godley’s Lady’s Book, campaigned for an annual national thanksgiving holiday after a passage about the harvest gathering of 1621 was discovered and incorrectly labeled as the first Thanksgiving.

It wasn’t until 1863, when President Abraham Lincoln declared two national Thanksgivings; one in August to commemorate the Battle of Gettysburg and the other in November to give thanks for “general blessings.” ~ National Geographic: The First Thanksgiving.

Many Blessings during this holiday season!

Time To Write Your Abundance Check 2018

wolfmoneyNew Moon Energy Reminder

The New Moon for November occurs on
Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:02am EST.

My friend Rev. Lyn Williams sends out a reminder every month on FB to Write Your Abundance Check.

I think many of us could use this, so I’d like to share it with you. It’s a great way of putting your hopes, faith, dreams or desire for abundance into physical action.

I love Rev. Lyn’s ritual, but I did change it a little to implement some Pagan specific perspectives. If you need some abundance in your life, give it a try. You’ll find the full step-by-step ritual here: Sunday Homily: Writing Your Abundance Check.

You can visit Rev. Lyn’s website and learn more about her at The Woman Exec. And follow her on Facebook where she shares some wonderful insight and suggestions to make positive changes in your life.

Enjoy the ritual!

Merry Samhain and Happy Halloween – 2018

Celebrating The Holidays

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing,
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon’s blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
~ William Shakespeare’s Macbeth

Hoping you have a fantastic evening of Trick-or-Treating,
with lots of fun, frights and genuine laughter!

and
May you and yours have a wonderfully blessed and exciting Samhain!

Many Blessings,
Spring

U.S. Counties Want To Move Halloween

Image from: Megan Granata Upsetting Witches

It happens every year. Some County official somewhere in the U.S., wants to move the observance of Halloween for little Trick-or-Treaters and I suddenly get hundreds of emails from practicing Witches about how this angers them to no end. Litterally, beginning around October 1st, I start receiving emails. By the end of the month I’ve received over 200 when all is said and done.

This year, I’m up to 167 so far. with less than a week to go. Hopefully that means word is getting out. But the general sentiment is often the same,  “What right do these people have to move OUR holiday!” Here’s my question in response, Why are you upset, Halloween IS NOT our holiday?

Whether you use the Gaelic pronunciation “Sow-en”, “Sow-ween”, “Sah-ween” or the Americanized version “Sam-hain” (yes that is an acceptable pronunciation), Samhain is still the biggest holiday on the Pagan Calendar.

Samhain is a Gaelic word, and it translates to “Summer’s End”. It marks the end of the growing season and the transition into Winter. It also marks the Celtic New Year and it is observed with both reverence and of course a big party celebration. Continue reading

Defining What You Believe

What Do I Believe?
A Student’s 1st Assignment

Before you can begin your spiritual journey; what ever that journey is, you have to know where you’re starting from. What do you believe and how does it relate to your spiritual path? Are you looking for a spiritual path, but don’t know which one fits your current beliefs? How are you going to assess where you are today with where you want to be, or where you’ve come from, if you don’t know what you believe today.

It’s easy to sit down and answer questions off the top of your head when talking with someone about what you believe. You jump from topic to topic and you may not even realize how the subjects are interconnected. You can give one description today and two weeks from now, you’ll have a slightly different description. And you won’t even realize you’ve altered your view or perception.

If you take on this assignment, you’ll see how much that ‘easy to answer’ scenario changes. When you’re writing those answers down, putting thought to paper you are forcing yourself to really think about what you believe. You’ll begin writing an answer to a question you were sure you knew, only to discover that you may not be so sure about it after all. It also forces you to connect the dots. You’ll find that as you’re writing an answer to one question, that might contradict your response to another previous question. And suddenly you have to re-think an entire subject. Continue reading

2018 September Equinox

Celebrating Mabon and Ostara

The fall equinox occurs when the sun shines directly on the equator and the length of day and night is nearly equal. These equinox events vary in date and time by a few hours to a day. Generally the Fall Equinox occurs on or around September 21st or 22nd.

This year the Fall Equinox will occur at 9:54 PM (Eastern U.S.) on Saturday , September 22. Celebration for Pagans should begin at Sunset on Saturday. Whither you’re in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, the timing would be the same. But the Holiday you celebrate depends on which side of the hemisphere you’re in.

The North is turning away from the Sun, so we’re heading into fall. But if we’re moving away from the Sun, the southern hemisphere is moving toward the Sun. So folks on that side of the planet are starting their Spring season.

Mabon; The Feast of Avalon In The Northern Hemisphere
The time of Giving thanks, take time for Reflection.
Here in the north we’re celebrating Mabon, the Feast of Avalon.  This pagan holiday is assumed to have originated in the Celtic lands. But some argue it is highly influenced by Norse traditions. Continue reading

Not The Enemy Of The People

Defend The Free Press

Supporting The Free Press
August 16, 2018

Today, August 16th, 2018 is the national day to support America’s Free Press. The idea began with the Boston Globe proposing that all Newspapers Rally To Protect The Free Press. The coordinated effort for an editorial response from publications across the U.S. to President Donald Trump’s frequent attacks on the news media.

Beginning as early as one month after being sworn into office, Trump labeled the News Media “The Enemy of the People”. According to the Washington Post, he has “used the word “fake” — as in “fake news,” “fake stories,” “fake media” or “fake polls” — more than 400 times” in the past 19 months.

He constantly tells his followers at rallies, that you can’t believe the “Fake News”, and “what they say is going on, isn’t what’s really happening”. All this to undermine the credibility of ethical and factual reporting that is critical of his actions, both past and present. Continue reading
