Merry Friday the 13th One and All

Wise Old WolfFear of Friday The 13th

Once again the thirteen day of the month falls on a Friday and people are wary of the events of the day. I’m astounded by the number of emails we have received this week concerning fear and worry about today.

Fear for Friday the 13th it has more to do with the spread of Christian culture and power than anything else. Even today there are people who want to give “credit” to the early church for creating this evil view in society. While that blame maybe warranted, it’s yet another case of how western Christian cultures believe everything is about them. However there is seriously little written about this superstition prior to the 19th Century (the 1800s) when superstition became common place.

According to Wikipedia:
Superstition is a belief in a false conception of supernatural causality: that one event leads to the cause of another without any physical process linking the two events, such as astrology, omens, witchcraft, etc, that contradicts natural science.

The very nature of superstition vilifies all beliefs that are considered to be non-christian.While astrology was commonly used in western cultures and indo-European kingdoms, it began to fall out of favor during the Inquisitions and increasingly became linked to witchcraft. Omens were seen as messages from nature, such as animal sign, and fortune-telling through the use of bones, tea leaves and a myriad of other tools from nature.

While these things started to be vilified by the Church in its early days, it came full force in the 16th century (1500s) when the Inquisitions were in full swing and the Church was at the height of power. While the power of the courts drove beliefs in these concepts underground and out of the public eye, they still existed behind closed doors and whispered in all levels of society. It took another 100 to 200 years for these practices to finally become denounced in all areas of western culture and dismissed by the average person in public and in private.

Thankfully the Church was not able to eradicate belief in these things, or the practice and knowledge of these things and events from history.

So here’s a different perspective. If you don’t follow the Christian religion, then why would you follow their fears and vilification of what typically for pagans is a great day of celebration and joy? Take some time to read up on the number 13 and Friday prior to the influences of Christianity.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Nine of Cups –

Nine of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Don’t forget to say thanks. Someone has gone out of their way to help you. While you may feel frustrated with the whole situation, they have made an effort to help you out! Make sure you say thank you! If they’re someone you’re close to, give them a hug. They deserve it and you need it! You’ll feel better for it and it will make your weekend a lot more calm and relaxing now that things have been taken care of. Even if you have a final solution to work out.

Additional Information:

You know how it feels not to be appreciated. Someone went out of their way for you and while they may not say it, they would like some appreciation from you. Remember what you put out, you get back. So put forth some gratitude and caring and you’ll receive that back when you need it most.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Ace of Cups –

Ace of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Crying over spilt milk when your cup is over flowing really makes no sense. What more do you want? What more are you asking for? You already have what you’re looking for. Wake up and take off the blinders. It may not be your perfect vision, but what you’re wishing for isn’t perfect either. Nor is it the best thing for you. Put your focus back on what’s before you and stop daydreaming about things you don’t need and in the end will not want.

Additional Insight:

The fantasies may be a nice distraction but they are affecting the energy you’re expressing to others and to the world around you. Remember what you think, you create. Often times, that means destroying something in order to create something new. But if you allow your fantasies to become real, you could be destroying the very thing you’re trying to acquire and achieve.

No situation or person is perfect. Things do not work out exactly as we want them to and people don’t react exactly like you imagine they will. Don’t destroy what you have in order to achieve some perfect vision that doesn’t and won’t exist even if you do manage to acquire it.

Stop the day dreaming and turn your energies on what you can control and manage. Open your communication levels and express your views and feelings with compassion and trust. Explain your lack of feeling secure, loved or attention. Others can’t read your mind, so why are you expecting them too and then holding them to a standard that even you can’t meet. Knock it off and appreciate what you have, before it’s gone.

Sometimes all you need is a hug. Let someone know it’s going to be ok and give them a hug, or a simple touch on the shoulder. Things aren’t as bad as you think they are. There are many blessings around you and all your cups will be filled shortly. Hang in a little longer.

Additional Insight:

It’s amazing how far the power of touch can uplift another person. Whither you’re the one needing the hug, or the one who can give it, share your strength with compassion and caring. A simple hug can let someone know they’re not alone and they’re facing the trials on their path in solitude. Even those with partners can feel segregated or pushed aside. A touch on the shoulder, a pat on the back or even a simple holding of the hand to show caring and concern can be an immeasurable gift to someone who needs it.

If you’re the one needing the hug; don’t let the stress of being responsible weigh you down. Those that attempt to rise up and be accountable for their actions will discover rewards in the end. It’s easy to feel the burdens in hard times. But you have overcome more than you realize. You have survived through the thick and thin. You will over come the current stresses and you will succeed. Believe in yourself and let the worry fall by the wayside.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing – Seven of Pentacles – Inverted

7 of Pentacles: Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

It may seem like the little vermin are scurrying around you constantly. You can allow them to annoy you, or you can learn from watching them what not to do with your own possessions and prosperity. You can allow them to turn things upside down, letting your finances fall out of your pockets. Or you can rise above the pettiness and keep your thoughts in Divine light to grow and keep your abundance.

Additional Insight:

If you focus on the people who insist on pushing your buttons and create stress and strife, you will make some costly mistakes. Don’t allow them to control your emotions or you duties. Focus on your tasks and pay attention to the details. Giving into their attempts to control you only gives them more power than they deserve.

Ignoring their jibes and jabs will turn the tables and allow you to push their buttons for once. It will also allow you to retake control of your emotions and your actions. Doing so today will keep you from paying out for things you otherwise wouldn’t have to deal with. And can’t afford in the first place.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing – Seven of Swords – Inverted

7 of Swords - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

What you’re searching for is already in your hands. Stop allowing the stress and strife to blind your view and keep you from seeing it. Anger and frustration only create blinders that cause you to focus your attention on the wrong things. Let it go, and see what you already have at your finger tips.

Additional Insight:

Be careful you don’t look at the world around you with glasses of frustration. Just like rose colored glasses, overwhelming frustrations can cause you to warp your view of all things around you. You’re wasting so much looking for the answers in something; or someone; else when the answer is already right in front of you.

Let go and let the Divine guide your path and your view back on course where you implement your desires and enjoy what you already have.

Sunday’s Homliy – Don’t Let Worry Make You Weary

Find Your Strength Within

The Challenges Of Faith and Adversity

Worry: to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts; fret.
Weariness – to make or become discontented or impatient, especially by the long continuance of something, draining

This homily was inspired by a sermon given by Joel Olsteen. I might be pagan, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the words of other ministers from other faiths. Open you mind and release the dislike, hate or negative perceptions of others in the world. You never know, you might find something that inspires you.

Everyone faces challenges in their life. Some challenges are greater than others, some face greater suffering by the standards of society, some are victims of circumstance and some have made choices of their own that create the struggle. Whatever your story is, there are three things to remember when facing the challenges of adversity in your life:

  1. Someone in the world does have it worse than you.
  2. You create, what you think.
  3. You are never alone.

If you can remember these three things, you have the strength to endure and face the challenges in your life. You can overcome adversity, learn from your experiences and grow toward enlightenment. You can become one with your own inner spirit and merge your thinking with the Divine Consciousness in your life and create what you desire. You can implement your beliefs into your daily life and begin Walking Your Talk© through: Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Magician

The Magician

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Use all your tools of the trade to their fullest and you’ll be able to pull the right card out of thin air. Allow your talents to shine, and your confidence to shed light on the deception others are trying to put forth as fact. You’ll rule the day and gain both pride and self-reliance at the same time.

Additional Information:

While others are pretending to have a solution, or claim the work of others as their own, you have the skill to pull the solution out of thin air. Don’t let the deception of others shake your confidence. Use all the tools at your disposal and you’ll clearly see what to do and more importantly, how to do it with skill. Believe in yourself. You know this stuff! You can do it!

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing – Two of Cups

Two of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Accept the gifts of spirit even if you don’t yet understand their purpose. The events in your life come to bring lessons of enlightenment, be they karmic or spiritual in nature. We may not always see what they bring to teach us, but when we accept their energy and make choices that break old negative patterns, we achieve a step forward toward our own spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Additional Insight:

We set the path that we walk in life. Either as a spiritual blue print, or through the choices we make in life. Our way forward or backward comes by our own hand. If you repeat your steps; consider looking at the situations you find yourself in from a higher spiritual perspective. What pattern are you repeating?

Take the situation into meditation and contemplate on the choices you’ve made in the past. Are they choices made out of anger or hurt? Are they decisions based on what someone else did to you in the past and you’re applying that same scenario to new situations with new players?

It’s time to set the old baggage down and leave it behind. You no longer need it and it’s only holding you back from moving forward freely. Forgive yourself for carrying it for so long. Allow your inner spirit to engulf you in compassionate loving light, soothing your spirit in green healing light. Then let it go and move on. Make an effort not to assume others will treat you the same way the foes of the past did. It’s not fair to the new actors in your life’s play and it’s not fair to you either.
