Optimism And Healing

Overcoming Life’s Hurdles

Overcoming Life's HurdlesHow we look at the world around us is based on perspectives that we form through our experiences and how those experiences impact our life. But it is also formed by the type of people we surround ourselves with. From childhood we mimic the views and attitudes of our parents. In adulthood we learn to think for ourselves, value our own opinions and have more control over our views, emotions and responses. The choice is up to us.

Being optimistic doesn’t mean you live in a fantasy world where everything is wine and red roses. It means being able to look beyond the doom and gloom to find the positive element in all things and focus energy on that. All situations have some element of good, but we rarely see what that is until we’re well beyond the event. If we allow ourselves to heal and get beyond it, that is.

Like many around the world my family was hit by the economic downfall. After working hard for 20+ years in the Information Technology field, I found myself laid off and out of work as the company I worked for closed it’s doors and went into bankruptcy. Suddenly I was fighting and competing with 20somethings out of college along with all the other people who were out of work because their companies were cutting back or closing their doors. In between the trials I tried to focus on the good things this situation brought into my day. I was able to spend more time with my son. I was able to be available for him at school functions and volunteer at his school. That’s not a big deal to some, but to a kid, it has a big positive impact. Instead of wallowing in self-pity, I also took the time to work on my passion. Writing Pagan Metaphysics, going back to school and getting my Divinity degrees were part of passion. Even though things were tough, the situation did provide time for some wonderful things to happen.

Even these little things can help you see beyond the struggles you’re facing today. You may not have made the same choices, but you have made good decisions in the past that are affecting you in a good way today. Take time to think about those choices and use their energy to help you tackle today’s issue.

A desire for healing is an optimistic action. Whether its physical, mental or emotional healing, wanting to get ‘better’ is a desire for positive feeling and change. Healing isn’t something we do for others and it’s not forgetting about the trials we’ve been through. It’s about looking at the lessons we learned, working through the application of implementing those lessons in a positive manner and moving beyond their hold over our emotions and our future. Healing is something we do for ourselves to move forward.

If we can look at the trials and challenges in our life in this way, we can begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel and ease the burdens we put on ourselves through stress, fear and anxiety. But for some this takes an effort. As with most things in life, if we can tackle issues one at a time and slowly, we generally have much greater success in overcoming them. Bring positive optimism into your day isn’t any different.

If you start your day with negative insight and dwelling on trials, then you set up a pattern to react to all situations in a negative way. Everything then becomes a snowball effect where even the good things seem like they’re dragging you downhill. Negative thoughts create negative energies, which establish negative situations, which create negative thoughts again. Then things can go from bad to worse, because you’re attracting more negativity to you like a magnet. After a while you’re making a self-fulfilling prophecy of disaster.

To move beyond this, we can look within the self and connect our energy with our own higher Divine Self. What you ARE and always will be is a beautiful creation of the Divine Universal Spirit incarnate. We’re not talking about going around feeling as if you’re God like. We’re not talking about being above anyone else or holding a level of egotism that makes you superior. The Divine perspective is merely an awareness of your equal value to all other things in and around the Divine Universe. And from this perspective you have a greater ability to see with optimism and create a pattern that attracts positive energy into your day.

Tackle one event that arises each day and focus on turning that situation around into a positive by the end of the day. The next day, do the same thing. After a week of this, start focusing on two events or issues each day. Look beyond the hurt, fear and anger to discover the lesson that is being presented. Take time to close your eyes and ask the Divine force in your life, “What am I to learn from this? What is the positive aspect of this situation?” And then listen for the answer. When you can do this every day to tackle the challenge of the day, your successes will empower your perspective and you’ll realize you can make positive change in your life. At that moment, even the things that have seemed large and overwhelming become smaller and easier to beat.

Nothing else has greater energy than the Divine Universal Spirit and you working together. I cannot stress how important this view is. Nothing can stop you, limit you or hold you back, as long as you are working in concert with your Divine Self and the Divine Universal Spirit. With this thought firmly placed within your mind, you can face anything, accomplish anything, obtain anything, and surpass all limitations people and society place on you. It may not happen over night. And yes you will have to work at it. There will be times when you will need to remind yourself that optimistic healing is what you desire and what’s needed in this time and situation. But the more you do this, the easier it gets and after a while, you develop this approach into an instinct instead of an effort.

One way to begin this process and put your new attitude into action is by giving thought and energy to those positives in your life. Sit down with 2 pieces of paper. Write down on one the issues or struggles you’re facing. On the other write down one positive aspect that has resulted from that issue. Make sure you do one for one. Don’t write down all the negatives and then try to tackle the positives. Face one at a time on both sides. And don’t give up! You can do this. As with anything worthwhile, it takes a little effort.

Once you have made your lists, take the negative one and fold it up. Address it to the Divine force in your life and write a blessing upon it. Something that gives the sentiment “I release the negative, I let go and let the GreatSpirits”. Next take that list and burn it (safely of course!). Meditate on seeing all the negative energy within you, being pulled out by your negative list, and floating out into the Divine Universe upon its smoke. After a moment of this turn your attention to the positives list. Fold it and address it to My Divine Mind and the Divine force in your life. Write a blessing upon this one as well, something with the sentiment that says “In partnership with the Divine Universe I bring in the positive creation of success and abundance to my life”. Hold that list in your hands and see the Divine energy of the Universe coming into your being filling the void left by the negative anxiety you released. Envision the positive Divine energy growing so strong and large that assists in pushing out the negative dark energy of fear, anxiety, sorrow and stress from your body, your room, your home and your entire cosmic world.

When you’re done, take your list and place it in an area where you will see it every day. Read your list in the morning when you get up to face the day and at night when you go to bed. Hold them in your mind through your day and consciously focus on implementing their energy into all aspects of your day. Remind yourself you’re breaking the pattern of the negative and bringing in the Optimistic Healing of the positive to manifest throughout your life.
