Forms of Spirit Communication

Communicating With Spirit Through Divination & Psychic Tools

Divination AltarThe following section is a contribution from one of the regular members to my original message board, Panther Witch. She has graciously allowed me to post part of her research on the History of Divination from the board.  I have made a few additions & edits.

Divination:
(From Merriam Webster’s Online Dictionary)
From the Middle English “Divinacioun”,
From Latin “Divination-, divinatio, from divinare”.
Approximate first usage: 14th century

1. The art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers.
2. Unusual insight; intuitive perception.
3. The practice of sensing energy patterns around a person, animal, place or thing and interpreting messages from that energy.

The word divination comes from the Latin word “divinare” or to be inspired by the Divine. Traditionally, it never has mattered which God or Deity has inspired the events foreseen, but almost all religions have had their versions of diviners. It is actually more common than most people realize. Continue reading

What are they. How do we make relationship agreements in spirit. Are they karmic in nature? Or is it something bigger?

Paganism vs Satanism – Learning About Tolerance

Tolerance And Unconditional Love

Wise Old WolfI have always contended that the more we learn about each other, the more we build tolerance and peace within the world. I was invited to a round table discussion on The Ænigma Project to discuss Satanism. When I shared that appearance with friends and colleagues they were turned off. A few immediately said “Why are you talking about such a dark subject?” or “I avoid that scary stuff”. This from people who claim that their purpose in life is to practice and teach “unconditional love”. Well I don’t believe in unconditional love, but interestingly enough I seem to be the one practicing it, along with the other members of the show’s panel and those who did tuned in.

I can appreciate the “ickiness” perspective from the general public. But from colleagues, I must say I was highly disappointed. Being open minded and practicing what you preach is a necessity to any spiritual leader, teacher or minister/priest/priestess. If you can’t walk your talk, who are you serving? Continue reading

Guest Appearance On The Ænigma Project – 04/30 Paranormal Investigations

The Ænigma Project – Monday 9 PM EST

Religion and the Paranormal Investigation

In an exercise of right time, right place I was fortunate to be a surprise fill-in guest on The Ænigma Project this past Monday.

It was a lively discussion about Paranormal Investigations, hauntings, ghosts and spirits. The Pros/Cons and what if’s of bringing Religion into someone’s home for an investigation, clearing and/or cleansing. It was a great dynamic discussion that covered a variety of facets about religion, spirituality, psychic senses and more. Don’t miss out on the archive of the show on The Ænigma Project’s blog.

The Seven Point Guide to Self Fulfillment

Wisdom From The Dalai Lama

14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso

His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso

Last night (4/25/2012) on Piers Morgan Tonight, Piers interviewed the Dalai Lama. Just because I’m pagan doesn’t mean I can’t learn from and appreciate teachings and wisdom from those of other faiths. And everyone can learn much from the Dalai Lama. It was an excellent and fascinating interview, perhaps the best interview of the Dalai Lama I’ve ever seen.

His honesty is so refreshing in this time of “spin” and out right lies from political leaders, celebrities, and yes even from the spiritual community itself. His optimism is inspiring and by itself can give one hope for a better world. What struck me the most was that he isn’t so optimistic as to be delusional about what can be attainable. He’s much more of a realist than I had ever thought someone in his position could be. And that impressed the heck out of me!

At the end of the show, Piers tells his viewers that here in America we spend $11 billion on the self help and self improvement industry. We spend so much time looking outside ourselves to find happiness, that we forget to look within our own selves, in our actions and our practices. But the Dalai Lama has a cheaper way of finding happiness.

Here are the Dalai Lama’s words of wisdom in his 7 Point Guide to Self Fulfillment:  Continue reading

What Is A Spiritual Expert – Part V

Spiritual Teaching

Teachable Moments

Teachable Moments

No matter what path you walk in life, being a teacher of spirit requires a special talent and passion. It’s not enough to know the material, though that is a very big part of it, but one must also know how to deliver their message with encouragement, empowerment and to promote tolerance. How you choose your words is equally important to how you deliver them to your audience.

The biggest thing to keep in the front of your mind is that you don’t know it all. No matter what your experience level, knowledge, degrees beside your name; you are not the all knowing consciousness of the universe. And that’s ok. Every teacher has more to learn and room to grow. The old saying that a teacher has as much to learn from their students as the student does from the teacher is somewhat accurate. You may have more information about a topic or subject, but there are other “lessons” you can learn from those you teach. Whether your subject is spiritual belief, healing, divination or any other practice; you have not come across every situation a person might face. Some one will surprise you with their experience and you’ll be presented with a moment of learning how to help that individual in a new way or with a different approach than you have used in the past. Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Six of Cups

Six of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

To fill your cup, you must first make sure it’s open and facing in the right direction. Even if you’re going with the flow around you to maintain peace, you can’t take in the blessings that cross your path when you’re closed and ready for the opportunities that come. Sometimes it takes both optimism and effort to open your heart and mind to the world around you. You never know, you might actually find something new that brings excitement and passion back into your life.

Additional Insight:

The mind is like a parachute, it must be open to work. So too is the desire to live a life that’s upbeat and filled with joy and love. If you have built walls because of past events, you’re not only keeping yourself locked in, but you’re keeping the good things in the world out. Sometimes it’s good to remember that while your struggles may have been very hard, somewhere in the world someone else has it much worse than you do. If they can get through the day, so can you. So cast off the fear and trepidation, tear down the walls and open your heart and mind to the possibilities around you. You’ll be glad you did.
