Sunday Homily: What Is Spiritual Love?

Wolf Respect & Love

Respect & Tolerance

The Love Of Tolerance

All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion and forgiveness. The important thing is they should be part of our daily lives. ~ Dalai Lama

Spiritual love is the exercise of love, compassion and respect for all things, seen and unseen throughout the Divine Universe.

It is taught in all religious and spiritual paths. It is shared as the utmost character to achieve. We know this, we hear it, we talk about it and perhaps even preach it. But do we practice it?

In times of disaster people don’t ask what religion do you practice, what sexual preference do you favor before they hold out a helping hand. We see the plight of others who have been devastated by storms or earthquakes and we rush to their aid out of compassion and care.

A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. … We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if mankind is to survive. ~ Albert Einstein Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Lovers

The Lovers

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Don’t simply go through the motions and pretend. Saying the words means nothing, if you don’t honestly mean them. Look in the mirror and tell yourself “I love you”, then follow it up by hugging yourself. Mean what you say and allow yourself to let go of the negative talk and dislike. You are worth loving! So love yourself first.

Additional Insight:

How do you expect others to be in-love with you, when you don’t even love yourself? How you feel and see yourself from the inside gets reflected to the outside world. If you feel drab and ugly, others will think of you that way because this is the view you project. Everyone has something about themselves they don’t like. But that “appearance” is not who you are. You can change the appearance by changing the inside first.

Replace the negative talk with positive affirmations about yourself. You are beautiful, inside and out. Smile and be happy with who you are and that will be reflected to others. If you have a habit or characteristic about yourself that you don’t like, start changing it. Create a self-affirmation that replaces the negative with a positive.

For instance, if you complain about other people and how they’re always negative; are you not doing the same thing by making that statement? Tell yourself “I see the best in everyone and everything through the eyes of love and compassion”. Each time you start to say something negative, recite that affirmation. Over time, you will change your behavior and your view not only of others, but of yourself as well.

If you’re always frustrated or angry, tell yourself “I am at peace. I allow life to flow through me with compassion and love.”

If you always feel stressed out over the little things that happen in your day, tell yourself “I find calm within. I carry life with ease through the strength of love.”

Create your own affirmation and change the negative patterns in your life. The more you replace the negative, the more you’ll see your own beauty and allow others to see it too.

Proof Of An After Life

© 2012 Springwolf Wolf GhostNeurosurgeon claims to have seen Heaven

Your perspectives are based on your experiences. What you define in your life, or give a label to is based on those understandings and views. You and I could have the same near death spiritual experience and based on our perspectives give aspects of that experience different names because of what we believe to be true in our own lives.

You may call your experience a visit to heaven, I might call it the Celtic Otherworld, someone else may call it Summerland or Valhalla. No label is wrong, because the label is given by the person who had the experience. It was their event, they have a right to call it what they will.

This discussion has come up here in my community because of story reported in our local news. One of our NBC News anchors, Curt Autry, reported on a story about a neurosurgeon who had a near death experience and believes he has proof of heaven.

A few people are upset that the “news” is reporting this story. Some are denouncing the Dr.s claims and insist there is a medical reason for his “vision”. Others, like me, support his vision as it’s not the first time we’ve heard this type of story or near death experience.

So the discussion has begun. Here is a link to the story and video posted by Mr. Autry – Neurosurgeon’s Experience Of Heaven.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Priest – Inverted

The Priest - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Lessons of spirit are in play. The crystal mountain that lays before you is not the final destination in your journey. It’s only the next goal. Allow yourself time to sit within the mountains shadow and direct its healing through your heart and mind. Become a reflection of its compassion and care. Walk Your Talk© and see the world with better eyes.

Additional Insight:

When we see the world through eyes of hate, anger and frustration, we spread that negativity through those around us and out into the community. It’s not enough to say you believe in “God” or go to your place of worship each week and mouth the words to a recorded message. Lessons of spirit run deep and they cannot be avoided. Don’t walk your path saying one thing on your day of worship and doing another when you get back home. The hypocrisy doesn’t go unnoticed. Not by those around you and not by the Divine spirits you honor.

But when you do Walk Your Talk©, you can look at the world through brighter eyes. You can see the good in people, the compassion they often have for one another in times of disaster and the caring for their community when concern is needed most. No matter what their skin color, sexual preference, religious or political beliefs; human beings come together and help their neighbor in need.

Why can’t we walk in that shadow of spirit in our everyday life too? Be an example of the loving Divine spirit and open your arms to healing. Not only healing within your own heart, but within your community, state and country as well.

Many Blessings to everyone, in love and compassion. – Spring

The Votes Are In – It’s Time For Compassion and Unity

Patriotic Wolf - Artist Unknown

Patriotic Wolf – Artist Unknown

Thank You For Your Patriotism America

Thank you to everyone who got out yesterday and voted. Who ever you voted for, your action was an expression of freedom that has been paid for by many who have come before us and many who have given life and limb so you could do so.

Now that the votes are in, it’s time to bury the anger and political rhetoric. We cannot be a United people, when some groups are being restricted, controlled, hated or ignored out of fear and ignorance. Doing so breeds contempt, distrust and hate. Acceptance creates peace, respect and inclusion. A United States born out of a desire to be free for all, not for a controlling few.

We light a candle today and ask the Divine Universe to guide the knowledge and compassion of our leaders, that they may guide their steps with wisdom and inclusion.  We hope our leaders walk a path of compromise for the good of all people, without fear, anger, or hatred. But rather in love and compassion for all. We hope that even though we may have our differences, we can all find common ground to share a smile, common respect and the return of civility once again.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Ten of Wands – Inverted

10 of Wands - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Creative magik is afloat today. You have reached the pentacle of hardship and it’s time to remove the bindings that have held you down. But be cautious. There are still enemies out there who would want to secure those bindings with chains the next time around. They are afraid of where you’re going, and their fear leads them into darkness. Show compassion and light the way. If they refuse to follow, you may have to leave them behind for the good of your own self-interests.

Additional Insight:

How you move forward from this moment on will dictate the progress you make. Take one step in anger, hate, or frustration and you could stumble down the hill and be caught in turmoil again.

Use your freedom wisely and try to help others break the binds that hold them back. There’s no need to argue, no need to get frustrated or yell. Simply hold out your hand reassure those who feel an unrealistic fear about the future.

Take your time and don’t rush through anything over the next three to six months. Consider the consequences of your actions before you take them. Make sure you’re willing to live with the choices you make, not only in how they impact you, but how the effect those around you.

Walk with love and acceptance, compassion and gratitude and you’ll find sure footing on your path forward.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Hermit – Inverted

The Hermit : Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

With the whirlwind of activity going on around you, there’s no way you can stay in the shadows and hide. Your attitude is being noticed, good and bad. Make sure today, it’s much more good than bad. Smile, be friendly and help others resolve their little problems and get things done. Your work will benefit you more than you can realize today.

Additional Insight:

It may not be in your nature to hide. But you have been doing a lot of that lately. The more the Divine Universe takes notice, the more you’ll be put in positions where you must be in the limelight. Why are you fighting so hard to stay hidden? It doesn’t support the dreams you have and the goals you’ve set. So your actions are in conflict with your thinking. And that is creating greater stress, anxiety and frustration that is strongly affecting your health.

Stand up tall and proud. Smile and step into the spot light. Show what you can do and why you deserve the attention and leadership role you’re dreaming about. No one else can do it for you. And it’s not going to come to you wrapped in a nice neat box on a platter.

Leadership takes work, effort and the ability to trust your instincts. Express your confidence, while still remaining humble and respectful of others, their ideas and suggestions. And today you could shine brighter than you could imagine.

Optimism and Smiling Help You Live Longer

There’s an old adage “ignorance is bliss” that pops up from time to time when I’m teaching or giving a lecture. Especially when the subject is about taking personal accountability for your life. Inevitably someone will mention this old saying and wonder why becoming more spiritually aware in your life means giving up that bliss happy feeling that comes along with attaining enlightenment.

The simple answer is, you’re looking at this from the wrong perspective. Because becoming personally accountable for your actions, thoughts and choices shouldn’t be a burden. It should give you a sense of empowerment over the path your life takes and the direction it’s headed into.

You have the free will and choice to allow every action you take to be overwhelming or a gift of insight and understanding. But that choice is yours to make. Others cannot make you happy, nor can they be held accountable for the choices you make in your life. When you stop blaming others for the things that go wrong in your life; you will discover that you had the power in your hands to create the results you wanted from the beginning. And that spiritual knowledge can and will help you change the direction of your path toward a more positive and optimistic future. Continue reading
