When Alternative Information Goes Wrong – Losing Our Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom from the Past

I read something today that annoyed me a little and felt the need to point it out.

I was looking for information to answer a question I was asked about the concept of how our thoughts create how we feel. The questioner found the work of Louise Hay and wanted more information concerning this approach for healing. Additional authors and places to look to broaden the understanding.

While I had a few resources, I wanted to find some additional and more academic sources to share. If you don’t know, this concept of healing from a science perspective is called: Psychoneuroimmunology. Say what? Yeah, it’s a big word but it’s not new. Not by a long shot.

The academic concept Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) is:
…the study of the interaction between psychological processes and the nervous and immune systems of the human body. PNI takes an interdisciplinary approach, incorporating psychology, neuroscience, immunology, physiology, genetics, pharmacology, molecular biology, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, infectious diseases, endocrinology, and rheumatology. Region has a great deal of influence over early religious and/or spiritual celebrations. Especially in ancient times. While the Celts are generally seen as an individual group of people today, they were diverse and individual regional clans in their time.

They shared mythological stories, or perspectives, but they weren’t exactly the same. Different regions may hold a different set of deities on a higher level than others, or not include them at all.

Because of this, Bel has many names and many stories are attributed to him through out the old Celtic countries of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Even Gaul was included in that region of Celtic culture (Gaul (Latin: Gallia) was a region of Western Europe during the Iron Age and Roman era, encompassing present day France, Luxembourg and Belgium, most of Switzerland, Northern Italy, as well as the parts of the Netherlands and Germany on the west bank of the Rhine. ~ Wikipedia:Gaul). What happens when the only things you see in your life are “negative”. Fighting, struggle, animosity and every other bad emotion or perspective seem to be prevalent and always present. Do you ask yourself what am I doing wrong? Why am I being persecuted? Why Me?

How Do You See?
As with all situations in your life, there are two ways to see the messages present before you. Every event has a positive and negative flow. But that doesn’t necessarily mean all are good and bad at the same time.

Sometimes we forget the negative flow of energy isn’t a “bad” thing. In the pursuit of balance you must have positive and negative energies to make things work. A battery has a positive and negative side, without both you can’t power your electronics. Does that make the negative side a bad side of the battery? Should we be mean to it, or judge it harshly? No, of course not. And that’s true for the situations in our life too.

Change is hard. It takes effort, concentration and mostly; patience with yourself. Affirmations help and they can remind you what it is you’re working toward. When you start falling back on old patterns and you realize it; that’s the time to say your affirmation.

Don’t give up on yourself. You’re trying and whither you realize it or not, you are making change. You’re not the same person right now as you were a year ago, or six months ago, or even last week.

It’s 04.14.14 – Does It Mean Anything?

Today Is April 14th, 2014 (04.14.14)

If you’ve been to Reflections before, you may know that 4 is my most favorite number. It has always been present when important events have occurred in my life. So of course I was going to take a look at what the number means within a Numerological perspective.

So does the date have meaning? If you believe in numerology of course it means something. But which numerological method you follow, will impact the analysis of the number.

Many people think there is only one pattern of number analysis. In actuality there are several. Mathematics is the only language shared by all humans regardless of culture, religion, or gender.

Many of the ancient cultures: Babylon, China, Egypt, India,and Japan were using forms of numerology long before the Greeks and Romans. Over the centuries each culture has created its own method of analyzing numbers, or they’ve put their own spin on existing methods.

HeartBleed Update

eMail Is Back Up and Running

Yesterday I shared a technogeek notice about the internet wide security bug known as HeartBleed. “Catastrophic is the right word. On the scale of one to 10, this is an 11,” blogged Bruce Schneier an internationally renowned security technologist, called a “security guru” by The Economist. This was truly a serious issue.

This bug was part of the security protocol that is widely used by a large part of the internet community world-wide and it was a fairly serious issue. It affected you whither or not you realized it.

This afternoon I’m beginning to receive notifications from the several host providers I work with explaining there was an issue and they have patched the bug to close the security hole. Of course they said it with a lot more techno-gargen, but the point is, they fixed it on their servers. Continue reading →

You may have noticed your internet connection is slow today, or you’re having problems sending eMail this week. You’re not the only one. That’s because there’s a bug in a piece of software that is widely used by many companies across the board for internet connectivity. It’s called OpenSSL. And it’s important to understand how THIS AFFECTS YOU and why it’s so serious.

OpenSSL manages security behind the scenes for your secured connections. That’s social media, your own blog, even your email servers probably run on OpenSSL. It probably definitely affects your Bank Account, and potentially any secured transaction you use online. Financial, personal, medical and everything in between.

It will also impact the same transactions and connections you may use from your smart phone. So don’t think you can go from your PC to simply do what you need to do on your phone. You can’t get around this, unfortunately. Continue reading →
