Many years ago a friend sent me an article that explains who we pagans are, from the very beginning of time. Well, time as it relates to Christians anyway.

The article was originally published in a periodical from Church Of All Worlds called “Green Egg“, years ago. The magazine isn’t published any longer, but the Church still exists. I am very fond of this article and when I originally went looking for it, I could only find it in Google’s cached pages. But it doesn’t even exist there any longer.

The article was written by Oberon Zell from Church of all Worlds. It is way too good to let his story fade into the ether of the internet. In 1999 I attained permission to reprint the article as long as I made sure I gave the credit to Oberon. Well of course, and gladly so!

The story shares some important insight into the origins of Earth and formation of life. Using the Bible itself to explain and discuss the origins of Pagans from the Christian perspective. The Essence of Metaphysics

Recently I had the opportunity to speak with some other spiritual and metaphysical authors. The majority spoke of Metaphysics from a New Age, New Thought and Unitarian perspective. At some point I said “Well Metaphysics is pagan, and not based on Abrahamic doctrine” which to some degree all of these spiritual paths hold a connection to. ..uh oh.. did I start something!!

Thankfully most of the people, ok, there were about 14 people in this conversation and only 2 seemed offended by my comment. Others looked confused and question my claim. Others were curious and asked what I meant. So I began to explain.

While we associate the writings of Metaphysics with Aristotle, he didn’t create the concept nor was he the only one writing about it. You can read more about this in my book Pagan Metaphysics 101. But the early cultures around the globe were all pagan. Which seems to have come as a surprise to some people. They actually believed the society that gave us the Great Greek Philosophers were following early Christian teachings.

It was hard letting them down and putting a few facts into their assumptions, but it had to be done. Pythagoras established the Pythagoras Brotherhood (a philosophical society that discussed life, the universe, morals and much more.) in 530B.C. That would be 30years before the completed Hebrew Manuscripts. And Pythagoras is said to have created this Brotherhood late in his life, about the time he was 50 years old. So presumably the concepts within metaphysics were part of his life and understanding long before he established the brotherhood. “Metaphysics” was coined in late 300’s B.C. by Aristotle. It wasn’t until 200 B.C. when the completion of the Septuagint Greek Manuscripts were completed. These manuscripts contain The 39 Old Testament Books AND 14 Apocrypha Books of the earliest version of the Torah. This happened nearly 100 years after Aristotle penned his writings. Say what?! We really don’t have a place to list all the little gems of wisdom that Spring has shared throughout the years. And the increase in this search request got us thinking. Maybe we should have a place for the ones we like the most.

Numerological Updates

If you’ve read my blog you know that I often say “no one is perfect” and “we all make mistakes”. Well I made a doosey! And thanks to a visitor who pointed it out; I can correct it!

Geez! It is embarrassing when you make dumb mistakes. It’s worse when you have proof readers who miss it too; and it goes unnoticed or unreported for well, coming up on 2 years now! OMG!

That means wherever I’ve made a post about the Alphanumeric perspective of a number…it’s wrong! Wrong I tell you! Dayum! So now we’re going through the site for the last 2 years and correcting our stupidity! At least I can say “our”…and I don’t feel so alone! 😉

We’ll be adding a link to all the articles that have to be updated here on this post, in case anyone was relying on the information from that particular article. We want you to know it has been updated and corrected. It may take a day or two to find and fix everything, but we will be open, honest and transparent about it.

Admitting your mistakes isn’t always an easy thing. But it is the right thing to do. We could delete the comment from the person who found the error and go about changing things without anyone knowing. But if we did that someone out there might be holding onto erroneous information that directly affects their view or perspective of themselves or their world. And I can’t have that! It’s not the right thing to do and I value both my integrity, reputation and mostly those of you who read our sites and rely on our information too much to do that. The Numerological Message for July 14th, 2014

Mathematics is the only language shared by all humans regardless of culture, religion, or gender. Today stood out for me, because of a pattern I saw when I posted today’s Tarot Meditation Insight. In my strange brain, I saw a 7 and it clicked that two 7s, are 14 and there’s two 14s in today’s date. Well that seemed interesting to me for some reason. Maybe because 4 is my favorite number. So I decided to look into the number from a Shamanistic Numerology standpoint.

A quick review
Prime numbers are those numbers that are specific to you, your birthday, social security or other numbers that will stick with you throughout your lifetime.

Sub-Prime numbers are numbers associated with you that change over time. Your phone number, an employee number, drivers license number and other things like that. A date falls into the category of Sub-Prime, because it only comes around once and quickly changes to the next day in the scheme of your lifetime. Continue reading →

Resources For Learning

I’ve recently gotten into some conversations about learning and researching other belief systems. How can we build tolerance for each other, when we don’t even understand the perspectives others hold? We must start with reading, research and learning.

That doesn’t mean you’re going to be converted to another belief. If that does happen, then maybe you weren’t as anchored in your proclaimed belief in the first place. There’s nothing to be afraid of, unless you don’t think your views and beliefs can stand up to comparison or scrutiny. In which case, why would you want to follow a system of belief that isn’t valid within your own standards?

Learning about others can actually strengthen your own beliefs by expanding your views. When you remove the limitations from your mind, you can see a much larger view of the world around you. That might give you something to think about and lead you to research within your own beliefs to discover how this relates to that, or how does this explain that, and so on. Continue reading →

Happy Independence Day to all Americans everywhere!
Especially to our service men and women serving here and abroad!
To all those who support our military, in the past and in the present!
To all those who fight for our freedoms and our rights, in everyday life.
Thank you all for your service and all you do to keep our country great!

While you celebrate this weekend, remember all those who came before us and sacrificed so much. The men and women of our armed forces of course! But don’t forget those who put all they had on the line for you. The founding fathers, the families and the patriots who stand tall, who fight with their voice or their pen. It takes more than brute force to make freedom remain free. It takes a nation of people from sea to sea.

So make sure you exercise your freedoms each day. Not only on the 4th, but each time of the year when your voice can be heard. Many have died for your right to sing out. So show your respect, not in hollow words of thanks or waves of recognition. But where it counts most, in the town hall meetings, the city square and the voting booth. But do it with dignity, civility and respect. For those who came before you didn’t die to promote hate. They gave of themselves, their family and fate, so all could be free in the land of the brave!

A Little Vacation

Everyone needs a break now and then. And we’re taking our summer break now that all the kids are out of school around here. So we’ll be floating in the water, sitting by the shore around the fire pit, roasting marshmallows and telling stories.

Until then, we hope everyone has a wonderful June, Happy Independence Day for those of you here in the States and may you all find time to catch up on a little reading here on Springwolf’s Reflections.
