Do Something & Share Your View

email-lostComplaining on FB and Social Media Doesn’t Get It Done

Whatever your position is on Syria, make your voice count instead of merely talking about it on social media. You can share stories, post tweets, rant and rave on message boards. But those communications do nothing to express your view to your Congressional Representatives or the White House. Get involved and do something about how you feel so that it makes a difference.

You can make your view count by contacting your representatives in Congress. If you don’t know how to do that, you can email them through their contact forms.

To email the President you’ll need to fill out the White House Contact Form.

To find your Congressional representatives, go to their websites at:
Find your Senator at senate.gov,
Find Your Congress-member at house.gov

Both congressional sites allow you to find your representative through a search in the top right hand corner of the page of each site.

I’m against military action and I urge others to support diplomatic efforts be exhausted before any violent action take place. If you need an example of what to send, try this:

To The Honorable (enter their name here)

As a constituent, I am writing to let you know that I oppose any military action in Syria.

I realize in today’s world violence against citizens by its government must be addressed. But the moral response is not to meet violence with more violence. Creative diplomacy is the best way to respond to the alleged use of chemical weapons. I urge you to work for a ceasefire, to pressure Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states, and Turkey, to halt the flow of weapons, and to pressure Russia and Iran to do the same.

Sincerely,
You name

I hope you’ll take time to get involved and make your voice heard.

eMails Concerning Reiki Fakes

Springwolf's Hanko LogoAn Increased Concern

I’m trying to go through eMail this week that has been piling up over the past two months. Every now and then a trend will develop from eMail questions or requests for information that I feel needs to be brought out on a larger or more visible stage.

Over the past two months I have received a lot of emails concerning Reiki fakes and frauds. How to spot someone who’s fake or who’s operating in a fraudulent manner is a concern for any profession. But it’s one that’s easily purported in the spiritual arts.

I’ve written several articles that I hope have helped people spot frauds, charlatans and people claiming to have knowledge they haven’t truly obtained. You might want to check out the What Is A Spiritual Expert – Series.

The bottom line is, if you visit with someone claiming to be an expert at anything, you have the right to ask them questions about their training and knowledge. You have a right to ask to see their certifications. And that’s true no matter what professional field they are part of. Be it a medical doctor, lawyer, accountant or any form of spiritual service. Pagan’s Path Surpasses 500k Visitors

Party Opportunity

Sometime in the past few months here my original pagan website site “The Pagan’s Path” surpassed 500k Visitors & I didn’t notice. Well I would have Partied!!

PagansPath.com is a free spiritual education site. Offering online information and studies to those on a path of enlightened growth. Whether you’re Pagan, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim or traveling on any other spiritual path, learning about other beliefs and ways, will teach you how similar we all really are. And how our differences are nothing to fear.

This information is shared in the hope of opening one’s heart to the blessings of tolerance and acceptance to those who have chosen to walk on the Pagan Path.

PagansPath.com was born from what we called the “SpringIce Network” Established On October 2, 1996 as an original AOL website. Wow that was a long time ago. As AOL evolved so did our intent to share information. And so was my life.

ppath-500kI separated from my first husband, the “Ice” part of SpringIce and moved on. Since he had never participated in our original site, I evolved the name and The Pagan’s Path was born on Ostara 1999.

Tonight I noticed the counter on the site. It’s been a while since I thought about that part of the site. But this evening my son and I were looking at our blogs and comparing visitors.  Which had me thinking about Pagan’s Path. It was both exciting and sort of sad that I hadn’t paid attention to such a milestone number as 500,000 visitors.

I’m celebrating today though, in my own little way. Time really does fly when you’re having fun!

Be Cautious Of Social Media Connections

Be The Alpha LeaderGuilt By Association

A couple of years ago I read an article about being careful who you “Like” on social media sites if you’re a small business. It’s unfortunate that “guilt by association” is something we must be cautious of in a spiritual community, but sometimes it’s even more important in our world.

We make our way in our spiritual practice or business based on our reputation and through word of mouth. Here our reputation is everything! Few things can damage your reputation as quickly as a link to an unsavory person or their business.

Because of this article, I am very cautious about accepting invitations online. Unless I have time to do some research or already know and trust the person, I don’t accept the connection. Whether it’s on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or any other social media source. It’s not something I do out of arrogance or disdain. But it is done for purely selfish reason; to ensure my reputation is always within my control.

Today a friend who has a small spiritual candle business in the north-west contacted me asking for prayers because of this very issue. She makes the most amazing scented candles with an emphasis on aroma therapy. She uses her own energy to connect with the Divine in her life as she creates the wax and pours the candles. She includes an incantation as she pours the wax to infuse each candle with a specific energy. It’s truly a special gift and talent. (At this time I’m going to keep her name and her candle business out of this article as she wants this story to be shared, but wants to be anonymous).  Continue reading

Merry Lughnasadh or Imbolg!

Arctic Wolf Fire

“Arctic Wolf Fire”
By Tom-in-Silence

The Summer Fire Festival

Whether its Lughnasadh for Celtic paths or Lammas for Wiccan paths, the summer fire festival is always a fun event to honor the changing seasons!

As with most things on the pagan calendar, different traditions celebrate and recognize seasonal festivals at different times of the year. Here in the northern Hemisphere, Lughnasadh is recognized on August 1st or 2nd.  It’s the time to recognize and honor Gratitude, Abundance, and bring things to Fruition (Getting it done!)

In the Southern Hemisphere this is the time for Imbolg, the Festival of Lights, when honoring the goddess Brigid and Purification, Initiation, and Dedication to one’s path is recognized.

There are many ways to give thanks and honor during this 1st harvest festival. It celebrates the warmth of the sun, the rain and the faery folk who help tend to the gardens, flocks and fields. As a Celtic festival of the harvest, what better way to give thanks than to prepare a meal with the harvest of your own garden.

Which ever holiday you observe, may it be a wonderful and blessed celebration!

From all of us here to all of you;
Merry Lughnasadh & Imbolg!!

Springwolf On Amazon

readingAmazon’s Author Central

This week I gained access to my Author Central page on Amazon. The Author Page on Amazon.com provides a handy place for customers to learn about authors and the books they have written.

It gives authors a place to  share the most up-to-date information about themselves and their works with millions of readers. It does this by providing an easily accessible area to learn about an author through their biography, photos, blog, and more directly on Amazon.com.

For author’s it provides inside information, such as timely sales data for free, including sales trends over time and where in the US your books are selling.

You’ll find my Amazon Author page here:

It’s Raining Cats and Dogs

It's Raining Cats and Dogs

It’s Raining Cats and Dogs

Where Did It Come From?

Tonight I was doing a little reading and came across something I had to share. What caught my attention on this story was the cat sleeping on top of the computer monitor. The cat could be the twin to my cat Mooshu.

But once I started reading the story, this paragraph said..”you have to share this!”

Some authorities tie the idea to Norse mythology. Odin, the Viking god of storms, was often pictured with dogs and wolves, symbols of wind. Witches, who supposedly rode their brooms during storms, had black cats, which became signs of heavy rain. Therefore, “raining cats and dogs” referred to a storm with wind (dogs) and heavy rain (cats).

Anything that shares the mythology from pagan cultures and it’s symbolism is worth a share I think.

The article is from The Old Farmer’s Almanac, which I absolutely love! And it was posted on their Weather Blog under “Cats and Weather – The Folklore” by Evelyn Browning Garriss.

It’s really worth the read and tells you where this saying really came from.

Mistakes Are A Passing Event

Go Within

Close your eyes to go with in,
not to replay the mistakes in your mind.

Don’t Allow Mistakes To Govern Your Future

We’re all human and not a single one of us is perfect. Every person on this planet has made mistakes in the past and will make more in the future. So why do we allow those passing events to rule and dictate our lives?

Yes the actions we take have consequences. And yes some of those consequences can create life long impacts. But does that mean we need to hold ourselves up to a standard of perfection and pay for the mistake for the rest of our lives?

Whether we hold guilt, embarrassment, shame, fear or dread;  people are often way to hard on themselves when it comes to judging our own mistakes. It makes it hard to let go of the past events and gives them much more power over us than they deserve. We carry that baggage around with us and allow it to dictate our choices, or hold us back from new opportunities when they arise. However, this is the exact opposite of what we should do.

Mistakes are opportunities to learn and expand our understanding, both of ourselves and the world around us. Sometimes it takes a stupid mistake to teach us something or to recognize an issue we need to deal with. Doing so allows us to free the restraints of fear or even guilt, and walk our path with courage and a belief in ourselves.

Don’t close your eyes and try to ignore your mistakes, or try to pretend they never happened only to replay their words or actions over and over in your head. This only digs the anchor deeper into the soul and opens the doorway to sorrow and darkness. Continue reading

We Join The Celebration Of Equality

Love Is Love

Love Triumphs All

Today the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, known as DOMA, stating it discriminated against same-sex couples.

Then they declined to rule on California’s Proposition 8 which prohibits same-sex marriage, leaving in place a lower court’s decision that struck-down the ban.

From a pagan perspective:
It is important to note that Pagan Metaphysics strives for peace and harmony within the Divine Universe and within the individual being. Through mutual respect and acceptance we can discover and acquire peace for all and create a world that is harmonious for everyone. But this approach does not take away the choices of individuals to direct their own lives with free will and the acceptance of the consequences of those choices. ~ an excerpt from Pagans and Politics.

Happy Summer Celebrations

Happy Solstice Celebrations

The Summer Solstice Beacons

Today is a day to take notice of Father Sun and honor his warmth and light as summer officially begins in the Northern Hemisphere. The Solstice is a time that many look forward to and it’s celebrated around the world both as a spiritual holiday and a scientific event. For Pagan’s it is a day to dance around the bonfires and celebrate the Mid-Summer Solstice Day.

Everyone here at Spring’s Haven and Springwolf Reflections would like to wish you all a wonderful, happy and safe Mid-Summer celebration!

In legend and lore the Solstice begins the great battle between the Oak King of Spring and Summer and the Holly King of Fall and Winter. In the Northern Hemisphere the battle favors the Oak King who fights to keep the Sun’s warmth upon the Earth over the next few months. In the Southern Hemisphere, the battle favors the Holly King who shades the Earth and brings on the cold of winter. Continue reading
