Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Six of Cups

Six of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Rest your wings and dream a little. You’ve been fluttering about like a hummingbird, but haven’t taken time to slow down and see what it really is you need (not want; but need). Be honest with yourself and look inside your own crystal ball. What is it that you really want to see in there? What is it that you’ve been asking for, but have been afraid to allow yourself to have. Maybe the reflection will help you see, you already have it.

Additional Insight:

It’s ok to have far off dreams as long as you keep them in perspective. But don’t let the fanciful fantasy of far off people or places keep you from seeing what it is you already have. Nothing is perfect, not even that dream relationship; dream house; or even that dream career you’ve imagined in your head.

So when you work on your goals and things don’t go exactly the way you’ve dreamed them to be, don’t get mad and throw away everything you’ve worked for. Nothing is perfect; not even you. And that’s ok, because that’s part of life in this world we have incarnated into.

Make sure you pay attention to the expectations you put on others and on the situations you’re involved in. Including yourself. Things have turned a corner, even though you may not see everything on the new road you’ve turned on to. There are still areas to be worked out and you won’t be able to do that if you’re allowing your distractions to cloud your real goals. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: The Sun – Inverted

The Sun - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Ask why you’re trying to shine so bright? Is it for pride, self-sufficiency and a sense of self-worth? Are you holding onto a healthy ego with confidence because you’ve accomplished goals you’ve set for yourself? It’s ok to be proud, you’ve earned that right. Or is it a strong desire for success and popularity because you want to be admired? The latter requires work, warmth and compassion. Pay attention to your actions and reactions today. Too much confidence creates a sense of entitlement and arrogance.

Additional Insight:

Too much ego creates arrogance and those who might normally look to you as an example of success, will be turned away with no desire to get to know you at all. Don’t let your physical condition (being tired or achy, etc.) change your personality so much that you become aloof and uncaring to those around you. You’re not the only one who’s suffering with lack of sleep or aches and pains. And your attitude maybe mistaken for a sense of arrogance and entitlement, instead of the fortitude trying to make it through the day.

Yellow is the color of success, and the sun has much to offer in that regard. But you must be cautious that the pride you have in your accomplishments doesn’t swing your pendulum to far in any direction. Not enough confidence and pride in your accomplishments can get you over looked. Too much and you might gain some negative attention you don’t necessarily want either. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Three of Wands

wands-3

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Do the research yourself and don’t take someone else’s word for what’s going on. What you’re being told might be accurate and factual, but you still have things to learn about the details behind the story. Knowing more will give you a better understanding of what’s going on and how it directly affects you. If at all. Allow your curiosity to explore, expand and discover new things you never knew anything about. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find. And it could have a great impact on you than you may have previously imagined.

Additional Insight:

Being curious is the best trait any of us can have. It allows us to discover new things, expand our views and increases our understanding of the Universe around us. When we learn about others and how they view the world we can develop tolerance which leads to peace.

Haven’t we had enough hate and anger, animosity and war in this world? Has any of that intolerance gained you anything at all?

Wands represent the inspiration and magik of our lives. And the three shows us that we all have something to learn through our Mind, Body, Spirit connection to each other and to the greater Divine Universe. Whatever that Divine concept is to you, you’re not alone in this world. And what’s right for you may not be what’s right for someone else. That doesn’t mean you must be at odds with those around you. It merely means you each see the world in slightly different ways. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Wheel of Fortune

Wheel Of Fortune

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Spin the wheel and let it fly; but remember…YOU have the power to stop the wheel where you want it to land. Take control of your future. You don’t have to let the influences of others or the force of nature, control your journey or your destiny. Luck isn’t something that simply happens on its own. You create lucky events by your choices, thoughts and manifested energies. Luck is being prepared when opportunities arise. Time to get to work!

Additional Insight:

You are the magik that creates the destiny upon your path. You can wallow in self-pity and cry “woe is me” and allow your fate to be covered in vines. You can stagnate your movement, bog down your journey and even spin the wheel backwards if you’re not careful.

Or you can get up off your knees, do the work that needs to be done and spin the wheel with all your might. Break the barriers that try to hold it still and keep you in the over grown weeds. Then spread your magikal wings and grab hold of the wheel to help it land where you need and want it to be.

Fate is what you make, and the wheel reminds us that our fortune is in our own hands. We decide what influences will impact its spin. Is it rusted, does it squeak and struggle to move an inch? Or do you take care of it, keep it oiled and polished and help it spin freely with ease? Your choices, your actions and your work are what help your Wheel of Fortune move through the cycles of energy. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: King of Cups

King of Cups

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Don’t let the voices in your head argue over who’s right or who’s not. They’re only your self doubt and mental  reasoning trying to fight it out with fear and for one purpose; to rule over your life. Tell them to shut up, you’ve had enough. The constant negative self talk is doing nothing but creating turmoil in your Mind, Body and Spirit. You really need to stop it! Start thinking from your higher Divine consciousness. Go within and find the peace and quiet that knows the real truth for you, and the direction your path should take.

Additional Insight:

Cups represent the essence of Emotions & Apathy, Happiness & Despair, Abundance & Lack. Clarity & Confusion.

Allow your spiritual consciousness to speak and show you the answers you already know from within. Bring clarity to your emotions and you will discover your own happiness and abundance in all aspects of your life.

There’s no better time than this week to work on transitions from old patterns to new thoughts of confidence, self-assurance and faith in yourself.  (Friday, June 13th 2014 & June’s Full Moon).

Stop hoping for things to change when you’re still walking the same path and doing the same things you’ve always done. That kind of Apathy will only create more of the same. “Hope is a beggar. Hope walks through the fire. Faith leaps over it.” ~ Jim Carrey (Have Faith, Not Hope).

I’ve modified that phrase a little this week. “Hope is a beggar. Faith is a believer. Hope walks through the fire. Faith leaps over it!” ~ Dr. Vickie Carey. Continue reading

The Popularity of Friday the 13th

thirteen-wolf

I’m not a cat person. A Black Wolf will do fine
for my Friday the 13th Message.

What The Numbers Say

One day closer to Friday the 13th’s Full Moon and another post to make note of this special event. This time it’s a little more personal.

I’ve been writing about Friday the 13th since starting my blog in 2012. It’s come around 4 times so far. Each time I try to share something new about the day and how we Pagans think of the day. “The History of Friday The 13th – A Good Day For Pagans” is by far the most popular topic for a one day event here on Springwolf Reflections.

The most popular topic on average each year has been, and continues to be “Soul Mates, Twin Souls & Karmic Relationships“.

On September 13th, 2013 Reflections had it’s most popular single day. 788 views! And the number one reason? Yep Friday the 13th.

On December 13th, 2013 our visits were near that number, 732. Again, Friday the 13th.

This Friday the 13th coincides with June’s Full Moon. And traffic to Reflections has already started picking up. And again, for Friday the 13th. It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how this week progresses. Yesterday alone brought 327 visitors. Almost half the number of our most popular day. And we were still 3 days away from Friday! Continue reading

Friday, the 13th and The Full Moon

Thirteen On Springwolf ReflectionsWhat’s In A Day?

Thirteen. The number of transition and change. The Witch’s Number. The number of a Perfect Coven and Black Cats.

We’re coming up on another Friday the 13th this week and as usual I wanted to take note of it. It’s typically seen as a day of Good Luck for Pagans. A time to celebrate and take note of transition and change in our lives. To welcome and honor that change as part of the circle of life and the flow of Nature’s energy.

The one constant in Nature is that nothing stays the same. All things change. But in general humans fear change. They’re scared of what’s coming around the corner and what they don’t know. Better the Devil you know, than the one you don’t. But wouldn’t it be better to welcome change and be excited about what’s to come?!

This Friday the 13th is also marked by a Full Moon. In my clan we call this month’s full moon the Strawberry Moon, but it has other Moon Names too. For the Celts it’s the Moon of Horses. For the early Colonials it’s the Rose Moon. For the Cherokee it’s the Green Corn Moon. And of course there are many more.

So is there something special about a full moon falling on Friday the 13th? Of course there is! Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Four of Wands

4 of Wands

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Discoveries abound from the shadows and make themselves known when you need them the most. Share what you have found with those closest to you and you’ll discover an abundance of magik from all corners of your life. The wind blows in your favor and the things you didn’t want can be put to rest in favor of the things you really need. But remember it takes everyone to participate and share their energy to create the dream.

Additional Insight:

Wands represent the essence of Enterprise & Inaction, Inspiration & Pessimism, Distinction & Disregard. They can denote creation and manifestation through magik. Or chaos and destruction through fear.

What you discover today can be the answer to your woes, but only if you share that knowledge and work together to build the things you need as a team. Remember that what you need isn’t always what you want and you must be open to everything that crosses your path today.

Today can be broken down into three aspects;
The female energy that shares its wisdom and nurtures the work.
The male energy that examines the details and develops the physical action.
The child’s energy that brings forth the innocence of curiosity and discovery.

Align your energies to the Divine feminine energy of self with that of the masculine physical energy here on earth. Toss in your inner child that fills your view with wonderment, excitement and a fresh view of the things before you. Allowing your Mind, Body and Spirit to balance and share space as one will lift your perspective and show you the hidden treasures that exist all around you today. And one of those treasures will bring the answer to your current fear or woes.

The Legend Of The Sun and The Moon

sun-n-moonThe History Of How The Sun Loved The Moon

“Tell me the story about how the Sun loved the Moon so much he died every night to let her breathe.”

Oh and yes, it’s breathe. You take in a breath that allows your lungs to breathe. Seems there has been some debate about that too.

The quote itself has captured the imagination of people world-wide. But what is the story and where did it come from? What’s the history or origin of the phrase? Who said it? And what’s the whole story?

I’ve spent a good deal of time searching and delving into the history of this phrase. And continue to search, for the original source. My initial assessment hasn’t changed. No one actually knows where it originated. So far…

Some believe it’s a spin on a much earlier folktale “Why the Sun Chases the Moon”. But there’s no real factual evidence linking these two together. Mostly supposition and that doesn’t make the link clear. It makes it a theory based on opinion. Not good enough for me.

Whither it’s a claim that the story was inspired from the Bible, the Australian Aborigines, Indo-European Pagans, the Norse, the Mayans, various Native American Nations or any other variety of cultures, people want to be “the originators” of this grand phrase and subsequent story. It’s such a great line, everyone simply wants the quote to come from “their” cultural origin and their history.  Continue reading
