Constantly looking for a fight chains you to the past. There’s a difference between protecting your interests and walking out the door fully armed for any and every battle. If you keep looking for the fight, you’ll never find the peace and calm serenity you claim to want. Time to start looking with better eyes. Put down the sword and walk among the smiles of joy.

Time to review how the past has created automated responses in the situations of today. You may feel that this new situation is like the one you’ve been through before, but it’s not the same. You don’t need to react in the same knee jerk reaction and repeat the same pattern of drama.

Focus on what you learned from the past. Take a deep breath and control your own emotions and guide your own decisions. Don’t give your power away to someone else who is trying to manipulate your response. When you’re in control of what you think, say and do, you’ll be able to guide your own journey and break the negative patterns.
Stop envisioning what you’d say if they were before you or what you would do if you could back in time. Contemplating what you’ll say or do next time to get revenge or come out on top of the battle doesn’t help to release the negative energy that is still impacting your life. Let it go already and forgive. Yes, seriously, forgive them of their transgressions; because in the end you allowed yourself to be manipulated. Fairly or unfairly, it was a lesson you decided to learn. Now learn from it and let it go once and for all. Continue reading
