Make the effort to remind your family and friends that you really do love them. Spending time together is great. But remember it’s not necessarily the quantity of time that matters most, but the quality. If you’re distant from those you care about when you’re with them, they’ll get the idea you’re no longer interested. Holding hands, a touch on the shoulder or face can go a long way to reminding you all that love still lights the way.
We can spend a lot of time with those we love and never share a touch, a kind glance or use the words to remind each other that we still love them. It doesn’t take much to reinforce the emotions we share.
Holding hands for no reason. Reaching across the dinner table and sharing a tender caress, a gentle tap on the shoulder or better yet, what about a nice hug to remind those we care for that we’re still there by their side.
We can get caught up in the nitty-gritty business of the day and focus on the plan, the next chore or the next stop on the calendar and forget that all the work means little when you have no one to share with. If you’ve been feeling lonely, look in the mirror and ask yourself why. If you’re not getting the attention, than someone in your life hasn’t been getting the reminders either.
You don’t have to be in a relationship to have those feelings either. We all have family and friends. At least one person out there is waiting for you to call and say “let’s go out for tea and have an adventure”. Even if that someone is a 4-legged best friend. Continue reading
