Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Four of Pentacles

4 of Pentacles

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Watch your back. If you don’t step up to the plate, someone else will take what you’ve earned. You worked hard to fill your baskets. Don’t become so frightened or overwhelmed about doing the work that you allow someone else to take what you’ve earned. Now is not the time to rest either. Get your head in the game and get back to doing what you do so well! This is what you wanted. So hop to it!

Additional Insight:

We can spend so much time working on our dream that when it begins to manifest we stop and try to coast the rest of the way up the hill. Sadly, life doesn’t work that way. When you reach the top of the mountain, you still have the plateau to cross, before you can coast for a little while.

You still have a lot to do and ways to go. Pay attention to what’s going on around you. Make sure you’re positioned to do the work you take on. And if not, then it’s time to grow and expand. There are many people who need work and many more who want to help you out.

Don’t become overwhelmed by the turn around. It’s what you’ve hoped for, and worked to hard to get to. Now it’s time to get to it!

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Knave of Swords – Inverted

Knave of Swords - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Don’t give up. The year has just started! The holidays may not have been what you hoped for, but they’re over now and a new year has begun. Most folks are heading back to work and to school. The attitude you carry into this first day of returning to reality will set your energy for the year. Start it with vim and vigor and the fortitude to move forward, conquer and overcome!

Additional Insight:

You can start the year with a defeatist attitude and put your head between your legs to kiss your backside goodbye. Or you can stand up and face the challenges of every day life with everyone else who chooses to move forward. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and start feeling pride for yourself. Your attitude creates the energy you will pull toward you. So stop pulling in the negative.

You are better off than you think you are and have more to be thankful for here in the beginning of the year than some. Remember someone always has it worse than you do. So you haven’t paid the rent this month, someone near you hasn’t been able to pay theirs for several months and face eviction or foreclosure.

So you ob isn’t paying enough for you to live the way you used to. Someone near can’t get a ob at all and has gone hungry for several days. Your car is having problems on top of everything else? Someone near you has to walk in the cold or blistering heat and doesn’t have the luxury of a bus to take them where they need to go.

Everyone can find something to complain about, no matter how much abundance they have in their lives. It’s easy to complain, that’s the culture we’ve been trained to live in. But it’s easier to look at the good things you have going for you and pull positive energy into your day. Doing so makes the next day even easier. And the next and the next! Before you know it, the good more than outweighs the bad and you’ve changed your life…and the year…for the better.

It’s a good time to remember and recite the years new motto: I am at peace and live in the moment with all the prosperity and abundance I require!

Tarot Meditation Message for 2014

Major Arcana JudgementHappy New Year!

Many of you have asked for a Tarot meditation message for the year. Considering the number of emails I received I decided to comply. Now to be honest, I’ve never pulled a card for a full years message before. So this is a first. I hope it inspires you to stretch your boundaries and push your abilities beyond your comfort zone as it has mine!

2014’s Tarot Meditation Message: Judgement
The overall theme for the year:
Judgement is a card from the Major Arcana of a Tarot Deck. As such it represents the spiritual aspects of the self and how important your spiritual lessons, karma and perspectives will be throughout the year.

Living in balance between the physical and spiritual words that surround you are not only important, but doing so will help you maintain a focus of balanced judgement in what you see, hear and how you react to events in your life. Continue reading

Counting My Blessings

friendshipA Story of Friendship

I’m from a little town in Tennessee called Jonesborough. I didn’t grow up there, but my Grand Mother lived on West Main St. until her passing many years ago. My dad was born in that house. When we went to visit family, all of whom live around there, that’s where we stayed. It was going down “home” and I truly love that little place.

One of the things that still draws me to this little town is its history, being the Oldest Town in Tennessee, and that it’s home of the International Storytelling Center. A truly wonderful place to visit!

To show my support for one of my favorite places, I follow the ISC on Facebook. This weekend, they shared a story that is definitely worth reading. They posted this on their FB page. Continue reading

2014 Moon Phase Calendar

howlingwolfOur Popular Reference Sheet

Each year I publish a calendar for the moon phases and astronomical events of the coming year. About this time I’m amazed by the number of people sending me messages asking if I’m going to update the calendar for the coming year. I’m very glad the calendar has become such a popular resource for so many people. Especially in this technological age of tablets and smart phones.

If you’re one of those folks who enjoy the Moon Phases Calendar on my old Pagan’s Path website, it’s been updated today for 2014!

This will probably be the last year I update the calendar because of those technological apps. They do a great job of personalizing phases and events for your specific location.

If you have a tablet or smart phone, I have a couple of apps on my phone that I use throughout the year that you might like. What I like about them the most is they notify me of phase changes. I have a reminder set for a few days before a moon phase change so I have time to get ready for a ritual or make plans for a Esbat ceremony I might be officiating. Between my two favorite apps, I never miss a phase change or a daily event.

I gave a critique of these apps here on Reflections in December 2012. So check out Sun & Moon Watching On Your Phone for more info.

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: King of Swords

King of Swords

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Don’t be afraid to show your strength of heart and compassion. Simply because others don’t agree with your views and you’re surrounded by opponents don’t “pretend” to fit in. The King rules over his domain without needing approval from others to set his policy and act upon his own beliefs. It’s ok for others to have different views and to hold different and even inaccurate reasons for their views. You don’t want others tell you what to think, don’t tell them what they have to think. But please, Do think for yourself!

Additional Insight:

Even though others are relying on old perspectives, ill-informed information, or unreliable sources to form their opinions; that doesn’t mean you have to. You have as much right to think for yourself and form your own view as anyone else. Don’t be afraid to allow your compassion to shine.

Make sure you review situations before you get involved in their arguments however. Don’t simply jump in and wage a battle that doesn’t need to be fought. Some are impossible to budge and you’ll have better luck arguing with a stone. Know when to speak up and when to simply walk away. Discernment is a key characteristic of any King..or Queen.

Take time to research your position and study your opponent’s position before you engage in debate. Knowing your enemy better than they know themselves is the best weapon you can have to end their attack. Those you maybe going up against aren’t as educated as they make themselves out to be. Blind faith isn’t a strong position to fight from.

But remember you don’t have to be cruel, angry or emotional to win a debate. It’s not the person who yells the loudest or gets the most angry that wins. It’s the one who lives by their principles and becomes a shining example of their position with compassion, calmness and doesn’t take attacks from others as bait. Don’t allow them to control your reactions or your arguments in the discussion. Facts will always out weigh emotional diatribes every time.

This is our last daily tarot meditation drawing for 2013. We hope everyone has a wonderful, happy and peaceful holiday season. Many Blessings and Happy New Year! We’ll be back on January 6th 2014.

In 2008 I took on a personal quest to satisfy a desire for personal validation. I had decades of knowledge and experience in my spiritual path, but some how I felt that I didn’t have the right to call myself a teacher or spiritual minister. This was simply something I felt was lacking within my own confidence.

I was serious about my mission and what I wanted to accomplish with my teachings. I was often praised for my classes and lectures, consultations, healing and helping others. But those compliments didn’t satisfy my own inner perspective of my, let’s call it authority for lack of a better word. I did my research of universities, colleges, cost of enrollment and which programs would support my pagan beliefs and focus on the foundation of those beliefs from a metaphysical and shamanistic perspective. I settled on the degree programs of the 50+ year organization of the International Metaphysical Ministry (IMM) offered through one of their institutes of higher learning, the University of Sedona. Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Eight of Pentacles – Inverted

Eight Of Pentacles - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Protect what’s important to you and show you care. That’s what makes a house into a home. It’s not how big it is, or how well it’s furnished. Those material things have nothing to do with being “home”. It’s the little things you do for each other to celebrate the small victories. Because the big ones done come around very often.

Additional Insight:

You’re the one who makes a house into a home by caring for each other and living within its walls. Do some clearing, cleansing and set some shields for protection. Do the little repairs to keep it safe and secure. Take a little time to do some cleaning. And when there are celebrations to be had, do a little decorating. Even if all you’re doing is sticking a ribbon and bow onto an entry way, it’s a small way to show the energy you have inside.

The big things in life don’t come along that often to remind us what’s important in our little piece of the world. It’s the little things we take note of and celebrate that remind us of the steps we take forward and joy we have in our every day life. It’s the little things you do for the ones you love and for yourself that create happiness and contentment within yourself.

It’s not the trappings of crystal chandeliers, fine china or linen table cloths that make a celebration meal special. It’s the moments we share with those we love, the laughter and little conversations that matter the most. Even if the one you’re sharing it with has four legs, feathers or scales; family can mean many different things to different people. You’re never really alone, even if that special connection of energy is with the one you love visits in spirit.

Take time to put up the decorations, no matter how small. Even if you’re the only one who will see it, you’re worth the effort. Let yourself feel the love and compassion, the sparkling celebration and beauty of your space. The little smile you express is enough to lift your spirit and remind you, there’s always someone who cares and who loves within your own home.
