Resources To Help Get You Inspired & Motivated

We all have days that we want to hide from the world. To get back into bed and dream the day we wish we had. Or hide behind the curtains and watch old movies, eat a pint of ice cream (my favorite is cookies and cream) and try to escape the events of the day. But hiding away doesn’t fix anything.

The ebb and flow of life is generally a normal part of living. Maybe we do need more sleep, a nap might turn things around. Maybe we need to examine what we’ve taken in that nurtured our body and mind. Have you been focusing on junk food? Maybe a healthy meal could give you some energy. Have you been burning the candle at both ends? Wearing yourself down like that makes it much easier for your body to catch even the smallest bug that turns into a big bout with a cold or the flu.

Or maybe you’re spending too much time thinking about the mistake(s) you made and allowing those events to anchor you in the negative energy that won’t allow you to flow out into a better day. Negative self talk is a very common problem with a lot of people. And it can be very destructive for many people. Even those who seem to have it all together.

Some times we need something to remind us of our blessings, or what we should be doing to move forward. Things that help us stay focused and mindful of our thoughts and actions can lessen the valley of sadness. Little inspirations that help boost our desire to dance! Continue reading

Confidence vs Arrogance

Confidence 2When Does Ego Become A Problem

What one person views as confidence, another person will view as arrogance. It’s a fine line that doesn’t exist on a set standard or a measuring tape or in the levels on a scale. It’s not a tangible thing that can be measured for everyone to share and compare. Because it’s based on perspective and everyone’s perception is different.

How you see yourself and your abilities will determine where that measuring stick is for you. Let’s give our stick a range of 1 to 10.

If you hold confidence in yourself, and believe in your abilities, your skill and experience than the bar for achieving arrogance will be set pretty high. Let’s put it around a level of 9 on the arrogance chart.

Consequently, if you’re someone who has self doubts in any or your abilities, skill, knowledge or experience, then your bar for achieving arrogance will be set lower. Let’s put that one at level 6 on the arrogance chart.

If you have self doubts, your always questioning your abilities, skill, knowledge or experiences and you’re unsure if you can do something successfully, then you may have serious confidence issues. Let’s put that down at level 3 on our arrogance chart. Continue reading

Happy March

Fairy and the Wolf by Islanimation

Fairy and the Wolf by Islanimation

The Month For Faeries

Just a little reminder that March is the month for Magik and Faery Blessings.

Pixie, leprechaun, faerie, brownie, sprite are all terms for these supernatural beings, thought to be helpful or harmful to people.   Faerie is the most general name for such beings: a good faerie is often referred to as a godmother (faerie godmother); but they may also cause misadventures for humans.

Stories and legends of wee magikal folk can be found all around the world. One reason they have so many names and varying characteristics. Some are larger than others, some are more magikal, or come at certain times of the year. Continue reading

Do You Practice What You Preach?

Today I found a FB Share on my feed that annoyed me. It was an image from an extended family member that attacked people in general who are not Christian and don’t believe in Christ as they do. It made me wonder if some people really understand what it means to Walk the path you Talk. Do you understand how to put into practice what you claim to preach? Or even why do they think they have the corner market on morality, intelligence, being a good person or living a respectable good or positive life?

Now I don’t mean all Christians are like this. I know quite a few who are accepting and loving of all people. They are what I would call true Christians. They practice their faith in every moment of their life without judgement. While others are only “Sunday Christians” or Christian when it suits them. They don’t think about the implications of their actions or words, or FB shares and it doesn’t represent what they would say is a “Good Christian”. They simply push a button and move on.

Reverend Troy Mendez is the Dean of the Episcopal Cathedral in Phoenix Arizona and he said something on Anderson Cooper 360 this week that impressed me:  “we believe we are to seek and serve Christ in all people.” You can watch his interview on AC360:Mendez.  I highly recommend it for everyone. It’s a beautiful example of what I would call a real Christian. In the interview Rev. Mendez was talking about the Bill in Arizona that allows businesses to discriminate based on their Freedom of Religion. But his comments apply to life in general and in every situation we may face, not simply for this controversial bill. Continue reading

What’s Your Wolf Name

A Moment Of Fun

It’s been a stressful day! This evening I decided to let off some built up energy with a little creativity. I saw a post on FB for finding your Wolf name and thought hmm..I don’t like the words they creator used for such a name. They were fearful, vicious and all the things western cultures have stereotyped wolves to be.

Wolves are regal, mystical and mysterious. They’re spiritual guides, teachers and show us the way into ourselves. Yeah they can often times be a bit randy. That’s because they know how to have a little fun and balance out the seriousness of life. So I decided to create my own Name Game to honor my namesake. This is my version of “What’s Your Wolf Name”. I hope you like it.

Bigotry Cloaked In Religion Is Still Bigotry

Everyone here at Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven felt the need to make a statement about the recent issues being raised world-wide in the name of “religion” that discriminate against any group or community of people.

As a Pagan Metaphysical organization and group we have stood up against bigotry of all kinds in the past. We believe that all people have value and deserve freedom to live their lives in peace and respect without harm or persecution.

No matter what race, gender, disability, religion or sexual orientation; all people deserve respect and equal protection as humans with rights for liberty and freedom. Continue reading

Catching Up

newday-wolfA Few Little Things Have Been Added

We’ve added a few new articles/pages to the blog today and you may have received some notifications about them. So we thought we’d toot our horn and let you know what we’ve been up to.

Back in late 2011 when Pagan Metaphysics 101 was published, we had a Media Kit for the book. The kit was for news outlets who wanted information, conducted reviews or wanted to have an interview for the book.

We would email the kit to those outlets and then they could do what they needed with them. I didn’t know we did that for everyone who contacted us. Wow! That’s a lot of emailing with some big attachments.

Today we sat down and put all that here on the blog. What’s the point of having a blog if it can’t work for you and make things easier.  So if you’ve seen some new posts (we back dated them by the way) in your reader or email, you know what we’ve been doing.

If you don’t follow the blog…..well, why don’t you? smiley-wink  You can “Follow Springwolf Reflections” by email and you’ll be notified of new posts/articles/etc.  Look for the sign-up section on the right sidebar under the image of the book.

In the meantime, we added a new page called Media Kits along with some pages and images to go along with it.

A Perspective On Tarot

The MoonWhat’s Behind The Card

Many people ask me about a particular card in a Tarot spread they laid out the night or week before. What does it mean, what might it be trying to tell them and how should they apply that to their spread? I can’t answer those questions for people. Why? Because they never share the image of the card or the intent behind its placement in the spread.

Many readers today think that the Moon card, for instance, means the same thing in deck A as it will in deck B. It doesn’t. It has a general category, but the meaning of the card is hidden within the images of that card. And since each deck is different, the message in the images will be different.

Additionally, if the card is part of the Major Arcana vs. the Minor Arcana that will also have influence on the meaning and message of the card. In general the Major Arcana deals with the higher consciousness, the spirit, spiritual karma, lessons and the soul’s mission in this lifetime.

Where as the Minor Arcana will be influenced by the physical aspects of day-to-day life. Your thinking process and perspectives and how those attract or repel energy around you. Continue reading

A Healthy Ego Is Important

The Wise Old Wolf : A Healthy Ego Allows You To Be You

Is The Ego Bad?

Today I saw one of those inspirational FB images and it brought up a thought that I face every week during counseling. It was titled “Overcoming Your Ego” and listed several steps to accomplish that. From my perspective, the steps were overcoming arrogance, or egotism, not ego and that’s an important difference.

The word “ego” has been used as a metaphysical term to describe the self for centuries. By definition it is:
the “I” or self of any person; a person as thinking, feeling, willing, and distinguishing itself from the selves of others and from objects of its thought. ~ Dictionary.com

A healthy ego, allows you to be who you are as an individual. It also allows you to be you and let’s you respect others for who and what they are as well. Continue reading

We Are All InterConnected

How Wolves Change Rivers

As humans we know that Apex predators, such as ourselves, can adversely affect the world in which we live in. Over hunting, over fishing and destruction of our natural resources have put humankind on a stopwatch that counts down to our own extinction. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Have a look at this amazing video on The National Geographic website, showing how one species can have a massive cascading effect on the entire ecosystem in which it lives… and even alter the geography of the area. All for the betterment of the area and those in it.
