Our Theme Customization Has Crashed

Don’t worry, if you’re looking for Springwolf Reflections, you really are at the right place. It seems something happened overnight and our theme header has reverted back to the original default. We’re not exactly sure what happened, but we’ve reported the issue to WordPress (who is our blog host) and we hope to have it resolved soon enough.

We really like our site’s header so we hope it’s fixed soon!

Our Hearts Honor Our Fallen Brethren

On May 10th, 2013 we shared news about the Veteran’s Administration’s approval of Thor’s Hammer (the symbolic Mjölnir) for our heathen brothers and sisters. The official Veterans Affairs “Available Emblems of Belief for Placement on Government Headstones and Markers” list was updated on May 2nd, 2013 and included at least two new emblems; Emblem #55 Thor’s Hammer and Emblem #56 Unification Church.

The update was made with little to no fan-fair from the VA or news agencies in general. But to the pagan and heathen communities, this was BIG NEWS!

Everyone here at Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven extend our thoughts, prayers and blessings to the family of the fallen soldier that initiated this fight. We are honored by their strength to take on this battle for all heathens and pagans alike.

We extend our thanks to all service men and women, and their families for the sacrifices they make for our freedom every day. And especially to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for those rights all Americans enjoy.

Thor’s Hammer Emblem #55

Thor’s Hammer Approved For Veterans Headstones

Pagan organizations have been fighting in court to have their emblems added to the official Veterans Affairs “Available Emblems of Belief for Placement on Government Headstones and Markers” list. It appears that has finally happened for Heathens who see Thor’s Hammer (the symbolic Mjölnir) as the symbol for their faith.

Without any fan fair, announcement, press release or celebration, the VA quietly updated the approved list of symbols on May 2, 2013. At least two emblems have been added to the list. Emblem #55 Thor’s Hammer and Emblem #56 Unification Church.

In searching for an official statement of the release, I’ve gotten nothing from the VA except for technology searches that indicate the page was definitely updated on May 2nd. I did find an advocate for the Thor inclusion who relayed to me that the emblem was approved in April and the list updated this month on May 2nd. Continue reading →

A One Year Anniversary
One year ago this month I was blessed by an invitation to join Paul Cagle and Sushi on the Ænigma Project as a permanent co-host. My first official show was May 14th, 2012 and our topic was “Soul Mates“. How fitting. Not to mention my favorite number is 4 and all the good things that happen in my life always seem to have a 4 in them some how. I’ve written about that wonderful number four here on my blog before.

In our Soul Mate show we discussed “What are they. How do we make relationship agreements in spirit. Are they karmic in nature? Or is it something bigger?” And that show was followed up with an articled posted here on Reflections, “Soul Mates, Twin Souls & Karmic Relationships“. Continue reading →

The Festival of Bel’s Fire

May You Have A Wonderful Holiday Celebration!

By the Solar Calendar, the holiday is celebrated on May 1st. But by the Lunar Calendar it’s honored on May 6th.

The early Celts were very balanced in the way they scheduled their lives. One of the places this is seen most clearly are in the High Holy days.

Each festival fell in between a solstice or equinox. February 6 for Imbolg, May 6th for Beltaine and August 6th for Lughnasadh as examples.

With the advent of the modern calendar, the festivals were assigned to dates based on solar cycles. And most Pagan Metaphysical traditions follow this selection of dates for their holiday observances. To some degree this does throw off the balance intended for the cycle of the lunar year. This is also one reason varying traditions hold their festivals on different days. Wicca for instance recognizes May 1st as the date for Beltaine. Where as my tradition, Deborean, still recognizes May 6th as the date to honor Bel.
