I’m A Survivor

The Prayer of Strength and Endurance

Everyone faces adversity in their own way. Some people yell at the top of their lungs and join the march because they’re followers and part of the mob. They don’t stop to think for themselves or discover the truth behind the inflammatory remarks from others. Sadly the internet, social media and “sharing” posts have made this all to easy and created ignorance. When you do this you become part of the ill informed community who relies on others to lead the way.

Be your own leader. Take control of your own emotions and the choices you make in life. Discover the facts and find out what the real story is first. You have the Library of Alexandria at your finger tips and it’s not hard to use a search engine of your choice and find out if the information you’re being given is accurate or not.

And when you do discover news that gets your blood boiling, never put all your cards on the table. Never allow the foe to win the argument because you lost control of your own emotions. Remain quiet to think through the argument and contemplate the best tactical response. Use your calm intellect to refute the lies and misinformation with evidence and facts. Express your actions with kindness, you don’t need to back your adversary into a corner they can’t get out of. Having nothing else to lose creates an inner strength that can beat back the greatest of armies. (A lesson from Sun Tsu and the “Art of War”).

Desperation is the biggest enemy to any person or situation. It causes us to make mistakes, bad choices and to do things we otherwise wouldn’t dream of doing. But desperation is never an excuse to justify our actions. You always have a choice. You can always fight back and defend yourself with a measured response. Shock and awe overshadows the real battle raging beneath the smoke. But when the smoke clears, you want to be the one left standing with pride, dignity and honor.
