My husband and I have recently faced some business challenges that brought a great deal of stress into your lives. I’m blessed with the partnership I have with him. When challenges come our way we seem to grow closer and face them as a united front. But we’re human like all couples and we do get annoyed with each other from time to time. Thankfully, our annoyances are pretty mild and don’t last a long time. We still end up pulling together and wading through the issues that fall on our plate and success with support and respect for each other.

Sometimes we all get into a rut and continue a fight that deep down we know maybe a loosing battle. We can refuse to see the inevitable out of fear of change, or the unknown. Or because the known “evil” is more secure than what maybe around the corner that we don’t know.

When we fall into that rut, the Divine has a way of pushing us along to help move our energy and to get us to something better. We may not always see what’s going on as it’s happening, but hindsight is always 20/20 and becomes clear when we have made it through the change.

Then again sometimes we know what needs to be done, but must bring an end to one situation to get to the new. The knowing doesn’t always make it easier nor does it necessarily take away the worry and stress from what needs to be done. Especially when others are involved.

This was the case for our struggle. Not knowing how others are going to handle your decisions to put an end to a negative or bad situation in your life can sometimes make that decision harder. Not knowing what the consequences maybe when those decisions are presented can add to the worry. But when presented with an option to endure the negative or take a chance and end what’s not working; the change can often be the better choice.  Negativity only breeds more negativity. That’s not good for you, nor is it good for anyone around you or affected by that negative anger and the frustrations associated with it.

Thankfully for us, things went much better than expected. Ending a chapter of one business and freeing our hands to work on a project that we know will serve our family and business goals a lot better than the previous situation. When you take a chance to reach for the brass ring, you always take a step toward grabbing it. If you do nothing, you’ll find yourself closer to the ring and will never be able to reach up and grab it.

Even if you fail the first time, you will learn things that will serve you well the next time you try. The more you learn, the more you learn to believe in yourself; even when others do not. But you must at least try to move forward with positive intent and energy. The negative only acts as an anchor that holds you back. And no one succeeds by playing it safe and not taking the chance to get into the race. There’s no reason to be angry when the effort falls short or doesn’t work out. As long as we try, we know we did our best and we can chalk up the lessons learned that help us plan better, be more prepared and help us see more of what lays ahead than we did previously. Each of things brings us closer to success and grabbing that brass ring next time we try.

When we were in the midst of facing these challenges, a dear friend of mine, Angela; sent me something in the mail to help inspire our fight to endure. I really liked this and wanted to share these with others who maybe facing challenges in their life, in personal or business matters.

How we think each morning starts the process of creation. Thought is energy that we put into motion on the ethereal plane. It moves around us, through us and walks the path we walk until it manifests in physical form. Once in physical form, the event created by our thought will generate a reaction from us. Again, creating a thought that creates a pattern of energy that we put into motion. It’s a cycle of energy that we establish around ourselves each moment of our lives. In other words, this is the Law of Accountability in action. What you put out, you get back.

The following “commandments” help put this concept into action with 10 simple things to remember and do. My thanks to Angela for sharing these with me. I hope sharing them here will help someone else as well.

10 Commandments To Live By

1. Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.

2. Thou shall not be fearful, for most things we fear never come to pass.

3. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.

4. Thou shall face each problem as it comes. You can’t solve a problem that has not presented itself and may never come.

5. Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows.

6. Thou shall not borrow other people’s problems. You can’t learn the lessons for them.

7. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life today and be happy now!

8. Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen, do you hear ideas from others. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.

9. Thou shall not become “bogged down” by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.

10. Thou shall count thy blessings. Never overlook the small things in life, for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.

You might want to hold onto these commandments and look back at them every now and then. Each time you read them, you can find another “aha moment.”
