Merry Solstice 2014

springtimeOde To Spring ~

The great Sun rises with the glow of fire,
as seeds are stuck in the muck and mire.
But spring is here on this solstice day,
and warmth returns to our rocky way.

With thunder and rain, the seeds break free.
They push through the Earth for all to see.
Bursting with colors so brilliant and bright,
they glimmer and glow in morning dew light.

And where be you on this luscious morn,
tied up in bed till the spring is be born?
Get up, come sing and dance with me.
Howl with the wolf and flutter with the bee!

It’s Springtime now and the north must wake.
The snows subside and the ice will break.
It’s a day to feast, to laugh and to sing!
For all the bright blessings, we give thanks to Spring!

The First 2014 Equinox – March 20th

A Day Of Balance To Honor The Light and Darkness

A Day Of Balance To Honor The Light and Darkness

Merry Ostara and Mabon

Despite the snow outside our window here in the eastern U.S., this weeks sees the return of astronomical spring. Down south however, our friends in the Southern Hemisphere are welcoming the end of Summer and beginning of Fall.

From everyone here at
Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven

We extend our most joyous wishes
and happiest blessings

to you and yours for a
wonderful and bright
Holiday Celebration!

Are you new to Equinox celebrations?
An equinox occurs twice a year (around 20 March and 22 September), when the plane of Earth’s equator passes the center of the Sun. At this time the tilt of the Earth’s axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun. The term equinox can also be used in a broader sense, meaning the date when such a passage happens. The name “equinox” is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, night and day are about equal length. ~ Wikipedia.com – Equinox. Continue reading

Celebrations of the Green Isle

Blessings Of The GreenA Day To Be Proud Of The Green

It’s St. Paddy’s Day here in the U.S. which is much more of a celebration of the Irish and the Green Isle than it is a day to honor a Catholic Saint. And that’s probably a good thing for Celtic Pagans. It allows us to connect with our heritage, honor the old country, the mystical ways of the past through song and celebration. Raise a glass or two of Irish Whiskey or Green Beer and in general have a good time.

But Pagan’s have good reason for not celebrating “St. Patrick’s Day” itself. I wrote about that last year, so feel free to run on over there and check out Why Pagan’s Don’t Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day.

For me today is an Irish Pride Day. A time to bring a bit of the mysticism and folklore of the old days back into thoughts and imaginations of the here and now. Who doesn’t need a little distraction from the stress and grind of the modern world?

So to honor this day of pride and connection, I offer this simple tale of magik and adventure. And I wish you all a very Magikal and Mystical Day of the Green as well.

The Month For Faeries

Just a little reminder that March is the month for Magik and Faery Blessings.

Pixie, leprechaun, faerie, brownie, sprite are all terms for these supernatural beings, thought to be helpful or harmful to people.   Faerie is the most general name for such beings: a good faerie is often referred to as a godmother (faerie godmother); but they may also cause misadventures for humans.

Stories and legends of wee magikal folk can be found all around the world. One reason they have so many names and varying characteristics. Some are larger than others, some are more magikal, or come at certain times of the year. Continue reading

What’s Your Wolf Name

A Moment Of Fun

It’s been a stressful day! This evening I decided to let off some built up energy with a little creativity. I saw a post on FB for finding your Wolf name and thought hmm..I don’t like the words they creator used for such a name. They were fearful, vicious and all the things western cultures have stereotyped wolves to be.

Wolves are regal, mystical and mysterious. They’re spiritual guides, teachers and show us the way into ourselves. Yeah they can often times be a bit randy. That’s because they know how to have a little fun and balance out the seriousness of life. So I decided to create my own Name Game to honor my namesake. This is my version of “What’s Your Wolf Name”. I hope you like it.

Human Tolerance, Respect and Voice

Add Your Voice And Speak Out

Add Your Voice And Speak Out Against All Discrimination & Intolerance

Bigotry Cloaked In Religion Is Still Bigotry

Everyone here at Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven felt the need to make a statement about the recent issues being raised world-wide in the name of “religion” that discriminate against any group or community of people.

As a Pagan Metaphysical organization and group we have stood up against bigotry of all kinds in the past. We believe that all people have value and deserve freedom to live their lives in peace and respect without harm or persecution.

No matter what race, gender, disability, religion or sexual orientation; all people deserve respect and equal protection as humans with rights for liberty and freedom. Continue reading

Catching Up

newday-wolfA Few Little Things Have Been Added

We’ve added a few new articles/pages to the blog today and you may have received some notifications about them. So we thought we’d toot our horn and let you know what we’ve been up to.

Back in late 2011 when Pagan Metaphysics 101 was published, we had a Media Kit for the book. The kit was for news outlets who wanted information, conducted reviews or wanted to have an interview for the book.

We would email the kit to those outlets and then they could do what they needed with them. I didn’t know we did that for everyone who contacted us. Wow! That’s a lot of emailing with some big attachments.

Today we sat down and put all that here on the blog. What’s the point of having a blog if it can’t work for you and make things easier.  So if you’ve seen some new posts (we back dated them by the way) in your reader or email, you know what we’ve been doing.

If you don’t follow the blog…..well, why don’t you? smiley-wink  You can “Follow Springwolf Reflections” by email and you’ll be notified of new posts/articles/etc.  Look for the sign-up section on the right sidebar under the image of the book.

In the meantime, we added a new page called Media Kits along with some pages and images to go along with it.

We Are All InterConnected

How Wolves Change Rivers

As humans we know that Apex predators, such as ourselves, can adversely affect the world in which we live in. Over hunting, over fishing and destruction of our natural resources have put humankind on a stopwatch that counts down to our own extinction. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Have a look at this amazing video on The National Geographic website, showing how one species can have a massive cascading effect on the entire ecosystem in which it lives… and even alter the geography of the area. All for the betterment of the area and those in it.

Happy Valentines Day!

Love Is….   RESPECT

When I perform a wedding I emphasis that relationships are work. They have hills and valleys. There will be arguments, there will be phases of smitten romance. But the one thing that will carry everyone to a longer term relationship, no matter what kind of relationship it is, will be the respect you hold for each other.

So if you ask me what the definition of Love is; I say, its holding Respect for those you care for.
