There are plenty of fish in the water to choose from. Stop worrying about the one that got away. Focus on you and what you’re doing to sustain yourself in these waters. You don’t need to change your spots to please each person who crosses your path. Just be yourself.
It’s hard to remember which face you’re showing to each person who crosses your path. Trying to be something others like and changing to be something else for a different person takes a lot of energy. It also takes a big toll on your emotions and well-being.
You’re not going to be able to please everyone in your life at all times. And you don’t have to either. Those who don’t like this aspect of you or that perspective you hold about that topic aren’t the people you need to worry about. The only person who counts, is you! And if you can’t live with yourself, no one else is going to stay by your side either.
You already know that it’s not up to someone else to make you happy. Why are you trying to make others happy by being who they expect or want you to be? You have to be accountable for your emotions, but they don’t? Say what?!
This is your life to live and your path to walk. When you are true to yourself, when you like being with YOU, others will see you for who and what you are, and come into your life as supporters. Let go of those who want to cram you into a box that you won’t fit in. Let go of the fish that don’t fit in your boat and don’t sustain your energy.
Learn to love yourself and be yourself. Show off your unique spots and you’ll find that the fish in the sea are attracted to your confidence and originality. Your courage and strength to be who you are will out shine everyone else and most important, it will change the shadows beneath the surface into reflections of light.
