Merry Imbolg and Lammas for 2015

Morning Light

Morning Light

The Festivals of Light and Fire

It’s that time of year again. Time we Pagans honor the change of seasons and celebrate Father Sun.

Here in the Northern Hemisphere we’re moving into the first of the Spring Festivals with Imbolg, the Festival of Light.  Father Sun begins his return to warm our hearts and extend his light in our day. This first spring holiday, is linked to the return of longer and warmer days that melt the snows and bring forth the rebirth of the world. Pagans honor Imbolc, Imbolg, Brigid’s Day or the Festival of Lights as the growing seasons returns and Mother Earth begins to bloom.

In the Southern Hemisphere we’re moving into the Fall Festivals with Lammas, the Festival of Fire. Lughnasadh, also known as Lammas is the Fire Festival that honors the Celtic hero Lugh who is often seen as the patron of the Sun.

It is the first of the Pagan Harvest Festivals and the time of year to thank the Tuatha Dé Danann (the Faeries) for their help in our gardens. Bon fire dancing is common and encouraged during this festival to bring the warm of the Sun into the world of the Humans.

Those who recognize February 1st as the observed holiday, will begin their rituals on January 31st. And for some places in the world, that’s already tonight.

Everyone here at Springwolf Reflections and Spring’s Haven extend our wishes to you and yours for a wonderful and joyous celebration of the warmth. Where ever you are in the world,

May Your Season Be Blessed with Abundance and Happiness

The Beauty Of Three

Welcome To Springwolf Reflections – Our 1st Post
Three years ago today I started up this little blog as a way to interact with readers of my book. We had decided to move my official author site from a generic static website to a blog where I could write and share my thoughts of the day  on a more interactive basis.

In the last week of January 2012 we set that plan to work and set off on research, design and implementation of Springwolf Reflections. That work came together and we officially rolled out with the publication of our first post on February 1st, 2012.

The change from static site to blog has allowed us to share insight, inspiration, news and discussion on a broader scale than we were able to provide on Facebook. And since then we’ve expanded our social media connections to Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, and a whole bunch of other places. You can see all our social connections below.

I’ve truly enjoyed the communication with visitors. Your comments have been thoughtful, your emails insightful and your kind words have been greatly appreciated.

If you’ve followed my blog for a little while, you may know the number 4 is my lucky and favorite number. So I’m excited we have embarked on the 4th year of Reflections. I’m excited to see what this year brings and I’m looking forward to seeing what and how it unfolds.

I’m humbled by your continual support and extend a heartfelt  Thank you for visiting. I hope you like what we have to share in the coming year. And I hope you’ll continue sharing your comments, email and posts on our social media outlets.  Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Two of Cups – Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

No one can take away your confidence and pride. No matter how much you may have given up in the material world, there are some things you simply cannot lose. Unless, you give it away yourself. Don’t lose faith in your ability to succeed and give up who you are for a false promise. You’re worth more than that. And you deserve better!

Additional Insight:

Desperation makes a very bad bed fellow.
Don’t give up and give away your very soul.
~ Springwolf 🐾 © 2000

All things around you are changing, and they are moving in the direction you need them to go. You may not be able to see the destination, but that doesn’t mean you should get off the trail and look for another route to where you’re going. That desperation will lead you down a path of greater pitfalls and struggle. Stay the course and ride out this brief lack of confidence.

You deserve more and indeed you’re working toward making things better. But the unknown that’s holding you in fear can divert your good intentions and judgement down a path of false promises. Don’t give up the ship for the little dingy that will not hold all the rewards you deserve. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Ten of Swords

Sometimes all the little jabs can add up and pull you down. Don’t be so hard on yourself and remember that feeling sad is just as much a part of living in balance as being overjoyed. You can’t appreciate happiness, if you don’t understand the sadness. But don’t let the struggles overwhelm you. Each one is nothing more than a passing moment.

Additional Insight:

Try not to overlook the little things in life,
because the big things don’t happen very often.
Finding a thrill in everyday events is Priceless!

In the world of spirituality and life coaching we do a lot of talking about choosing to be happy. Starting the day with positive thinking and creating the day you want. But in paganism we talk a lot about living in balance and striving to achieve a balance in all things. And that includes your emotions.

Feeling sad isn’t a bad thing. Having a good cry every now and then is a very cleansing experience. It pulls up the energy of struggle, disappointment and challenge in a release that “gets it out” and gives you a chance to let it go. Holding it in all the time can keep that energy churning away within and eventually causing physical illness. Finding healthy ways to face it and let it out can help you release all the little thorns in your side that have piled on and weakened your resolve. Continue reading

News Release – Counseling Psychology Association

Healing Through Compassion & Affirmation

Caring and Compassion

The IMM Counseling Psychology Association

Last year the International Metaphysical Ministry (IMM) began working on the foundation of a new organization to provide counseling guidelines, expanded and up-to-the-minute continuing education to IMM Ministerial graduates. This information can be enormously helpful to the professional coach or counselor as well as to someone seeking spiritual/metaphysical assistance. Counseling services are something all Ministers in all religions provide.

The IMM’s Counseling Psychology Association officially kicked off its organization and services January 1st, 2015 for IMM Ministers and it’s University system graduates.

The Association is a professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the spiritual counseling profession. As the majority of IMM graduates engage in some form of coaching and counseling or are planning careers to do the same in the future, these guidelines help to provide a professional framework for operation and the accessibility to continue learning and sharing with other members,

We are proud to announce the certification of Spring (Dr. Vickie Carey) in this new Association and looks forward to the expanded learning, sharing of ideas, concepts and information with other members and with you. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Eight of Wands – Inverted

Eight of Wands: Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

You may feel as though troubles are raining down upon you today. But you’re much stronger than you think you are. You really aren’t losing the battle. In fact, if you pay attention to details, you’ll discover that the negative events are falling by the wayside. Stay calm and you won’t become the target. You’ll be able to weave your way through the fire and escape without issue.

Additional Insight:

There’s a lot of change going on in the world. A lot of it is pushing people and events to change when they don’t want to. That’s creating turmoil for those who are moving forward and welcoming the shifts needed in their lives.

If you’re one of the people going with the flow and enjoying the adventure, you can still feel the anxiety going on around you. Especially if you’re sensitive to subtle energy shifts. Don’t worry. It’s not you. Try to set some shields of protection and push away the fear, anger and turmoil of others. Don’t let their struggles become your battles. You may find yourself in a fight that has no value for you.

If you’re fighting against the tide and trying to keep the status quo going, you’re putting yourself in the line of fire. You’re being pushed out of negative or bad situations and toward a better environment. Don’t fear the change, revel in it. Accept that some things have to change in order for you path to get better. You’re not where you should be and the Divine in your life is trying very hard to get you moving. Continue reading

In Full Disclosure – Have Faith, Not Hope!

OMG! Face Plant!!

Face Plant!!

Giving Credit

Last year on June 8th 2014, I posted a Homily about “Have Faith, Not Hope” – A Powerful Change In Perspective. The inspiration for the article was a video I had seen of Jim Carrey’s Commencement Address at the 2014 MUM Graduation.

I truly have become very fond of that Commencement address and especially two key sections that inspire and encourage anyone. Not only the graduates he’s speaking to.

The first was related to being contained by others. Setting your own limitations by stepping outside the limitations of others. “You can’t contain the container” he said. I love that!

The second statement is one that really impacted my perspective in life about hope. He said:
Take a chance on faith. Not religion, but faith. Not hope, but faith. I don’t believe in hope. Hope is a beggar. Hope walks through the fire and Faith leaps over it.” ~ Jim Carrey © 2014

I was really struck by that perspective. It changed a good many things in my life. But his words were not easy for me to relate to and share with others. I wanted to be able to impart this bit of wisdom with my own students. And if I couldn’t remember it and say it well, the concept would be lost in the retelling. Continue reading

Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Two of Pentacles – Inverted

Two of Pentacles - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Once again you need to pay attention to the flow of your thoughts. Things are not upside as your anxiety is telling you. Stop expecting the bottom to fall out or you will make it happen! Keep within your means, do what you can and you’ll control your environment with ease. Letting go doesn’t mean throwing caution to the wind. It means actively participating in the here and now, to focus on your positive future.

Additional Insight:

Don’t create a self-fulfilling prophecy. Letting go of your anxiety doesn’t mean you can ignore your budget or your work load. It means you must release the negative thoughts that hold you back from taking care of those things in your own life and being consciously responsible for your choices.

You can’t throw caution to the wind, say I let go and let ‘God’ and then go out and spend what you know you don’t have. You must live in the here and now, with an eye on the future. Swinging the pendulum to the other side of the extreme is no better than living without. Today strive for the balance in the middle.

Focus on the even keel and you’ll discover you’re not losing things from your baskets, but rather adding to them. Your anxiety won’t get the best of you, because you’re being accountable. You’re reasoning things out and setting up a plan to have the little things you desire, while still working on the really big things. And you will be able to do both, if you keep calm. Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Ace of Pentacles – Inverted

Ace of Pentacles - Inverted

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Be open to receiving and what you need will present itself. Be careful that your annoyance at situations and at certain people don’t close you off to welcoming what’s coming back your way.  You maybe holding things together with a string. But you’re strong enough to get through the delay and wait for the rewards. Remember, things happen in their right time and space. As long as you’re open for it to happen.

Additional Insight:

Things aren’t always what they seem. You’re not losing ground even though you may think you are. Those thoughts are nothing more than your anxiety getting the best of you…again. Turn the focus upside down and you’ll see nothing is falling out of your baskets. You’re still on track and things are still ok.

Remember to open your arms and catch the things that are coming your way. They’re not really rewards, but rather things you’ve worked hard to achieve and bring into abundance. So stop waiting for the other shoe to fall. It’s not going to happen!

Instead, keep control of your stress and pay attention to the little gains you’ve made. Things aren’t nearly as tough as they were this time last year. Or as tough as they were the year before that. You have come a long way and you are making strides. Keep your head on your shoulders. Keep yourself open to receiving good tidings and let the Fae bring some magik into your day. Continue reading
