Sitting in judgement of others is a risky business. You have no idea what someone else is going through, even if they try to tell you their story. Remember there’s always three sides to any event. Your side, their side and the truth. It’s not a bad thing, but we all have our own perceptions based on past and present events in our own lives that can cloud our judgement. Today, stick to your own business and keep your head focused on your tasks. You’ll get through the day unscathed.
It’s a live and let live day. This is not the world according to you and you may not have all the facts needed to judge someone or a situation. Sticking your nose in or making assumptions can seriously backfire on your comments and actions. Stop, check your own emotions and ask yourself, why does this make me so angry or hurt?
Your own introspection can show you what past event is influencing your feelings and reactions. For today, it really is a case of “it’s me, not you”. So remember, what we don’t like in others, is merely an exaggerated perspective of what we don’t like about ourselves. If you don’t feel as though you’re being listened to, ask yourself, who am I not listening to?
You might think you can clearly see what’s going on from the outside or as an outside observer. But you’re making assumptions about what you’re seeing and hearing. If today’s situation is directly involving you, then it’s better to drop your knee jerk reactions and figure out why you’re responding the way you are. Your instinct to blow up and react the way you always have in the past isn’t the answer.
Deep breath. Apologize. Even if you have to say, I don’t know why I felt so offended, hurt or angry. Judge your actions, before you blow things out of proportion. By the end of the day, everything will have calmed down. Try to let it go and move on with compassion and kindness. Not only for the one you’re facing, but for yourself as well. There’s not enough of that in the world right now anyway. No reason to add to the negativity and make things worse.
