Advocated by David John Oates, Reverse Speech is known as a pseudoscience. It claims that during spoken language production, human speakers subconsciously produce hidden messages that give insights into their innermost thoughts. Does our conscious mind direct our spoken word to place hidden messages in our speech that betrays our underlying motives? Can it be used in psychology, criminology or in business dealings? We’ll discuss the theory, application and play a few examples from our own experiments to test the concept.
