My Friday the 13th, 2016 Adventure

It seems fitting to have an encounter with a black animal on Friday the 13th. We have cats, and a wild black cat hangs around house now and then throughout the week. So for us, cats aren’t unusual.

But this afternoon while I was going out on an errand, I ran into some traffic at the security gate to our neighborhood. Now if you’ve followed my blog for a little while, you may know we live on large lake in a gated community. We have a great deal of wild life around here, including various types of snakes. In and out of the water. But I didn’t expect to see a snake in the road in the highest traffic area of our entire community.

As I was pulling up to the exit side of the gate house, I noticed something in the road. People were driving around it or right over it, but either way, careful not to hit it. When I approached, I realized it was a snake. Two of my favorite security guys were out there, keeping their distance with another resident pointing and looking at the snake. But they didn’t seem to know what to do about it. Continue reading

The Power Of The Bald Eagle

It’s My Lucky Day

I’ve made mention here before that 4 is my favorite and my lucky number. Today is 04-04-2016 and those double fours seem to be speaking to me today.

When I left the house this morning I found a large bird feather behind my little SUV. We have a lot of Red Tail and Red Shoulder hawks around here. But while I examined it, I knew it wasn’t a hawk feather, because it didn’t have the identifying stripes.

We live on a lake, but I also knew it wasn’t from our visiting Canadian Geese. But still I wasn’t sure what it was. So in an effort to identify the feather, I took a picture and uploaded it to Google’s image search. When I found several matches I knew I had my source. But to be honest I was seriously shocked to discover its the tail feather of a Bald Eagle.

We have a couple of nesting pairs of Bald Eagle here on our lake. We’ve seen them over the years flying by the water’s edge. Even caught sight of one fishing on one occasion. “He” dove into the water, disappeared and re-emerged with a fish between his talons. It was indeed a marvelous sight. We’ve seen them in the winter sitting on the ice near an open pool and we managed to capture one in a very bad picture eating a fish on the ice one winter.

Now being a Shaman, any eagle medicine is a very powerful animal message to me. You don’t come by Bald Eagle feathers every day. Heck, I’ve never seen one in this type of situation in my entire life. So this is a big deal to me. Wholly guacamole! Continue reading

An Unexpected Visitor

We Have Bats Up In Here!

So the cats are in the bathroom getting into something. I go in and find the shower curtain rod halfway down the wall. I go to push it back up and I notice this big brown something on the wall. Now it’s the bathroom, so the first I think is ..yeah..poop. How the hell did poop get on the wall?

Ok, so it wasn’t a rational thought and I look closer. Uh..How the heck did this little guy get in here?!!

After the realization that it was a bat, comes the heart pounding OMG!! Ok, how am I going to get him out of here without hurting him or getting me bitten? I ran the cats out of the bathroom and closed the door. Which in and of itself was also irrational, the bathroom door had been open for several hours and he didn’t come out. So why would he come out now that I knew he was there? Right? Shut up, this isn’t your irrational moment! 😉 Continue reading

Animal Sign

fallwolfWhen Animals Cross Your Path

Everyone has had an experience where an animal has crossed our path in the physical world and we wondered if it means something. How many times have you asked, or been asked, wonder what that wolf, deer, squirrel is trying to tell me?

Nearly all Shamanistic societies believe animals in the physical and spiritual worlds come to us for our own good to deliver messages.

When animals cross our path in the physical world they maybe bringing a warning or a message as guidance. They’re a “here in the now” kind of message that impacts our physical world.

But depending on the animal, they can cross their influence of meaning between the physical and spiritual worlds. Perhaps we’re not being as perceptive as we should be or we maybe we need to pay attention to a message from spirit that affects our physical choices. Listening to our gut feelings is an important part of living in balance and nature is all about balance. Continue reading
