Sunday Homily: What Is Metaphysics?

The Physics of First Principles

In my book, Pagan Metaphysics 101, I share some of the basic foundations of thought behind Metaphysics as a philosophy. Recently I’ve delved into this topic with others who label their path as Metaphysical, but after discussion were not aware of the origins of Metaphysical thought. And in particular, that their views of a “Christ Consciousness” as the foundation of Metaphysics is actually a fairly new evolution of Metaphysical philosophy.

But is that concept accurate? Do these principles come from the essence of Christ teachings? Or are they based in older Pagan concepts? Or could they be even older than that?

The typical path by some I’ve had this discussion with is to start by complaining about yet another spiritual path taking from pagan origins and re-branding it. It’s not the first time nor will it probably be the last time others modify something to fit their views.

Nor is it the only instance of others trying to distance themselves from what has been known before and practiced by pagans long ago. Trying to get away from the “negative” or “dark” practices of paganism isn’t uncommon, even if it’s misconceived. But I don’t think complaining or trying to vilify others is an effective way of educating misconceptions.

Everyone has a right to evolve their thought and views. But it’s also important to remember and understand where those views originated or came from. What inspired them and who brought them into the context in the first place? That’s where I like to begin the journey of Metaphysics. Continue reading

You might know some of the Pagan traditions such as Wicca, but there’s so much more to the story and many more traditions than you might expect. We’re walking down the path of not only how Paganism came to be but also investigating the belief systems within these traditions today on Enlightening Radio with Spring’s help.

paganmetaphysicsSpring also helps us to investigate the relationship of Paganism to metaphysics and further, to New Age philosophies. And we’re also covering the essential connections from this belief system to energetic structures, to the natural world, to the relationship with the divine and much more. So much information to cover in an hour but you’ll have a much greater understanding not only of Paganism but how these traditions originally formed and their impact on our world today. Check it out, today or any day on the CoSozo Radio Network.

Life Is A Circle

Stop Chasing Your Tail

You can keep going in circles, repeating the same mistakes and spinning your wheels. Or you can release the breaks and start moving forward. Allow yourself to change your habits and learn your lessons to move your circle forward,

blackelk

Don’t allow the fear held within to be the break that keeps you tethered to the pole and running in circles. Let go of that fear and learn to love yourself. Being alone is a whole lot different from being lonely. You are your own best friend and as long as you have you, there will be no loneliness. You don’t have to have a mate to be happy. Fear keeps you from reaching for your dreams and being inspired to achieve your goals. Fear holds you tight and doesn’t allow you to see that you deserve better and you don’t need to be drawn to those who will not be there for you. Fear keeps you from seeing the negative patterns you put in place every day. If you can’t see the patterns, how are you going to break the ones you don’t like or that put the breaks on your wheel to move forward?

Let go of the fear and allow the circles of your life carry you into a new day of brightness.

From time to time I make appearances for lectures, workshops, book signings and interviews. We share the dates, locations and information about these events on the Appearance page here on Springwolf Reflections.

This week I was asked to appear on Enlightening Radio. A show of enlightenment on the CoSozo network. I truly enjoyed the conversation with host Christine Andrew. I hope you’ll tune into the show, which is available on their website and you can subscribe to the show on iTunes Continue reading

Resources To Help Get You Inspired & Motivated

We all have days that we want to hide from the world. To get back into bed and dream the day we wish we had. Or hide behind the curtains and watch old movies, eat a pint of ice cream (my favorite is cookies and cream) and try to escape the events of the day. But hiding away doesn’t fix anything.

The ebb and flow of life is generally a normal part of living. Maybe we do need more sleep, a nap might turn things around. Maybe we need to examine what we’ve taken in that nurtured our body and mind. Have you been focusing on junk food? Maybe a healthy meal could give you some energy. Have you been burning the candle at both ends? Wearing yourself down like that makes it much easier for your body to catch even the smallest bug that turns into a big bout with a cold or the flu.

Or maybe you’re spending too much time thinking about the mistake(s) you made and allowing those events to anchor you in the negative energy that won’t allow you to flow out into a better day. Negative self talk is a very common problem with a lot of people. And it can be very destructive for many people. Even those who seem to have it all together.

Some times we need something to remind us of our blessings, or what we should be doing to move forward. Things that help us stay focused and mindful of our thoughts and actions can lessen the valley of sadness. Little inspirations that help boost our desire to dance! Continue reading

Confidence vs Arrogance

Confidence 2When Does Ego Become A Problem

What one person views as confidence, another person will view as arrogance. It’s a fine line that doesn’t exist on a set standard or a measuring tape or in the levels on a scale. It’s not a tangible thing that can be measured for everyone to share and compare. Because it’s based on perspective and everyone’s perception is different.

How you see yourself and your abilities will determine where that measuring stick is for you. Let’s give our stick a range of 1 to 10.

If you hold confidence in yourself, and believe in your abilities, your skill and experience than the bar for achieving arrogance will be set pretty high. Let’s put it around a level of 9 on the arrogance chart.

Consequently, if you’re someone who has self doubts in any or your abilities, skill, knowledge or experience, then your bar for achieving arrogance will be set lower. Let’s put that one at level 6 on the arrogance chart.

If you have self doubts, your always questioning your abilities, skill, knowledge or experiences and you’re unsure if you can do something successfully, then you may have serious confidence issues. Let’s put that down at level 3 on our arrogance chart. Continue reading
