Bullies always have ulterior motives. They want to push you around so they feel better about themselves. They don’t want to do the work that goes behind being dependable, they want others to do it for them. When they stand on their own, they lose the courage to stand up for themselves. They always have henchmen doing their bidding. Don’t focus on the messengers, they’re not the real issue. Be careful when you pet the head of a dragon. He can still turn around and bite you. Sadly not everyone in your day is going to be on your side. Show compassion and be kind, but don’t assume your good deed will turn things around. Someone may seem nice to you in response, but you can’t trust them. And you know who they are.

Sometimes there are people in our world that just decide they don’t like us. We may never know why or what we have done to cause the negative reaction. But deep down we can feel their unfriendly nature toward us. Maybe we remind them of who they wish they could be. Whither it’s jealousy or fear, it’s not your place to explain the lesson they face.

When someone doesn’t like who we are, we can’t force them to change. You could try to “kill them with kindness” and despite their attitude show compassion and friendship. But whatever you do, don’t stir the pot and push their buttons. You’ll be the one who comes out looking like the bad guy. If you get angry or annoyed, you’re better off keeping your mouth shut and walking away.
