A Story Worth Sharing

My brother-in-law shared this story with us. It’s worth thinking about for everyone. The story has been making the rounds on the internet since at least 2000, but the message is timeless.

When it started making the rounds around the internet, the message shared a cup of coffee with friends. Over the decade it has been altered here and there. Some improvements, other versions leave out some important parts of the story. And the cups of coffee have become two beers.

It’s hard to tell if the story is from a real professor or if it’s merely urban legend. I looked for information on Snopes.com, Wikipedia and a few other places, but no really seems to know the origins of the story. So take it for what it says as a good philosophical lesson about life.

A Well Taught Lesson About Life
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. Continue reading →
