Get your feet out of the mud and get things done. You’re making things harder than they need to be. Procrastination is not your friend and it never will be. You’ve worked on changing other bad habits, time to work on this one. Buckle down and take care of the tasks today, instead of waiting for crunch time when the pressure is on and the anxiety is high!
Additional Insight:
You’ve worked hard over the past several years to change your bad habits and make improvements in your life. Some of it has been hard, some of it has simply taken courage and focus. But the one thing you’ve needed to work on the most is your constant procrastination.
Whether it’s because you don’t want to deal with the task, or you’re afraid to find out what’s really underlying the issue, putting it off won’t help. Every time you try to ignore something until you absolutely have to deal with it, you make things worse. It’s harder on yourself and on the details of what needs to be done.
Some things have a time limit and you must deal with those papers while you have time. Ignoring them will make things harder on you and they could even derail things you’ve been working on. Stop that! Seriously!
Even if the worse thing that happens is you find out some bad news now instead of a month from now, what’s the difference? I’ll tell you what…you’ll have more time to deal with it now!. You might also give yourself more opportunities to change the bad into good and solve the whole problem. But putting it off won’t allow that to happen.
Turning things around takes time. And the more time you have the better. Procrastinating is not your friend. It’s your enemy. If the things you’ve been through haven’t told you that yet, what’s it going to take? Haven’t you lost enough? Haven’t you worked hard enough already to turn things around and improve your future? Yes you have, not stop groveling and get out of the mud.
Get in front of the game and be proactive instead of reactive. Give yourself the chance to steer the boat in the direction you want it to go. It’s a lot easier going with the flow using a little guidance in a calm river, than it is trying to steer through the raging rapids. Make your list, prioritize it by date and importance. If you forget something, you can always add it later. Then start focusing on what needs to be taken care of right now. You may just find out that your list short and there’s not that much to be done in the first place!
You’ll be so much more relieved when you’ve completed the things you thought were going to be an issue. You might even be surprised when you realize they really weren’t that big of a deal at all. You’ll close out the year on a good note, with empowerment and confidence. And more importantly, with faith that next year is going to be so much better because of your hard work! Now, get it done.
