The Ænigma Project is a discussion group focused on the realm of the supernatural, paranormal and mysterious events that sometimes take place in our lives. Through multiple view points and experiences, we seek to enlighten our listeners and elucidate that which has become hidden beneath the many layers of misunderstanding and fear.

05/20 Our Topic: The Dancing Plague
The outbreak began in July 1518, when Frau Troffea, began to dance fervently in a street in Strasbourg for 4 to 6 days. Within a week, 34 others had joined in the dance and all appeared to be in a trance as they moved about. Within a month, there were about 400 additional dancers. Some of these people eventually died from heart attack, stroke, or exhaustion. A plethora of documentation marks the event, from physicians, clergy, local periodicals, even the town council rang in on the event. But what caused this unusual plague? It wasn’t the only one in history, so could it happen again?
