Being Mindful Each Moment Of The Day

Nature is filled with the tiniest moments of exceptional beauty.
Take a moment to appreciate their gift, before they’re gone forever.

It’s important to take a moment throughout the day to be Mindful of what you’re doing and how it resonates with your soul, spiritual mission and mental outlook. Both for a state of being and for a sense of living your beliefs and putting them into practice. ~ A Sunday Homily: Mindfulness

Animal Sign

I believe animals cross our path to bring us spiritual messages. Sometimes the messages are about us, our character, strengths or weaknesses. Sometimes they’re about events in our life and our thoughts impacting those events.

I’ve mentioned before, my favorite author on this subject is Ted Andrews. He has two books that I highly recommend, “Animal Speak” and “Animal Wise”.

He puts into words the wisdom of the Shamanistic approach to animal sign I was taught in my early studies. I high recommend his books.  Continue reading

Crow Magik

The Magik of Animal Guides

The Magik of Animal Guides

When Crow, Raven, Rook and Jackdaws Come To Visit

Sometimes when we are in an intuitive state, something will grab our attention to add to the information we seek. This happened to me on August 14th, 2014 while I was doing my morning work. Part of which includes pulling today’s Tarot Meditation card and divining a message.

On that day I typed a line “Why do you insist on focusing on the worst case scenario“, the digital photo album that sits next to my pc popped up the picture of the crow shown below and he grabbed my attention. Letting me know there’s more to this statement than we may realize.

If you’ve been following along with us over the past few months, you know that Crow Magik has been working fairly hard lately in our little part of the world. So much so that you can’t help but notice their presence.

Crows and their cousin the Raven are the messengers of change and transition. But that’s not always bad. Often times transition brings good things that we need and maybe even things we’ve been asking for. Even though we as humans often have a hard time with change, it’s the only constant in the Universe. It cannot be avoided.

Crows and Ravens bring us this message and remind us we are moving and our actions dictate the direction of that movement. They let us know things are in transition and now is the time to be Mindful of our thoughts, communications and actions. What we think, say or do will impact the direction of our movement and if we move forward with positive action, or fall backward and repeat old negative patterns. They signal that change is occurring and only we can create the direction of that change, forward.  Continue reading

It’s Raining Tears

Healing Through Compassion & Affirmation

Caring and Compassion

And The World Cries

I woke up Monday morning with a heavy heart. It’s raining here in Virginia. It’s dark, gloomy and it simply feels like the whole world is crying.

As an experienced empath (someone who can feel the energy of other living things), I learned decades ago to keep myself shielded from the outside world. When I was younger I would be having a great carefree day, walk past someone who was probably having the worst day in their lives and suddenly I felt like crying. Many untrained empaths have this problem every day and struggle to keep the ‘mood’ of someone else at bay.

You don’t have to be a “gifted” empath for this to happen. We are all psychic to some degree. Some are merely more in tune with those 6th Senses than others. We all have gut feelings, intuition, call it what you want. But humans are part of the animal kingdom, and like those animals, we have natural instincts that keep us safe and help us avoid danger. Everything In Moderation

An Exercise Of Living In Balance With Out Limitation

My friend Angela shared a lessons she’s trying learn at this time in her life. A lesson for determining what you want for yourself, regardless of the “should’s” and anything viewed as limiting.

My Dad’s Mom taught me some great lessons in this area. So I thought I’d use Angela as my inspiration this evening and tell you about my Grand Mother. Or Maw as we called her.

She was a little lady by today’s standards. Petite and very tough. She was married on July 4th, 1922 to my grandfather and spent her honeymoon in the new house he had purchased for her and their soon to be family. One of the first things he did for her, was take her to the local voting registrar and get her a voting card. She voted in every Presidential election throughout her life.

She lost her middle son in 1945 during WWII when he was killed in action in Germany. Within 3 years of his death, her husband (my grandfather) died after a long illness. With her remaining children grown and her husband gone, she lived out the rest of her life alone in that very same house. She never remarried and remained close to her two remaining children. She filled her days with work. probably to keep busy. I doubt anyone knows or ever knew how she felt and what she went through to cope through her losses. Continue reading

Be Like Water My Friend

Go With The Flow

Go With The Flow

Go With The Flow

I’ve always loved the idea of flowing with nature. Be it gliding on a breeze, riding the wind, flowing with the water; all those inspirational phrases remind us that when we fight against nature, we’re making things harder on ourselves.

When we can let go of what we’ve already been through, we can stop fighting against the tide and flow with it instead. Like all things in life, we can sometimes simply lay back and float with a calm serenity that gives us time to look around and appreciate the world around us. But sometimes we must get out a paddle and guide our travel through the rocks and avoid the waterfalls that try to cause havoc and set us back to start over again.

Karate Master Bruce Lee has many wonderful insights for moving with the flow, being inspired and living your life to fulfill you spirit within.

Lee was of Chinese decent, but he was born in Chinatown, San Francisco on 27 November 1940. His parents migrated to the U.S. from Hong Kong. But he was raised in Kowloon, an urban area in Hong Kong with his family until his late teens. Though his parents were from Hong Kong, by being born here in the U.S. Bruce Lee carried a dual citizenship. He was born American, even though his parents were not citizens.  You can read about his history, up bringing and training at Wikipedia: Bruce Lee. Continue reading

A Look At 777

Number Seven / 7 by Springwolf 🐾 © The Inspiration of Numbers

Well now that we’ve corrected the big mistake we made on the numerology section, of the blog (A Correction – In Full Disclosure), I’m going to jump right in and share some numerological insight for something I discovered today, and that I found kind of interesting and intriguing.

If you’ve seen my number insights before you know that Mathematics is the only language shared by all humans regardless of culture, religion, or gender. Numerology is the study of the divine or mystical relationship between a count or measurement and life. It has many systems and traditions and beliefs. My practice of numerology is Shamanistic Numerology that’s based on Celtic and North American Shamanistic teachings. It’s not the only method, the best method or the true method. It’s simply one of many methods and one that resonates most with me and my personal perspectives of the Divine and the world we live in.

From a Shamanistic Numerology standpoint, today’s number is a Sub-Prime number and as a numerical number it represents the spiritual aspect of this event. Continue reading

Who Are The Pagans

Wise Old Wolf

The Wise Old Wolf

We’re The Other People

Many years ago a friend sent me an article that explains who we pagans are, from the very beginning of time. Well, time as it relates to Christians anyway.

The article was originally published in a periodical from Church Of All Worlds called “Green Egg“, years ago. The magazine isn’t published any longer, but the Church still exists. I am very fond of this article and when I originally went looking for it, I could only find it in Google’s cached pages. But it doesn’t even exist there any longer.

The article was written by Oberon Zell from Church of all Worlds. It is way too good to let his story fade into the ether of the internet. In 1999 I attained permission to reprint the article as long as I made sure I gave the credit to Oberon. Well of course, and gladly so!

The story shares some important insight into the origins of Earth and formation of life. Using the Bible itself to explain and discuss the origins of Pagans from the Christian perspective. Come take a look, you might discover something you never thought of and expand your view about the Other People. Continue reading

Metaphysics: The Basics of Paganism

CommunicationThe Essence of Metaphysics

Recently I had the opportunity to speak with some other spiritual and metaphysical authors. The majority spoke of Metaphysics from a New Age, New Thought and Unitarian perspective. At some point I said “Well Metaphysics is pagan, and not based on Abrahamic doctrine” which to some degree all of these spiritual paths hold a connection to.  ..uh oh.. did I start something!!

Thankfully most of the people, ok, there were about 14 people in this conversation and only 2 seemed offended by my comment. Others looked confused and question my claim. Others were curious and asked what I meant. So I began to explain.

While we associate the writings of Metaphysics with Aristotle, he didn’t create the concept nor was he the only one writing about it. You can read more about this in my book Pagan Metaphysics 101. But the early cultures around the globe were all pagan. Which seems to have come as a surprise to some people. They actually believed the society that gave us the Great Greek Philosophers were following early Christian teachings.

It was hard letting them down and putting a few facts into their assumptions, but it had to be done. Pythagoras established the Pythagoras Brotherhood (a philosophical society that discussed life, the universe, morals and much more.) in 530B.C. That would be 30years before the completed Hebrew Manuscripts. And Pythagoras is said to have created this Brotherhood late in his life, about the time he was 50 years old. So presumably the concepts within metaphysics were part of his life and understanding long before he established the brotherhood. “Metaphysics” was coined in late 300’s B.C. by Aristotle. It wasn’t until 200 B.C. when the completion of the Septuagint Greek Manuscripts were completed. These manuscripts contain The 39 Old Testament Books AND 14 Apocrypha Books of the earliest version of the Torah. This happened nearly 100 years after Aristotle penned his writings. Say what?!
