The Mayan Long Count Calendar

A Dec. 21, 2012 Prophecy

One of the most common myths today is that the Mayans predicted a doomsday and that the world will end on December 21st 2012.

What gets me about this story is that many of the people who believe this, never listen to other prophecies that have been made and have happened. Why do so many people believe this one? I honestly have no insight into that. Perhaps it’s a sign of the hoplessness that some people feel during this recession/depression time in our world.

I’ve written about this story in the past on Taking Another Look At Dec. 12, 2012 . Sharing facts and links to real scientific evidence that debunks this silliness. Now that we’re getting closer to the infamous date, more stories are coming out about that same evidence. This week the Discovery Channel posted a pretty good perspective on the Mayan Calendar and the misinformation fear mongers are spreading. It’s worth a read.

Busy, Busy, Busy

The Wolf WithinNot Enough Time In The Day/Week/Month!

I’ve been working on other projects that are taking a lot of time away from my blog here. They’re fun and exciting projects and I’m enjoying them at least. Some of them are articles for other magazines. So stay tuned, I’ll be posting news about the release of those issues as they come. Some are for December so we have a little time to wait.

There are three reflection articles I have in the works for now:

  1. Confidence and Ego – When is it ok to judge.
In our modern world, judging others has become a ‘bad’ thing. Maybe there are times when making judgements is necessary.
  2. Teaching Your Children – Sharing the path with your kids.
Where to start and how to safely incorporate them into your practices.
  3. Dealing With Illness And Disease – When it exists in those you live or work with.
Living with older relatives can be trying. How can you use your spiritual perspective to make things better.

It seems this time of the year things always get more jammed packed with things to do, leaving little time for the things you plan to do. I love the fall and winter seasons. The change of leaves and the excitement of seeing the snow fall on a cold winter day are both wonderfully fun for me. Now..if I could make a schedule and have it actually work out the way I plan, there will be time enough for everything!  ..yeah right.  😉

Listen to the Earth’s “Dawn Chorus”

The Sound of Earthsong

The RBSP spacecraft’s Electric and Magnetic Field Instrument Suite and Integrated Science (EMFISIS) instrument has beamed back a beautiful Chorus sung by our own planet.

Chorus is an electromagnetic phenomenon caused by plasma waves in Earth’s radiation belts, made up of radio waves that oscillate at acoustic frequencies. They are thought to be the waves that energize the electrons that make up the outer radiation belt.

Thoughts & Prayers For U.S. Embassy Staff

Patriotic Wolf - Artist Unknown

Patriotic Wolf – Artist Unknown

For All Those In The Middle-East

Everyone here at Spring’s Haven extends our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of those killed in the middle east this week. The people who serve their country in military or civilian service in places where the U.S. is often seen as the enemy are more than patriotic. They know the inherent danger and hope their work and interactions with the people of these countries will make a difference to promote tolerance, peace and understanding. Each of them is a hero for the sacrifices they make on a daily basis. Especially for those who gave their lives in service to their nation.

May the Great Spirits watch over each and every one of these brave souls, their families and friends so they may find the strength to endure the consequences of these tragic events.
