The Year Long Affirmation

If you’ve followed my blog for more than a year, you probably know I don’t make New Years Resolutions. Who keeps those self “promises” anyway? I’ve always thought of resolutions as goals that set you up to fail. Not as a positive way to start a new year.

My first motto was designed to do nothing more than get me through days of frustration at work.  The experience proved to me, that the Motto idea was so much better than a Resolution. Because it’s there when you need it most.

I’m big on affirmations and that’s basically what the Annual Motto is. A yearly affirmation that’s there when you need to remind yourself that being Mindful of your thoughts will do you more good than not.

How you feel and think at a given moment, sets up your day, week, month, year and even your life. So why not help your thought process stay positive, when those tough situations come up during the year. This is the foundation of Mindfulness and it’s the easiest way to turn your thoughts around, when you’re facing challenges.

Each motto has been exactly what I needed to make it to the next New Years Celebration. And I’m happy to share these annual affirmations with you. I hope they give you strength when you need it the most, and help you to take the next step when you feel like sitting down and giving up.

Behind This Year’s Annual Motto
After a year of chaos surrounding Covid-19 and the political climate of so many nations, life seems heavy, dragging everyone down and worse. The great emotional loss of so many lives, job loss, insecurity on so many fronts and the political angst around the world, have taken it’s toll. With that in mind, this years Motto reminds us that we’re not the only ones facing emotional challenges. The past year has touched every person on the planet. And many are suffering in more ways than one. Not only do we need to be kind and patient with ourselves, we also should extend that respect to others who are also suffering. Because we really are All in this together.

This years motto also reminds us that we’re All More A Like, than we are Different. And that the differences aren’t so deep that they require reactions of violence or hatred. Those wasted emotions, drag everyone down and snowball day after day. Making issues or events so much worse from every moment we release the anger or angst into the Universe.

We can remember to Rise above, be responsible and accountable to our own path, goals and even our own soul, by remembering to focus on healing through kindness and compassion.
