Stop waiting for someone else to ‘fix things’ for you. The responsibility is yours to manage and control your emotions and your life. No one can make you happy, pull you out of despair or lavish you with abundance. If you want these things, you’re going to have to pull yourself up and get it done. Don’t give up in total despair, you can do this. One moment at a time.
It’s up to you to control your emotions. No one can make you feel a certain way, unless YOU allow them to. Blaming someone else for your choice to be sad or feel despair, is like blaming the Sun for a glass someone dropped in a restaurant on the other side of the world. One has nothing to do with the other. You chose your emotions, and it’s time to allow the healing to happen and control your own destiny.
If you wake up in the morning only thinking about how gray and gloomy things are, you’ll never see the Sun sparkle on the morning dew. There is always a silver lining, you simply have to be willing to find it. Make the decision to be happy, to pull yourself out of the rut you’re in and get on with life. Because life isn’t going to wait for you much longer.
You don’t need someone in your life to make you happy. But you’re not going to find someone to share your life with, by sitting at home in the dark. Today and through the weekend, open the curtains to the world outside. Let the Sun shine in and warm your day. If you’re somewhere that makes that impossible, then go outside and feel the warmth on your skin, or the breeze blow across your face. Take a walk in a park, or find a nice bench to rest on as you watch the world in its hustle and bustle. Get involved with something, even if it’s simply helping someone across the street or picking up a bottle for a mother who is overwhelmed and just needs some kindness.
If this state of mind has been going on for a long time now, maybe you should find someone willing to talk to you on a professional level. This isn’t the 1800s, it’s ok to seek mental help from a professional who can give you the pep talks you need, and the tools you can use to turn your thinking around and over come the fog you’ve put yourself into.
If you’re one of the lucky people who feels happy, think about those in your life that you know are having a hard time. Reach out and offer a hand of kindness and caring. Sometimes all someone really needs to turn things around is someone to talk to. Not someone who will judge their emotions or actions, but who will listen and offer ideas or support to help. Sometimes people who have fallen, know what they need to do, but for some reason they don’t feel as though they have the ability to do it. Even if it means simply driving them to a local drug rehabilitation clinic, you maybe offering the biggest hand to save their lives.
Today and through the weekend, make it your mission to either pull yourself up by your bootstraps and turn your life around for the better. Smile and the world will smile back at you. Smile and tell yourself you can be happy and you can move through life with ease and joy. You don’t have to convince the world, you just have to convince yourself. Take one step, and you’ll be able to walk into a brighter future.
