Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Seven of Swords

7 of Swords

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Nurture your spirit with strength and respect for all those around you. Don’t judge a book, person or situation by it’s cover. The truth is on the inside and in the details. Make sure you employ critical thinking when confronted with all situations and you’ll be able to find your way out of the negative actions of the crowd.

Additional Insight:

Swords represent Strength & Weakness, Endurance & Struggle, Respect & Animosity.

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the emotions of the crowd. It can be easy to allow others to manipulate your feelings, especially if it relates to something you’re passionate about. But inflammatory headlines or information designed to solicit knee jerk reactions often don’t tell the truth or purposefully twist facts to attain a specific and often undermining response.

It takes an effort to control and harness your own feelings. To take control of your actions by searching for the truth behind the headline. Some around you today will use inflammatory language or a twisted version of facts to get you on their side. Remember all actions have consequences. So don’t allow yourself to be lead astray so easily. Especially over the next 7 days.

You don’t have to become part of the angst and anxiety being created this morning. Pay attention to what you have going on and what you’re responsible for. You don’t have the autonomy to fix problems created by others. Nor do you have the authority, in some cases. Trying to instill your influence could backfire badly during this week of maneuvering, counter battles and a war that’s been brewing for weeks.

Remember the sword can cut both ways. Focus on the strength of the steel to remain cool. Endure the changes and results of the battle by standing on the side. Still with sword in hand, vigilant and with integrity and respect. The side you’re being called to, may not be the right side of the war. Sometimes you need to take a stand. But this week isn’t one of those times. Not with a lot more information and an investigation into the truth. (See the ‘Reading Today’s Card’ message below).

Reading Today’s Card
For some reason the Divine Universe gave me the impression to explain today’s card from a practical reading exercise perspective. When ever I see a card from the suit of Swords, I know there’s an issue of struggle or strife involved. Today it wasn’t the sword that stands out in the image, but the faery’s attempt to nurture the blue flower. In the color system I follow, that blue represents a search, someone is searching for something, often the truth, or the facts, especially as it relates to them on a personal level.

The pink in the other flowers tell me that love and compassion are also involved in this situation. These aren’t brown or black flowers, which could represent deceit or an abyss of understanding and knowledge. But pink, a reminder that compassion is more important in this conflict than we might otherwise think.

Still this is a card of Swords. There are little sticking points, small thorns that are trying to hold us in place, keep us from moving away onto our own journey of critical thinking. It could depict nitpicking at old thought patterns or old wounds we though we healed and released.

But there are two very important aspects of this card that deals directly with the faery and there by you as an individual. Look at the wings and arms of the faery. She’s not closed up, her wings are what I’d call in a relaxed position, open and willing to look beyond the physical. Her arms aren’t crossed and closed off. They’re positioned outward, nurturing and trying to help. In addition both are colored in pink, signifying an emotion of compassion, love and respect. And the faery isn’t holding a sword, she’s being nipped and cut by vines trying to hold her back. Interfering with her attempts to nurture.

It’s important, both in the image of the tarot and in life, that we don’t make assumptions by the cover a book. What’s on the outside can cloud or disguise what’s really going on within. That’s true for a book, a story, and especially a person or situation. Just be cautious today and don’t take anything at face value.
