Today’s Tarot Meditation Drawing: Ten of Swords

Ten of Swords Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Mystic Faery Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft

Sometimes all the little jabs can add up and pull you down. Don’t be so hard on yourself and remember that feeling sad is just as much a part of living in balance as being overjoyed. You can’t appreciate happiness, if you don’t understand the sadness. But don’t let the struggles overwhelm you. Each one is nothing more than a passing moment.

Additional Insight:

Try not to overlook the little things in life,
because the big things don’t happen very often.
Finding a thrill in everyday events is Priceless!

In the world of spirituality and life coaching we do a lot of talking about choosing to be happy. Starting the day with positive thinking and creating the day you want. But in paganism we talk a lot about living in balance and striving to achieve a balance in all things. And that includes your emotions.

Feeling sad isn’t a bad thing. Having a good cry every now and then is a very cleansing experience. It pulls up the energy of struggle, disappointment and challenge in a release that “gets it out” and gives you a chance to let it go. Holding it in all the time can keep that energy churning away within and eventually causing physical illness. Finding healthy ways to face it and let it out can help you release all the little thorns in your side that have piled on and weakened your resolve.

It can also help you appreciate all the little things that do go right in the day, that much more. If you wait around for the big accomplishments or surprises, you may not be celebrating very often. Give yourself permission to feel your emotions, sad, glad and joyful and you’ll be able to live in balance to appreciate all the little things that can bring you a thrill and a smile.

So go ahead and have a good cry and let go of all the negative situations that have already been thrown at you this year. You’ve been working hard to ignore the nay-sayers, to fight on against those trying to hold you back and striving to overcome the blocks that others have thrown at your feet. You’ve given a lot to help others stay positive, be inspired and to keep going while they face their own problems. Here at the end of the month, give yourself some compassionate care and accept the emotions that land on your own heart. At least for an hour or two.

It’s ok to mourn over the little things. Maybe you applied for a dream job and it didn’t come your way. Maybe you were budgeting for a certain item as a reward for your hard work and the car broke down instead. Maybe you heard “No” one too many times this month and feel deflated in your efforts. Whatever the issues have been, they’re not going to win the war. You’ve still won more battles than you’ve lost. But sometimes that inner pep talk is better heard after a good cry to let all the other stuff go.

Be kind to yourself and don’t get upset with your emotions. Allow them to be what they are for a short period of time! That release of frustration will lighten the load and believe it or not, re-energize you to get up and continue your fight to move forward in positive mindfulness. It’s going to be ok, so give yourself a hug, wipe your tears and then get up and get things done.
